Roomies on the Road
For the road trips and away games, Jeremy Sagan was placed with Percival Kane. Jonathan Getzlaf and Brampton Benn were roommates, while Tyler Marchand and Nikita Nichushkin spent time together. And Scooby roomed with Crow.
Jeremy, the more outgoing of the two partiers, often kickstarted festivities or talks. Most of the time they chilled and slept like two teenagers and then talked about girls and clubs in Boston, while they ate their food. And today was no different.
After back-to-back games with the San Jose Shruingers, the Boston Blackhawks landed in San Diego for their next road trip game. All the players were tired, except for Jeremy and Percy, who were excitedly chatting with one another as they disembarked from the team plane.
"Did you see my goal last night?" Jeremy blurted.
"I couldn't believe it had gone in!" Percy replied, elbowing Jeremy in the shoulder.
Jeremy broke out in laughter, before he raised his head up in a cocky prideful way and said, "Ha-ha, CSN and the Networks are all gonna be replaying that over and over again for at least a week or two! Man, I'm such a superstar!"
Percy smacked him on the shoulder. "You're not the only one, Segs!"
"Do you two ever shut up and sleep?" Tyler grumbled as he flashed them a tired look. "Geez. What do you do party all night long?" He rubbed his eyes and yawned as they entered their hotel in the city.
Jeremy laughed. "Sometimes, Marchy."
"Where Crow?" Nikita asked, looking around worriedly. "He no get to our room first. I hate when he mess up everything. Not good. Not good for Nikita. No."
Tyler patted Nikita's arm. "I'm sure we'll be fine this time. After all, Jonny specifically warned him not to make chaos tonight. Besides I think Crow went to his room already. He was super tired...and not to mention he did get high-sticked in the face last night and fought."
Scooby padded up, holding a small rectangular camera in his hand. "You're fine Nikita, promise. Crow's asleep."
"Why I no trust you? Why camera?" Nikita whined. "Nikita need sleep. Is tired."
"Scooby, put the camera away and let's all just get to sleep, otherwise I'll report you to Jonny," Tyler remarked.
Jeremy and Percy grabbed their keys and left, just as they heard Nikita scream with fright, followed instantly by laughter and complaining from the Russian. The two rookies shared a look and shrugged as they got in the elevator and made it up to their floor and room. The elevator stopped and opened on the fourth floor of the hotel.
They two grabbed their bags and belongings and walked down the hall toward their room. The hallway was lined with cool torch lights that were in decorated holsters. And the floor was carpeted with a nice red and gold combination. The walls were gold and matched the colors of the floor. They reached their room, Number 444 and entered to find nothing out of place.
They set their things down and Jeremy instantly jumped onto his bed and loosened his necktie up. "Wanna watch TV?" he asked Percy, as he yanked the tie off his neck and then unbuttoned shirt, revealing his athletically toned abs underneath.
"Nah, I wanted to tell you about this club in Boston that I went to a few days ago, before left on this road trip. Jeremy, you'd love it!" Percy remarked, removing his necktie. He threw it to the ground, carelessly and padded over to his bed.
"Oh really?" Jeremy questioned, getting onto his side and looking at his roommate, who sat down on the edge of his own bed. They both removed their shoes, Jeremy kicking his off the end of his bed and onto the floor.
"Yeah, the DJ's music list was off the charts man and you would have loved the mix. It was were young people, so there wasn't any alcohol...but it was still lots of fun. Also there were a ton of hot chicks there!"
"Bro, you had me a hot chicks!"
"I know you too well, Jeremy Sagan."
"So, talk about the chicks," Jeremy urged, flashing him a smile.
"Well, there was this cute brunette with curly brown hair."
"Did you ask her out?"
"No."
"Did you get her number?"
"No."
"Kaner, you're killing me man. If you see a hot or cute girl in a club, you always ask for her number!! Did you at least get her name?"
Percy looked at his feet and shook his head.
"Percy, man, I got a whole list of chicks I've met in clubs, I'll teach you how to meet one. Cause dude, having a girl is the best! Whether they're a friend or even closer. You know. Chicks are the best."
"Okay."
"Speaking of chicks, did you see that one girl behind the boards last time. Oh man, she was hella fine!" Jeremy asked, pushing himself up so that he could remove his shirt. He got it off and flung it onto the ground, somewhere near his shoes. Then he leaned back and arched his back, lifting his butt off of the bed, so that he could shimmy out of his pants. When they were removed, he kicked them onto the floor as well and then laid on the bed in just his boxers. "Much better, eh Kaner?"
Percy shielded his eyes and joked, "Gross. Hey man we agreed that you'd undress in the bathroom. And that you wouldn't be so nude... This isn't a strip club like the one you apparently got into back in Boston."
"Get over it, Kaner, Jeremy's gonna strip where and when he wants to. We're grown men and you're possibly banging the captain, so it's all good." The brunette rookie shoves the sheets down the bed and gets under them. "Besides, it's not like I'm showing you my ass or anything!"
Percy rolled his eyes. "I'm not banging Jonny. How do I not know you're banging Brampton. The way you're always hanging with him or kissing up to him. Come on."
"He's my liney and I like him."
"Same with Jonny and I, now good night!" Percy snapped. "And for God sakes, stay in your own bed this time! I swear if you come and snuggle with me again...I'll...I'll cross-check you into the boards during warm up tomorrow." He rolled over and turned his back to his roommate.
"Fine. And hey, I told you that it was because Crow soaked my sheets. He wanted a break from pranking the Russian."
"And I told you, you were a big baby!"
"Hey, would you sleep on a wet bedsheet?" Jeremy retorted.
"Whatever man. Good night."
The light was turned off and Jeremy and Percy snuggled into their beds and fell asleep. Percy didn't bother to check the time when he had turned away from his roommate's bed. He was soon fast asleep, but not for more than a second...at least that's what it felt like, before he felt a weight drop on his bed and a hand touching his face, poking and prodding him awake.
"Ugh...what is it?" he groaned, pushing at the hand that was violating him and his precious sleep time, "Stop touching me Jeremy, I know where that hand has been."
Jeremy was grinning down at him, when Percy blinked awake, opening his eyes, because of course the brunette liked to grin and smile. It was Jeremy Sagan, after all, one of the most happiest...cheesiest players in the league. And probably of the rookies too. Not that Percy, himself, wasn't smiley or like that..but this was Jeremy we're talking about here, not a decent human being...at least on the road as a roommate.
"Stop thinking where your hands have been," Percy groaned.
The light was too bright from the room and it was hot, but Percy still tried to hunch in on himself and put the pillow over his face so he didn't get blinded. And also so he didn't have to see Jeremy's stupid smug grin whenever he tried to blink the light out of his eyes.
"Dude," Jeremy said, his voice rough sounding from the morning, "The warm up is going to start in like seven minutes."
And that? That gave Percy the motivation he needed to get up and out of bed.
Thirty seconds passed and Jeremy was still sitting on Percy's bed by the time he was dressed and had thrown everything he needed for the hockey warm up and day into his bag. He grabbed a protein bar, knowing that it was from Jeremy's stash, but he had no words or thoughts to give anymore at the moment.
"You stink, man," Jeremy said, wrinkling his nose as he curled up on Percy's bed, getting comfortable when he had no right to be.
"Get off my bed," Percy snapped, pausing only to slap his roommate, "What's wrong with yours?"
"Wet patch," Jeremy answered, looking smug even with his eyes shut.
"AGAIN?!?! That's why you waited so long to wake me up," Percy complained, looking over at Jeremy's empty bed. He was tempted to just light it on fire. He walked over and patted it, wanting to see for himself. It was barely wet...and it was probably from Jeremy himself maybe sweating from a dream or something. It made him seriously frustrated and also a little mad.
"Yep."
"I'm going to kill you Jeremy Sagan!" he snarled through clenched teeth. Truth was, at the moment, he really wanted to do it. He did. But they both needed to get to the rink and warm up with the team and play hockey. There was no room for throwing himself into long-term commitments like murder and vengeance.
Besides, Boston needed them both. And this was just another day on the road for the rookie roommates. It was nothing new. And they'd work it out with Jonathan, Tyler and Bramption's help like always.
