All Roads Lead Home
To read or not to read.
I'm sure we all ask ourselves this question as readers. What makes a book good and how do we, as readers, know if it'll actually be interesting to take a gander at? Well, a nice, unbiased book review. That's exactly what I'll be giving you guys today.
All Roads Lead Home by witchoria is the perfect read. Why? Well, the writing is something refreshing to see here on wattpad after countless and countless of times reading repetitive tropes and cliches. The characters are a change from the everyday Mary Sues constantly written. The plot is one that makes you reel because of how unique it is. Here's what I have to say:
Zoya Hart is the epitome of different. Part of that is due to her autism, (yes, I know. An autistic character? It's a change from other disabilities often written about on wattpad, kudos to you, witchoria) and part of that is due to how she was raised by her late father. The thing to know about Zoya is that she's extremely blunt, but it's not in that horrible, 'I'm a boss' way most female protagonists are written as. In my personal opinion, All Roads Lead Home gives a new take on the Disney princess, stepmother plot. It's what drives Zoya to Arcadia, a gold-digging step-mother who would do anything to get her hands on the company.
Let's talk about Roman DeRoux. He was incarcerated for a crime he didn't commit and years later, he's out. After that time in prison, I'll be honest and say Roman's extremely rugged and dare I say, rude. He just doesn't care, and while this sounds like every wattpad man, he's nowhere close. Yeah, he's mean, but it's none of that 'I'll insult you till you love me' business. He tries his best to get Zoya to leave, but you know Zoya. She's a strong female who won't let a man run her out of town.
While All Roads Lead Home is nowhere close to cliche, I'm sure we all know where Zoya and Roman's relationship leads. Well, don't hold your breath! That's all I'll say.
Now, let's talk about some of the nitty-gritty stuff.
Title: 5/5 The story isn't finished, but I guarantee this title fits the plot well. I perceive this story as a standing your ground, finding yourself type of book. You make your home anywhere you want it to be.
Cover: 5/5 It's pretty dang hot, I won't lie. The simplicity of it doesn't make me want to turn away, in fact, it pulls me in more. I hope the same is for anyone who decides to read.
Blurb: 4/5 The blurb is pretty short, but it sums up pretty well what you'll be reading. There's definitely a hook, but it's well hidden in the blurb. Of course, this is my opinion.
Plot: 4/5 The plot is so well thought out. I can appreciate the modern twist on the evil step-mother that media has always given us. Not only that, but I'd say that it beats a lot of those million reads stories on wattpad. It does integrate a sub-plot which people may or may not care for. It all depends on how people take sub-plots.
Pacing: 4/5 I won't lie, I'm one of those readers who want the point to hurry. So this whole book, I've sat on the edge of my seat just waiting for the good stuff. Well, it comes people. The pacing is good, honestly. I do wish we could get a few more insights on the PI and evil step-mother, but the book is ongoing. I shall wait patiently.
Character Development: 5/5 My favorite part about the story is the characters. From Zoya, all the way to Roman. At first, Zoya is closed off and awkward, not only because of her autism but also because meeting some guy who just got out of prison is pretty scary. Slowly, but surely she opens up and her progress is just beautiful. Same goes for Roman. As I said, he's mean and just rude in the beginning. But after a moment between him and Zoya, (I'll leave what happens to your imagination) Roman starts to come around. Their relationship as friends is put into motion. I won't go through supporting characters, I'll leave that for you all.
All Roads Lead Home is a must-read. There are little things mentioned that don't take away from the characters. Such as Zoya's autism. The author doesn't make that the end-all to Zoya where people are constantly reminded that she has a disability. Not only that, but it's hinted at (then later stated) that Zoya is part of the LGBTQ+ community. What I like about that is that the author doesn't use LGBTQ+ as a way to gain reads and votes. She doesn't make Zoya's sexuality her biggest personality point like countless other books do.
I'll say it again, All Roads Lead Home is a must-read. I, Sky, highly recommend you guys to take a gander at it.
Happy reading!
