Yvonne's Pick: Grammarly

Blurb: "Great writing, simplified. Compose bold, clear, mistake-free writing with Grammarly's AI-powered writing assistant."

Why Recommended: You can add it to browsers as an extension, as a keyboard on your phone, or as an app for windows and Microsoft products! It's a free writing assistant with an automated grammar checker. Grammarly helps you write mistake-free in Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and any other app you use. It scans your text for common grammatical mistakes (like misused commas) and complex ones (like misplaced modifiers). I highly recommend it. Did I mention that it's free? You can upgrade, of course, but the free basics are great!

Sky's Pick: Funimation

Blurb: Funimation Global Group, LLC is an American entertainment company that specializes in the dubbing and distribution of East Asian media, most notably Japanese anime.

Why Recommended: I really enjoy anime and I know a lot of other people do too. Funimation is one of the streaming platforms I pay for to stream as much anime as I want. I recommend Funimation because they have a ton of great shows. Not only that, but they have a lot of dubs which you may not be able to find in other places. I personally recommend just paying for a subscription to not get ads but to each their own! It's nice to escape from reality for a bit.

Naomi's Pick: 36 Tricks For More Wattpad Reads, Votes & Comments - A Guide by lralexander

Blurb: So your book isn't being read as much as you want. You might even call it dead in the water.

Have no fear, I'm here to revive your deceased Wattpad novel! You can do away with the outdated guides - this one is for the Wattpad of 2021. I answer questions like: What is the recommended length for a blurb? Does my cover pass the thumbnail test? How strong is your keyword usage in your title and blurb? I provide answers to unique problems that often go overlooked by other guides.

Why Recommended:

I recently came across this book and such guides always interest me, because you never know if you come across a tip you haven't heard before. I found this guidebook especially helpful and full of interesting information. There is info for those who are newer to Wattpad, but also for those who have been on the site/app for a while now. The author gives all the best tips for gaining popularity on Wattpad and wraps it in a unique writing style. I genuinely think this guide will help a lot of people. Hoping to see many more chapters coming up!

Laila's Pick: Dangerous Conceit by ali-lee (sample, full book is now on Amazon)

Blurb:

Lexi is a bartender in disguise, a chameleon-an assassin.

Everything Lexi has become is all to keep a four-year-old girl safe. Moretti knows that Lexi will do whatever he says for the sake of the child and orders her to remove Crime Boss Angelo Tomassi from his throne. With his luxurious hotel, high-end investments, and legion of workers that cater to his every whim, Angelo invokes jealousy from crooked politicians by refusing to give them more shares.

Moretti sends Lexi to take it all.

Lexi is not ignorant of the risks and sees an opportunity to escape Moretti's grasp. She devises a plan to ask for Angelo's help, hoping he will not connect her to Moretti first. Getting on Angelo's good side should be easy when she agrees to go out with the sexy business connoisseur and Angelo's right-hand man, Rafa.

One problem-Rafa is a sharp, no-nonsense elite who says he already knows her. Lexi must find out how before petitioning for the help of the Tomassi Group.

Why Recommended:

I'm a huge fan of mafia romance, so I'm always on the lookout for great, unique mafia romances! Dangerous Conceit is part of the Tomassi series of three different mafia stories, all of which can be read as standalones, but they do intertwine.

The reason Dangerous Conceit is my favorite is because it doesn't follow the typical mafia romance formula where the female lead is unaware of the male lead's lifestyle. I still love those stories too, but seeing a kickass female assassin going head to head with a mobster is always a fun twist. And the way their romance forms through the ups and downs of their situation is so natural and angsty.

I love the entire series, but this one's definitely my favorite!

Loutka's Pick: Open Novella Contest 2020 by OpenNovellaContest

Blurb:

It's official, the open novella contest is back again for a fourth edition!

13 weeks for 20K words minimum, ready for the challenge?

Why Recommended:

The open novella contest is a fun and productive way to write by challenging yourself to write 20K words, based on whatever prompts they list out. I tend to use this contest as a pick me up, whenever I'm in a writing slump, so I'm hoping it can help others in similar ways!
