"Scott..."
Scott looked up questioningly at Vincent, who had spoken. "Yeah?"
"Well... You know about the springlock malfunction, right...?" Vincent was uneasy. This would bring about a lot of unwanted questions.
Scott's grin faded, "What about it?"
"Well..." Vincent said, and glanced down. It was then that Scott looked down and saw what he'd previously missed; a pale white figure staring up at him from between Vincent's legs.
Scott's eyes widened, "Who's that?"
"This," Vincent said, "Is Sammy, the victim of the springlock malfunction and... And my son."
Scott's eyes widened impossibly more, "Your son? As in... Your biological son?"
"Yeah," Vincent said, trying to avoid the question he knew was coming.
Scott hesitated for a second, and then it came, the question he'd been dreading, "To... Your girlfriend?"
Vincent puffed out his cheeks and refused to make eye contact with Scott, "No... To my wife..."
Scott froze for a second, completely and utterly taken aback. "Your what now?"
"Yeah..." Vincent said. "I figured you'd react like that, it not being my first time married and all... She..." He coughed awkwardly, "Died. Soon after the malfunction."
"Oh..." Scott blinked, and then knelt down to look at the little boy between Vincent's legs. "Hi..." He said timidly.
Sammy waved slightly.
Scott smiled and looked up at Vincent, "He's cute. He's got your eyes."
"All ghosts are pale-eyed," Vincent waved it off, "You're not... Mad at my being married before?"
"Mad? No. Shocked? A little. Still happy to marry you? Totally," Scott grinned and then looked back at the ghost, "Does this make him my step-son?"
"I... Yeah, if you want..." Vincent said, a little bewildered at how well Scott was taking it.
"Awesome," Scott said, and stood up again.
"So..." Vincent almost wanted to ask once more if Scott wasn't mad, but decided to change the subject, "Guess that makes us parents?"
"Yeah... Though I don't know how much parenting you can give to a ghost..." Scott frowned slightly and then shook his head, "You're purple and I had a literal phone for a head that was turned normal by some freaky Twitch-magic. I don't think anything is too weird for me anymore."
Vincent laughed, "Yeah, that's true. Sammy, say hi to your step-Dad."
Sammy looked up at Scott and then stuck out his tongue before fading away.
Scott raised an eyebrow, "He takes after his father."
"One of them," Vincent grinned.
