Moonlight Lullaby
Moonlight Lullaby
Life has been cold and partings unsweet
How can the night feel so serene?
The path is my own; my life, yours
The moon forever remains pristine
Alas, in the darkness it'll forever shine
To forever light your way
Till your troubled heart and my silent cries
Have flown away
Once did a girl who shone like the stars
Look out at night and smile
Thus she said, "Surely, there is no fair lady so
lovely and docile"
So regal was she and so gifted she was
For so long the light dimmed
It soon grew dark upon the child she loved
Becoming black as moons flew by
Not long that girl did notice that others,
Did not give her child a chance
Neither had she adored her as should
She watched as the darkness continued to advance
Such is the way of the empty spotlight, it delights
In warping the mind of its host
Yet, that naïve girl was powerless to save
What was left of her child, an untouchable ghost
Kwaheri moon child, goodnight sweet princess
Rest now in Lady Moon's embrace
Rise up my lullaby, on yonder's winds
Through sky, and through time, and through space
Deliver the serenity and the beauty of night
And carry my regrets in goodwill
Darling, you're loved so much than you believe
May troubles be far from your heart
And forgive me for tearing us apart
The centuries before me
Knowing the unknown
I never dreamed of
Facing them alone
May these eternal summers
Quickly pass, I pray
Je t'aime, Tu me manques
All these centuries away
Let all your wishes come true tonight
Sleeping on your bed of moonlight
And feel not of sadness, pain, nor rage
And then I'll fly away and free you from the dark cage
Sleep....
Sleep....
Dream your fears away and fly with me tonight...
Sleep....
