Hmm.. I guess that's pretty easy. I love the way they work, and I'm the type that likes to just go for it in battle! I go with the "hit and run" tactic, which is perfect for rollers! Battle is just so much easier when you can ink on the run and swing ink everywhere.
But on the other hand, chargers are used for long range attacks, AND you have to charge it up to get a good shot. Sitting on top of a wall all day and trying to aim at other squids from there isn't really fun, and turfing ink is harder too! Not only that, you're basically doomed if you end up in a close-range battle with someone else. They'll just splat you before you can even began charging up!

So ya, that's basically why I prefer using the roller. Of course, no hate to chargers because those are great too. It's your preference, honestly! And I'll have to say that I do get splatted by snipers a lot and they always prevent me from going to the places I need to go to. (Especially Marie, she's really good with it..)
