Chapter 8

Autumn's point of view

I sat on Ashton's driveway, my phone in my hand and music blaring out of it. I was alone out here so I didn't have to worry about it being uncensored and 'inappropriate'.

I couldn't get the whole Luke and Taylor thing out of my mind. Everytime they were together, they looked as if they were actually dating. Every time I brought him up, she'd say they were just friends and that she loves me.

How can I believe that? Seriously, how? We started off as 'just friends'. The next thing you know, Mr. Hot Shot Hemmings is going to be in a car with Taylor and have a 'just married' sign on the back of it.

I groaned and put my head down. I was too jealous and protective for my own good. I should just butt out of it because maybe they are just close friends, but I can't help it.

Luke was everything and I was nothing. He was six foot four with nice blue eyes and perfect blonde hair. He's good at singing and playing guitar. He's funny, smart, charming, and just overall perfect.

Then you have me. I was five foot seven with boring hazel eyes and dead dyed hair. The only thing I am good at is complaining and whining. I'm bitter, annoying, a freak, and stupid.

He has it all, and I am literally moldy cheese compared to him. Not to mention he actually has a future and a family and doesn't need to depend on someone like I do. He doesn't need someone to make him happy and to keep him sane.

I, on the other hand, didn't have that. I don't have a future because I'm not good at anything and my family is broken. My dad is a druggie and alcoholic, my brother is famous, my mum has two other kids, oh, and they've been divorced for years.

"Autumn?" I heard someone ask and I just kept my head down as the song 'Beautiful' by Eminem blared out of my phone. "Are you okay?"

"Yes."

"You don't look okay." I felt someone sit beside me and I looked up. "Want to talk about it?" Calum asked me and I just shrugged. "Need a hug?"

"A hug would be nice," I said and he opened his arms. I leaned into him and he wrapped his arms around me. "And it's nothing."

"If it's enough to make you upset, it's obviously something. However, if you want want to tell me about it, that's fine. I won't push you." He said to me.

"I was just thinking," I said and sighed. "About Luke and Taylor."

"They're just friends-"

"But that's the thing Calum. Me and Taylor started off as just friends." I said and he sighed. "She could easily leave me for him, even if she isn't completely into guys, she's always been curious."

"Luke wouldn't help someone cheat Autumn, it's okay." He told me and I nodded. "He's not like that. He may seem like it, but he wouldn't do that. I've known him since we were kids."

"Okay." I said believing him. My phone buzzed and I sighed. I looked at it and it said that they know where I am and they're coming for me.

"Who's that?"

"Taylor playing with me. She always does that." I lied and just went back to my music. He nodded and I yawned. "Do you want me to turn it off? I will if you want. Not many people like him."

"No, it's fine. I liked this song." He told me as he ran his hand through my hair. He hummed along and I chuckled as I closed my eyes.

He gives such nice hugs.

"I'll be you, let's trade shoes, just to see what it'd be like to, feel your pain, you feel mine, go inside each other's minds, just to see what we find, look at shit through each other's eyes." He sang quietly and I yawned again.

"What the hell is going on here?"

"I'm singing Eminem, shut up Ashton." Calum said and I laughed. "It's nothing really. She just needed a comforting hug and since I was here, I was just like, hey, let's see if my hug is good enough."

"You're an idiot." I said and laughed. We pulled away and I looked at Ashton. "I'm with Taylor, it's okay." I said and he nodded.

"Come on, come inside. We're about to have a movie marathon with lots of popcorn and soda." Ashton said and I nodded.

We stood up and I turned my music off. I followed the two into the house and then I heard loud giggling. Taylor's giggling.

"Luke! That was for the movie you dork." She said and I just rolled my eyes as I saw them all cuddled up.

I made my way to mine and Taylor's room and then opened the door. I grabbed a hoodie and then pulled it on.

"Wait," I said as I smelt cologne. I immediately tore the jacket off of me and looked at it. "Well fuck, it's Luke's." I said and went to the closet. I grabbed my flannel shirt and pulled it on.

I shoved my phone in my pocket and then walked out of my room, pushing past Ashton and Calum. "Shut up Taylor, you know you love me."

"Of course I do, how can someone not love you?" She asked, and Ashton began to call my name out. "Ash, how can someone hate Luke?"

"I don't know." He said quickly and I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Don't leave. Just stay here." He told me and I ran a hand through my hair.

"While my girlfriend and him are cuddled up like a couple and feeding each other popcorn while saying 'I love you' to each other? No way." I snapped and sighed. "I'm sorry. I just-I need some more fresh air."

"Do you want some company?" He asked me and I thought about it. "I can skip the movie night. It's always 'Mean Girls' and then some other old comedy movie."

"I don't know." I said honestly. "I want to be alone but I feel as if I'll do something stupid if I'm alone." I told him and he held up a finger.

"I'll go get my jacket and then I'll go with you." He said and I nodded. He walked away and Taylor came up to me.

"Baby, where you going?" She asked and I almost puked because she reeked of Luke's cologne. "You're not watching the movie with us?"

"I need to go out and do something Tay," I said. "I'll be back before it ends. Don't worry." I told her and she pouted.

"Taylor! Why did you leave me? I wanna cuddle!"

"Be there in a second Luke." She said and I looked at her. "Are you okay? You seem upset." She said and I nodded.

"I'm fine." I said. "I'm just going to go out and spend some more time with Ashton, one little outing wasn't enough." I said and she nodded.

"I'll see you soon then Autumn." She said and kissed my cheek. She walked away and I just watched.

Autumn? What happened to baby? Or princess? Or baby girl? What happened to the 'stay safe'? Or the 'be careful please'? Or even 'I love you'? What's going on?

"Dammit Luke! You got popcorn in my shirt!" Taylor laughed out. I grit my teeth and then walked out of the house.

"Autumn, hold on. I'm coming. I had to put actual shoes on so it took longer." Ashton said and it looked behind me. He closed the door and them smiled.

"I hate your bandmate."

"Why?"

"He is way too close to my girlfriend." I said as we began to walk away from the house. "It's makes me uncomfortable."

"Are you jealous?"

"Would you be jealous if your girlfriend was being cuddled by another woman and saying 'I love you' to her and fed each other food?" I asked. "Would you get jealous if she almost grabbed her ass in front of you or sang dirty lyrics while looking at her?"

"I'd probably be jealous and turned on."

"Straight men and their lesbian fetishes." I grumbled and he laughed. "Seriously Ashton, wouldn't you be upset? Especially while knowing your girlfriend is curious about getting with a girl?"

"I would have blew up because why do that with her when you could be with me?" He said and I nodded. "I see your point."

"Exactly." I said and rolled my eyes. "It also doesn't help that he's literally perfect and I'm garbage." I sighed and he wrapped a arm around my shoulder.

"You're not garbage," he told me. "And Luke is not perfect. No one is." He said and I shook my head.

"Well he is pretty fucking close." I said and he laughed. "It's making me mad because he isn't as problematic as I am and maybe that's why she's with him more than me."

"You're not problematic."

"You've known me for just a little bit. Taylor's known and helped me for years. Maybe she's tired of doing it." I said and leaned my head on Ashton's shoulder.

"I highly doubt-"

"You don't know anything Ash," I said quietly, not trying to snap or bring attention to us. "I'm sorry but you have no idea what went on while I was gone." I told him.

"You're right." He sighed after a moment of silence between us. "I don't know anything and you won't tell me about it." He told me and I sighed myself as I pulled away from him.

"It's not something I can just blurt out. It's not what I want for dinner Ashton. It's hard to bring up and think about." I said as I rubbed my arm.

"You're right, it probably is. You don't have to tell me yet, or at all. It's fine. I won't push you to tell me. I'm sorry." He told me and I nodded, thanking him.

"Hey babygirl," someone whistled and I looked around. "Looking sexy. Shake that ass for me why don't you?" He told me, sending me a wink.

"Shut it or I'll shut it for you asshole." Ashton said and I have to say he looked kind of intimidating. With his all black outfit and leather and bandana and clenched jaw, he looked like he was one of those 'bad guys'.

"Like some boy band dude can hurt me."

"No," I said to Ashton as he pulled his fist back. "It's not worth it. Your career Ashton, remember. You don't want to ruin it." I said.

"He just disrespected my little sister, he ca-"

"He's not worth it." I said and tugged him away from the disgusting man. I took my flannel off and then wrapped it around my waist because I don't like being cat called at.

"Here." Ashton shrugged his leather jacket off and put it around me. "Use it to cover it a bit so it doesn't happen again." He told me and I nodded and I put it on.

"Thank you."

"It's nothing." He said and ran a hand through his hair. "It's really disgusting how men can treat and talk to women that way. Girls shouldn't have to cover up or stay in so they can feel safe. It's sad they have to." Ashton said.

"Yeah." I agreed and laughed. "I am going to smell like you now." I said because his scent was all over the jacket. "You smell good, wow, shocking." I said, turning the conversation away from the cat calling.

"Of course I smell good. I can't go smelling like fart everywhere I go, can I?" He asked and I laughed.

"You're an idiot."

"Hey, at least I'm an idiot that smells good."
