Tunnel fakes. - chapter 28
The next day, I woke up, but Dally was still asleep. This time, he really was asleep.
I snuck out of the room and grabbed a soda left over from the show, last night. It was warm, but I needed something to wake me up. I took a long swig of Coke and put it down on the table.
I went back into the room and Dally was gone. The window was wide open. Uh oh.
I ran up to the window and looked outside. Dally was standing there, and inch away from some New York hood. The hood was a foot taller then he was and had 3 other hoods standing behind him. I then noticed how Dally got down there. There was a pipe next to the window, attached to the brick wall.
I slid down the pipe, myself, and stood next to Dally. "What are you doing here?" he muttered under his breath.
"Helping you." I muttered back, smirking.
Dally put his hand on my shoulder. "Help me from the side lines." he said. "I don't want you getting hurt."
I was angry by then. "Oh yeah?!" I screamed, kicking one of the guys in the stomach.
He smiled. "Sure, you're tough, but that doesn't mean I should risk your life for something I started."
"And what did you start, exactly?" I asked.
"Well," he said, guilty. "I might have... Kinda... Sorta... Yelled at 'em through the window. I didn't realize, at the time, that they all were Tunnel Fakes!"
"It's Tunnel SNAKES!" One of the guys yelled. I spat at him. I'm not your typical gal, as ya might've noticed.
"Same thing!" Dally sneered, sticking out his tongue.
A few guys came at us. One went to hit me in the jaw, but I blocked him and pushed him back, onto the concrete. He guy groaned as another one attacked me. (Dally the was still fighting against the big one.)
The next guy twisted my wrist back and I nearly cried out for help, but stopped myself before Dally heard, but he was still frightened that I was hurt.
I then noticed a cop car pulling up. I had another idea. I whispered in Dally's ear, "Pretend that you're hurt and ask that cop for help."
"What?!" he whisper/screamed back. "Are you crazy?"
"No." I said. "Leave me here. I'll break down into tears. When they try to hit me, call the cop over."
Dally hesitated. "Okay." he said. "But be careful." I nodded and he ran toward the cop. I let the fake tears flow from my eyes as the hoods closed in on me. I didn't have to try so hard to fake cry, my wrist really hurt. As they closed in on me, they seemed to look even more deadly than before. Maybe this was a bad idea.
Then, I heard Dally scream, "Sir, they got my girlfriend. She's in trouble!"
"Help!" I screamed. I heard the cop run over. He hit a few guys with the night stick. A guy dropped to the ground and the rest ran.
The cop looked at me. "Thank you, sir." I said. "You saved my life."
"Don't mention it, kid." he said, nodding. He walked back to his car.
Dally ran up to me, hugging me. "Are you okay?!" he yelled.
I hugged him back. For a second, I thought we were putting on a show for the cop. Then, the cop car drove off. I went to let go of him,... but he wouldn't let me. We stood there for about half an hour, then, we got to the car and started home. It was long and quiet for a while... Long and quiet.
