Kissing in the rain
Simp4CaptainRex requested kissing in the rain.
You didn't say with whom the kiss was between, but I think I made a pretty good guess.
Tw: Illness, language, mildly sexual content?
"We're going out to 79's," Kix called out from across the room. "Do you want to come? I'm sure the others would be fine with it."
"I'm not sure," Alana hesitantly responded, voice filled with uncertainty.
"Why not?" Kix put a hand on his hip and rolled his eyes. "Ahsoka loves you! So does Fives, but I could fight him off for you."
"Yeah, but Rex doesn't." Alana sighed. She screwed the lid back on the jar of cotton swabs and dipped the one she had grabbed in cleaning alcohol.
Kix stayed silent for a moment and turned his back to her as he sorted a pile of bandages. "Right."
Alana wiped the cotton along the cut on Jesse's face, returning her attention to her patient. "Don't say it like that."
"Like what?" Kix innocently asked.
Alana flashed him a glare. "Like he doesn't. He does. It's a fact."
Kix groaned and spun around, brandishing a pile of gauze at her. "Where's your proof? You have no idea if he hates you because you avoid talking to him! Maybe just have a conversation with him!"
Alana shook her head. "Nope. I'm good. I'll just stay here while you go out to 79's. Have fun."
Kix grumbled but relented. "Fine. But next time, you're coming."
"We'll see," Alana carefully replied, patting Jesse on the head. "And you're all good. You can go now."
Jesse bounced up out of his seat. "He totally doesn't hate you."
Kix shot him a sharp look. "Jesse. What have I told you about staying out of other peoples' business? Sometimes people have to figure things out for themselves!"
Alana grinned at Jesse. "And don't you try to convince me too."
Jesse sighed and left the med bay, aimlessly wandering the hallways. For some reason, he ended up in front of Rex's office. He had nothing better to do, so he knocked on the door.
"Yes?" Rex asked after he opened the door.
"Alana thinks you hate her," Jesse blurted out. Then he facepalmed.
Rex's eyebrows went up. "What? Why would she- I mean, why would I care?"
Jesse shrugged and plopped himself down in the other chair in the office. "I dunno. Just thought you'd want to know considering you have the fattest crush ever on her."
Rex spluttered as his entire face went red. "I- Not that- You- She-"
Jesse held up a hand. "Let's not. You really don't want to embarrass yourself further."
"But why does she think I hate her?" Rex asked, letting his head thunk on his desk.
"Maybe because whenever you're alone with her you just stare awkwardly at her? It's honestly a miracle she doesn't think you're some kind of creep," Jesse remarked.
"How do I fix this?" Rex groaned and rubbed at his face tiredly. "Do I just... tell her I like her?"
"Absolutely not," Jesse sternly said. "You can't just tell a girl you like her! It's a mind game. You have to out-think her."
Rex, for some reason, decided to take Jesse's advice. He didn't even know why he was listening to Jesse.
"Can you... help me, please?" Rex weakly asked.
"Of course," Jesse solemnly promised. "Starting now, I'll be your wingman."
Rex immediately got a feeling that he had made a mistake.
"Hey, Kix?" Alana yelled, unable to find him. "I have to go pick up some supplies that didn't get delivered with the rest! I contacted them and they said to just pick it up!"
Kix walked into the room, brushing his hands off on his legs. "Oh, just make sure you make it back in time for tonight."
Alana's forehead pinched. "What's happening tonight? Did I forget something?"
"We're taking you to 79's," Kix said with a bright smile.
Alana's face crumpled. "Not this again. I'm not going!"
"What if Rex doesn't come?" Kix pleaded. "We just want to hang out with you!"
Alana pursed her lips. "Fine. I'll go."
"Great! I'll tell the others!" Kix gave her the kind of smile that crinkles the corners of your eyes, and Alana felt bad for holding out for so long. He really wanted this.
"I'll be back soon," Alana told him, grabbing her purse from a table. "Also I'm not paying for my own drinks."
Then she slipped out the door, making her way to the warehouse to pick up the rest of the supplies. But seriously, who screws up that badly? And then makes the person you didn't deliver it to pick it up?
Alana finally found herself outside the building. She opened the door and patiently waited in front of a desk as the man behind it talked to his colleague.
She waited, and waited, and waited.
"Excuse me," Alana apologetically interrupted after five minutes. "But I'm here for the supplies?"
The man turned to face her, pasting a smile on his face. "Of course! Sorry about the wait, but uh... I was busy."
His colleague leaned back in their chair and scrolled on a device in their hand.
"That's okay." Alana offered a strained smile in return. "Can I just get the missing delivery? I'm kind of in a hurry."
"Mhm. Yeah." The man stepped into a back room and returned with a crate in his arms. He handed it over to her and then kriffing sneezed all over Alana's face.
Alana froze in horror as the mucus lay on her face, touching her mouth.
"Oops." The man didn't look too concerned. "Anyways, I need you to sign this."
Alana distractedly signed for the package and wiped her face off, gagging as her sleeve was then covered in a stranger's bacteria. "I just... Goodbye."
The man grunted and turned away.
Alana thought some very unflattering names, didn't say any of them, and went back to Kix. She handed him the supplies. "Some guy sneezed on my face."
Kix wrinkled his nose. "Ew. Why don't you go back to your room and get cleaned up. I'll send someone to pick you up to go to 79's."
Alana happily agreed and shuffled off. She cleaned herself and changed into a fresh set of clothes. When someone knocked on her door, she answered it, only to tense up.
"Oh," was all Alana said as she stared up at Rex.
He sheepishly smiled. "Hi."
"Hi," she awkwardly responded. Alana stared down at her feet as she felt his gaze bore into her.
"Kix sent me," Rex explained, leaning his weight on one leg. "He- Uh, said I'm taking you to 79's? He'll meet us there."
Alana was going to kill Kix.
"I can't," Alana lied. She desperately tried to think of an excuse before blurting out, "I'm sick."
"You... don't look sick." Rex's eyes flicked up her body, lingering too long on her lips.
Maker. Did she have food in her face?
"It just came on." Alana coughed to prove it. "See?"
Rex didn't look convinced. "Why are you dressed to go out?"
Alana glanced down at her dress, toying with the hem. "Oh, right. I'll go change to stay in."
"Staying home is good for being sick," Rex blandly said.
They stared at each other for an awkward moment before she shut the door and pulled on her pajamas. She sighed and opened it again, motioning to her clothes. "See? I'm sick."
Rex reached out and pressed his hand to her forehead, and Alana was suddenly struck by how close he was. If she took a deep breath their chests would brush.
She also noticed how pleasant his eyes looked. The rest of him wasn't too bad either.
"You don't feel warm," Rex commented as he pulled away. "But maybe the fever hasn't started yet."
"I- I do feel lightheaded," Alana said, still locked in on his eyes.
"Oh?" Rex's expression shifted from one of suspicion to one of concern. "Because you're sick?"
"Yeah," Alana told him, even though it wasn't the truth. "I think I'm going to lie down."
"I'll tell Kix you couldn't make it." Rex took a step back. "And I'll check in on you in the morning."
"You really don't have to do that," Alana assured him.
"It's fine." Rex shook his head. He smiled warmly. "I want to."
Alana shut the door and leaned against it, wondering what the kriff just happened. Why was her stomach fluttering?
She climbed into bed and let her eyes fall shut. After a couple minutes her datapad buzzed. She checked it to find a message from Kix.
Kix: Wtf. Ur totally not sick
Alana scowled.
Alana: i am. That guys sneezed on me, remember?
Kix: liar. U were just too scared to go with Rex even tho he's TOTALLY fine
Alana rolled her eyes and turned the datapad off. She debated it for a minute.
Rex was nice. He wasn't mean or weird at all really. So why did she avoid him?
Alana: Tell me the truth. Does he actually hate me?
Kix: No u dumbass. And I've already told u that like a billion times. He likes u, u kriffing moron
Alana scoffed.
Alana: No he doesn't. And he's got a weird way of showing it if he does. He like is always staring at me and he's always trying to talk to me and...
Kix: 🤨
Alana: Kark. U were right.
Kix: And he looked over at my screen just as you were saying he hates u
Alana grabbed her coat and sprinted out the door.
It was raining when she found him.
He was outside of 79's, watching the speeders go by. His eyes widened as he saw her, and he opened his mouth.
"I'd like to say something," Alana said before he could speak.
Rex shrugged and turned away.
"I thought you hated me because win an idiot. I guess I was too scared to realize I like you. I like you the way I know you like me," Alana hurriedly said, shivering in the rain. "You're so nice and I can't stop thinking about kissing you and-"
Rex surged forward and placed his hands on her cheeks before he kissed her. She stiffened for a moment before she melted into him, bringing her arms up to wrap around his neck.
The kiss was desperate and he had waited for so long that he waited for almost as long to breathe. When he finally did pull back he stared at her.
Maker, she was perfect.
With the rain droplets collecting in her eyelashes and her mouth parted as she caught her breath, he couldn't think of anything else in the galaxy.
"I want to do that again and again until I can't get the feeling of you off my lips," Rex murmured to her, voice rasping slightly.
Alana thickly swallowed and slowly nodded. "I'd like that."
He smiled softly at her as he pressed his forehead against hers. "I'm just glad Jesse didn't convince me to gift you a box of chocolates every day until you married me."
"Jesse's ideas are sweet but also creepy." Alana laughed.
