Field medic, part one

This is a bit of a long one shot, but it's all fluff!

No murder, or torture, or memory erasing, just pure fluff.

"Hello," the woman said as she put her bag down next to the ramp. "I'm your new field medic."

"Hey," Hunter greeted her, leaning against the ramp. "I'm Sergeant Hunter. You have a name?"

"Yes," she answered.

He watched her for a moment before saying, "Are you gonna tell me it?"

"You didn't ask what my name was, you only asked if I had one," she reminded him. "But since you asked, I will tell you. My name is Nadia."

"Tech's gonna love you," Hunter muttered under his breath.

"I was just messing with you," Nadia smiled. "And who's Tech?"

"I'll introduce you to him and the others now," Hunter told her and stepped aside so she could enter the ship.

He led her inside, and pointed to a muscular man bench pressing a droid.

"This is Wrecker," Hunter told her.

"Hello, Wrecker," Nadia politely said. "My name is Nadia."

"Hiya!" Wrecker said and let the droid fall to the ground.

"Over there is Crosshair," Hunter pointed at a man with a scowl on his face.

"Hello," Nadia said to him. "My name is Nadia."

"Mhm," Crosshair responded and stormed off.

"Don't mind him, he's a little prickly to newcomers," Hunter sighed before guiding her to the cockpit.

A goggled man looked up at her in surprise. "Who's this?"

"This is our new field medic," Hunter explained. "Tech, this is Nadia. Nadia, this is Tech."

"It's a pleasure to meet you," Tech smiled pleasantly.

"I was about to say the same thing!" Nadia laughed. "Say, is that the newest datpad model? I've never seen one like that before."

"Not exactly," Tech shook his head. "It's an older model, but I adjusted it, making it specific to my needs."

"Impressive," Nadia commented, studying the device in Tech's hands. "Did you have any trouble with the main circuit panel?"

"As a matter of fact I did," Tech said. "However, I resolved the issue quickly."

"This model is known for shutting down if one tries to mess with the main circuit panel. You did a remarkable job," Nadia praised.

"Thank you," Tech's face flushed.

"I'll leave you two alone," Hunter said, an amused smirk playing on his lips.

"What did he mean by that?" Nadia asked as Hunter walked away.

"Unknown," Tech responded.

"Um, he forgot to tell me where I could put my things," Nadia said and held up her bag.

"I'll rectify that mistake," Tech smiled and showed her to an extra bunk with a drawer tucked underneath. "This will be yours while you're a part of this squad."

"Thanks!" Nadia beamed at him and put her bag on the bunk.

"Gar cuyir mesh'la," Tech remarked, watching her carefully.

"What?" Nadia tilted her head.

"I asked if you were a clone," Tech breezily replied. "In Mando'a, a language widely spoken by clones."

"Oh, I'm not a clone," Nadia shook her head.

"I gathered as much when you didn't understand what I said," Tech told her.

"I'm a volunteer medic," Nadia clarified.

"How long will you be our medic?" Tech inquired.

Nadia shrugged. "I don't know."

"I hope you'll be sticking around," Tech smiled, then finished the rest of the sentence hesitantly, "mesh'la."

"What does that mean?" Nadia questioned.

"Don't concern yourself with it," Tech softly smiled.

"Okay..." Nadia pursed her lips. "Anyway, I look forward to working with you."

"And I in return," Tech adjusted his goggles.

"Wrecker, I need you to hold still," Nadia scolded as she held the needle up to his neck.

"Sorry," Wrecker sheepishly said.

"It's alright," Nadia assured him and stuck the needle into him. "Just be careful the next to you see something sharp okay? Don't poke yourself on it again."

"Okay," Wrecker agreed. "Sometimes ya jus' want to touch it though."

"Mesh'la I..." Tech trailed off when he saw Wrecker sitting there.

"Mesh'la?" Wrecker echoed.

"Yeah, Tech's been calling me that for some reason," Nadia nodded. "I don't know what it means though."

"I could tell ya what it means," Wrecker offered.

"She will be fine," Tech shot Wrecker a dirty look.

"Maybe I should come up with a nickname for Tech!" Nadia gasped in excitement.

"How 'bout Cyra'ika?" Wrecker suggested, a smirk blossoming on his face.

"What does that mean?" Nadia curiously asked.

"Doesn't matter," Wrecker said. "Wanna call Tech Cyra'ika though?"

"I guess?" Nadia shrugged.

"This is unnecessary," Tech narrowed his eyes at Wrecker. "Very unnecessary."

"Aw, don't be like that, Crya'ika," Nadia teased, testing out the new nickname.

Tech started blushing and ran off.

"What's with him?" Crosshair wondered as he walked toward Nadia to get a medical check.

"I don't know," Nadia thoughtfully said.

"He calls her Mesh'la," Wrecker told Crosshair, whose face immediately lit up in happiness.

"Please tell me you're not joking!" Crosshair pleaded.

"I'm not," Wrecker seriously said.

Crosshair's face turned into one of pure joy. "I can't wait to hold this over his head!"

"You know what it means too?" Nadia asked.

"Indeed I do!" Crosshair cackled.
