Cody and Lucas and the middle of the night

I'm here to make up for my lack of Cody content. I hope that my sins will be forgiven with this one.

Also yayyyyy pride month!

Welcome to FLUFFFFFFF

and just a bit of angst. Just a little bit.

Tw: Sexual references, blood, violence, language.

Life was certainly interesting when you were dating a commander.

Lucas was a waiter at a restaurant the 212th often visited. Whenever they had enough credits for a proper meal, they came to the restaurant. Lucas was always sure to give them a little extra, knowing they probably didn't get fed the most well-tasting food in the galaxy.

One fateful visit, Cody had worked up the courage to ask him out. He had said yes, and five months later they were in a steady relationship. Cody knew the code to Lucas's apartment and it was the first stop he made whenever he was on Coruscant, no matter the time.

So here are the three times Cody came home, and the incident that took place after Lucas got too comfortable with him.

The first time Cody came home in the middle of the night, Lucas was startled. But a quick apology from Cody made his heart melt.

"Don't scare me like that," Lucas scolded, but kissed him all the same.

"I'll try," Cody promised. "I was just tired and I guess I forgot to message you saying I was coming."

"Come on, then." Lucas led him into the bedroom. "You can stay the night."

So Cody stripped his armour off and climbed into the bed next to him, sleeping soundly in less than five minutes.

The next morning, Lucas woken to Cody lying atop him, crushing his lungs. Lucas managed to push him off, with him waking as he fell to the floor.

Cody blinked up at him, blearily rubbing his face. "Wha-?"

"You were on top of me again." Lucas threw a pillow at him.

Cody chuckled and caught it as it bounced off his chest. "Sorry, darling."

The second time, he heard the code being punched in, Lucas had rolled his eyes at the loud beep the door made as the locks deactivated, letting the door slide aside.

"Sorry, darling." Cody tossed his helmet onto the couch, reaching out to hug him.

Lucas wrinkled his nose as he dodged his boyfriend's grasp. "Ew. You're all sweaty. Go shower."

"Want to join?" Cody raised an eyebrow suggestively.

"It's the middle of the night." Lucas yawned, covering his mouth. "Absolutely not."

Cody shrugged, turning to go rinse. "No harm in trying."

Lucas crawled back into his bed, pulling the covers over his head as he quickly fell back asleep. Cody whipped the blankets off when he was finished and dived in next to him, abruptly pulling Lucas from his slumber.

"You're still wet!" Lucas complained as Cody's hair dripped onto the pillow. "You're changing the bed tomorrow!"

"Deal." Cody turned his head and kissed the corner of Lucas' mouth before frowning. "I must be exhausted. My aim's usually fantastic. I should do some target practise tomorrow."

"No. You're spending the day with me, not your blaster," Lucas firmly said, kissing his mouth.

Cody grinned. "Yes, sir, but it was a joke."

"Don't call me that." Lucas closed his eyes. "I'm not in the military."

Cody buried his face in Lucas' neck, sighing deeply. "Yes, sir."

"No."

"Very well." Cody rolled so he was once again, lying completely on top of Lucas. "I'll just sleep here."

Lucas grunted, trying to shove him off. "Y- You're gonna kill me! You're kriffing heavy?"

"Watch the language," Cody warned with a teasing smile tugging at his lips. "There's children around."

"What?" Lucas demanded. "What kids?"

Cody looked around before whispering, "Your neighbours have kids."

Lucas smacks his shoulder. "Their kids are asleep! And the walls are thick! I thought you had kidnapped a child or something. Don't scare me like that!"

"Yes, sir."

"Cody."

"Sorry."

The third time, Cody had messaged ahead. Lucas was aware he was coming and had even unlocked the door in advance. When Cody waltzed through the door, Lucas perked up from his spot on the couch, smiling widely.

"Hey, darling." Cody kissed Lucas softly before settling next to him. "I got you something."

Lucas cocked a brow. "Why?"

"For your birthday?" Cody asked hesitantly, suddenly doubting himself.

"Oh! Right!" Lucas laughed. "I had forgotten."

Cody sighed in relief and handed Lucas a present. "Sorry it's not wrapped the best... I had Boil help me."

"It's beautiful," Lucas lied, holding the atrocity that was the gift. He loved it all the same, though. It was made by Cody.

"Open it," Cody eagerly said.

Lucas tore into it, fumbling with the massive amounts of tape before finally revealing the gift. He turned to Cody with an awestruck look. "You remembered!"

Cody relaxed, seeing that his boyfriend loved the gift. "I did."

Lucas hung the welcome sign over the door, placing his hands on his hips as he admired it. "They really do look like us."

The 'gnomes' as Lucas had called them, looked nothing like them in Cody's opinion, but he nodded.

"They really do." Cody wrapped his arms around Lucas from behind. "Happy birthday."

"Thank you." Lucas lifted one of Cody's hands to kiss his knuckles. "I love you."

No matter how many times he heard it, Cody's breath still caught in his throat. "I love you too. And I always will. I'll always be there for you."

Lucas knew Cody was coming. That's why he had the door unlocked and his best shirt on. He was waiting excitedly for his boyfriend, staring at the door.

He heard his datapad ding, and hurried to his bedroom to check it. He heard the front door open once he had reached the room, and shouted out to Cody, "I'll be out in a minute!"

Only for his blood to turn to ice when he read the message.

Cody <3: Hey, darling. I'm going to be a bit late. General Kenobi wanted to speak to me.

"Who's in the apartment?" Lucas whispered to himself.

He barricaded the bedroom door with a dresser, trembling as he curled up in the corner. He pulled out his comm and tried to get i contact with Cody.

"Please, please, please," Lucas pleaded quietly as his hand holding the comm device shook.

"This is Commander Cody of the Galactic Army of the Republic. I'm unavailable right now, but I'll get back to you when I can. Don't leave a message. I won't listen to it."

"Kark," Lucas cursed.

"I know you're in there." A voice came from the other side of the door. "Let us in."

Us.

There was more than one.

Lucas sent frantic messages to Cody as his eyes brimmed with tears. This couldn't be happening.  Why wasn't Cody here? Cody had promised that he would always be there for him.

"Oh, you poor thing." The intruder's voice had a mocking tone to it. "So scared, huh?"

"W- Who are you?" Lucas questioned, searching the room for something to defend himself with.

They laughed and paused before answering, "An old friend of your little boyfriend."

Cody was little. He was strong enough to defend Lucas.

But he wasn't here.

"If you're a friend, why did you break in?" Lucas' fingers wrapped around a hairbrush.

"I didn't break in." They seemed amused. "The door was unlocked."

Tears were running down his face. "P-please, leave me alone! He's not here!"

"Oh, but you are. And he cares very much about you." Lucas could hear a blaster being switched on. "And he isn't responding, is he?"

Lucas shivered with terror, outright shaking in the corner. The hairbrush he was clutching wasn't much of a weapon, but it would have to do.

His comm buzzed in his pocket and he sobbed in relief as he answered it, hearing Cody's concerned voice.

"Darling? What's wrong?"

"T-there's someone here!" Lucas violently sobbed. "T-they're trying to hurt me! I b-blocked the door to the bedroom but they're n-not going away!"

There was silence before: "I'm on my way. I'll be there soon. Don't let them in."

"You're twenty minutes away!" Lucas pointed out.

"I'll be there in ten. Don't hang up so I can hear everything."

"O-okay," Lucas agreed.

"Did you manage to get though to him?" The person on the other side of the door pushed, and the dresser shifted slightly.

A sob was torn from Lucas' throat. "I- I have a weapon."

"So do I."

The dresser was shoved aside, and a tall woman and a bulky man stepped into the room. Both of them had blasters.

"Cody, t-they're inside." Lucas was crying. Snot and tears covered his face. "Cody, I love you."

"Darling, don't you dare say that."

"Aw, how cute," the woman cooed. Her expression turned into one of disgust. "This revenge is going to be so sweet. Your boyfriend put us in prison. And we finally got out."

"Cody, I love you." Lucas reached out to the comm as the intruders stalked closer. "And because I love you, I don't want you to hear this."

"Darling, don't you fucking dare-"

Lucas severed the connection.

"So sweet." The woman gripped Lucas' chin and examined his face. "I almost feel bad."

Then she smashed his head against the dresser.

Cody was livid.

He was going to kill whoever touched his darling.

He was sprinting down the streets to reach the apartment. As fast as he could. It wasn't fast enough. He'd never make it.

His eyes were stinging, but he didn't know if it was tears or if the wind was in his face.

Eventually he burst into the apartment to find the intruders gone. Everything was a mess and trashed. Blood was splattered on the walls.

"Darling?" Cody's breath caught in his chest.

A faint groan made his eyes widened. He followed the sound to find Lucas, bloodied and beaten.

"Darling." Cody fell to his knees by Lucas' side. "I'll get you a doctor." He pulled his comm out and made the call.

"C- Cody." Lucas smiled weakly.

"I know. We'll get you help. Just stay with me." Cody cupped Lucas' cheeks desperately, stroking his skin. His touch only smeared the blood.

"I love you," Lucas whispered.

"Don't you dare," Cody furiously said, his tears falling onto Lucas' face. "If you die, I'm going to be pissed at you!"

Lucas' eyes fluttered. "Mhm."

And Cody cried as Lucas' eyes closed.

Cody cried harder when Lucas' chest stopped rising.

He sobbed, clutching Lucas in his grasp as the emergency help arrived.

And he cried in relief, hours later, when the tired doctor said Lucas would be okay.

Part two coming soon.
