Behind my back

This was a request by Sun-Fl0w3r_ for a reader/reader clone OC x 501st.

Gender-neutral reader or OC insert. Their name is not said, so it can be whatever :)

"What are you doing?"

I flinched before hiding my hands behind my back, batting my eyes innocently. "What are you talking about?"

Kix crossed his arms. "Show me."

"Show you what?" I stepped back, still holding my hands behind my back.

Kix lunged forward, reaching for my arms. I sidestepped quickly, letting out a shriek and sprinting away.

"Get back here!" Kix shouted, running after me.

I blew past Echo, who gave Kix a confused look. "What's happening?"

"They have something!" Kix yelled, making Echo gasp and chase after me too.

I ran as fast as I could, weaving between the soldiers making their way through the hallways. I made my way into the cantina, getting lost in the bustling crowds.

I found an empty seat and squeezed my way to it. I gave a nod to the clone on my left who frowned at me before turning back to his friend.

"What did you do this time?" Fives asked, slipping in on my right side.

"What?" I asked in mock outrage. "Why would you think I'd do something?"

"Kix and Echo are searching for you." Fives leaned against this hand, chin resting in his palm.

"You'll hide me, right?" I pleaded.

Fives grinned cheekily. "What will I get out of it?"

I scowled. "I'll distract Echo the next time you're sneaking out."

Five held out his hand. "You've got yourself a deal. Now follow me to the best hiding spot you'll ever cower in."

"Unbelievable," I muttered, shaking my head in disbelief.

"What?" Fives frowned. "Something wrong?"

"This is the hiding spot?" I demanded, letting out a huff.

"Yeah, they'll never find you here!" Fives excitedly said. "Just hide here for an hour or two until they give up!"

I was hiding under a bed.

I wish I was joking.

"This is the worst hiding spot ever!" I hissed, whacking Fives' leg with my hand.

"They won't find you! I promise!" Fives assured me. He shoved me further under the bed, stirring up dust.

We heard people talking, walking towards us. Fives motioned for me to stay quiet, then ran off. I muttered a curse under my breath before wiggling further under the bed, hoping no one would see me peeking out.

"Sir, I don't understand," Rex carefully said.

"I just need you to do it for a couple minutes! It won't take long, I promise!" Anakin begged.

"Sir, I'm unsure whether this is against protocol or not," Rex uncomfortably said. "What if we get caught? Would I be decommissioned?"

"Rex, it's fine. No one's going to know!"

Rex let out a heavy sigh. "Fine."

They shuffled away, still talking.

"Guess what I heard." I grinned as I plopped down next to the others in the cantina.

"What?" Tup excitedly asked.

"They said to guess!" Hardcase nudged Tup's arm with his own. "You can't just ask. It ruins the whole point."

"Fine, you guess then," Tup grumbled.

"Is it alcohol?" Hardcase guessed.

"We all know there's some hidden on here," Jesse chimed in. "I don't think that's what they'd be trying to get us to guess."

I rolled my eyes. "You're all terrible at this. I'll just tell you." I recounted the conversation I had overheard to them, leaving out the part where I was hidden under a bed.

"They're having an affair!" Dogma gasped, hands flying to his chest in shock.

"Don't be ridiculous!" I scolded, rolling my eyes. "They obviously killed someone and are trying to hide the evidence."

"Wait, how did they not see you anyway?" Tup questioned. "Wouldn't they have seen you?"

I coughed awkwardly. "I happened to be hiding at the time."

Hardcase cocked an eyebrow. "How come?"

"Because they had something and wouldn't show me. They ran too, so they're clearly hiding something terrible."

I felt the blood drain from my face and slowly turned to face Kix, who was standing behind me with his hands on his hips.

"Er- I have to go?" I tried to slip past him, but he grabbed my arm and dragged me away. I shot a frantic look to Fives as we walked past him, who just shrugged at me.

Damn you Fives.

"You have two options," Kix said once we entered an empty room. "You can either tell me what you hid from me, or I can... use less savoury methods to find out."

"You wouldn't!" I exclaimed in horror.

Kix narrowed his eyes. "Wouldn't I?"

I bowed my head in defeat. "Fine. You win. I'll finally tell you."

Kix gave a satisfied nod. "Thank you very much. I won't have to tell Ahsoka that it was you who lost her lightsaber after all then."

"Hey, she got a new one, didn't she?" I defensively said.

"Just tell me!" Kix tapped his foot impatiently.

I took a deep breath before spitting out, "I was writing. That was my notebook."

Kix frowned. "What? You write?"

"I'm not very good mind you, but it's just relaxing..." I self-consciously said. "It helps with my anxiety and while I'm not the greatest at it, it's still soothing."

Kix pursed his lips. "I'm sorry for assuming the worst, I just thought you had an explosive or something. The last time you hid something from me you nearly decapitated Echo."

I rocked back and forth on my heels. "It's alright."

Fives shouted my name, sprinting towards us. "You'll never believe what I just heard! Dogma told me Rex and Anakin and having an affair!"

I facepalmed. "Kix, don't listen to him. It's not true. They murdered someone instead."

Kix's mouth gaped open. "What?"

Rex, who was walking by, looked at us in confusion. "Did you say my name?"

"We're talking about your affair with General Skywalker," Kix told him, face screwed up in confusion. "Or how you murdered someone."

Rex choked on his own saliva, coughing wildly. "Pardon?"

I told him everything I had heard, watching as he slowly rubbed at his temples, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"He wanted me to help him change the order for or food supplies to the flavoured rations he likes!" Rex buried his face in his hands, exasperated.

"So... I should stop telling people that whenever you're running over plans with him, you're actually..." Fives trailed off, sticking one finger into a circle the other hand made.

"Is that why people starting hollering and high-fiving me when I went off to a meeting?" Rex cried out.

"I'm totally writing about this," I mumbled, mind filling with ideas.

I hope this lived up to your expectations!
