~ Avni ~

    My birthday couldn't get better than this.  It was the best birthday I ever celebrated thanks to my Neil.  Neil took me to an adventure camp in the morning and we spent the whole day there.  We had a lot of fun there.  I have never enjoyed this much before.  Truly Neil knows me better than myself.  He did everything to make my birthday special.

" special coffee for the birthday girl " Neil said and bowed in front of me. I giggled at his antics and took the mug from his hand.

" thank you " I straightened my back and sat properly. Neil smiled in response and settled himself beside me.

It's night time and we are sitting in the balcony of our home. We had our dinner in a restaurant and came back to our home sweet home just before half an hour.

~ Neil ~

I and Avni were sitting peacefully in the balcony. Avni's gaze was fixed on the stars and she was still holding the empty mug in her hands. I grabbed her mug and put it on the side table. She came out of her thoughts and looked at me.

" you know you can share anything with me " I said after taking her hands on mine.

She sighed and stared down on our hands. " nothing just the birthdays I have celebrated with my parents " she smiled sadly. I squeezed her hands gently to let her know that I was listening. " I miss them a little more on my birthday "

I know that and I tried my best to make her birthday special so that she does not miss her parents but no one can take the place of our parents.  I am an orphan.  I don't know what it's like to have parents in our lives, but still I wish I could have.

I didn't said anything. Sometimes people just need someone to listen to them. They don't want your sympathy or anything. They just want to share what they are feeling. They want to let go the heaviness of their heart.

She pulled her hands out of my grip and wrapped them around my torso tightly. " I wish they were here with me " she whispered against my chest. I rubbed her back gently to comfort her.

After a few moments when she was back to normal condition I held her face on my palms and made her to look in my eyes. " your parents are not physically present with you but that doesn't mean they are not with you. They are watching you from  the sky and giving you all the blessings and love " I wiped the tears from her eyes and kissed on her forehead.

She nodded her head and leaned on my chest. My hands automatically moved towards her silky smooth hair and started playing with them.

We stayed in each other's embrace without exchanging any words. Avni is the only person with whom I can spend hours without talking anything.

" how many days off you have ? " she asked breaking the silence.

" only for today , princess. I asked for 2 days but got only one " I sighed. I had planned a trip of 2 days for us but I had no luck. We had to come back today .

" noo....you are not going anywhere tomorrow " she pouted and pleaded me with her puppy eyes.

She is so adorable. It's almost impossible to say no to this cute puppy face.

" I wish I could, my princess but I can't " her face falls  in despair. I don't like her dull face. I cupped her face on my hands " I promise I'll take you on a long vacation after your final exam.  Okay ? " she thought for a few seconds, then smiled brightly, making my heart flutter like a butterfly. Her smile is everything.

    My thumbs were caressing her cheeks and my gaze were fixed on her soft baby lips. In no time our lips were moving together in a perfect sync in slow motion. I didn't want to stop, but I had to before things get out of control. We spent some more time in the balcony before going to bed and ending a beautiful day.

" ok fine, I'll give you a treat today  " Ali and Kajal were eating my head from  an hour for birthday treat so I had to agree.

" yeahhh " they both shouted excitedly and hi-fi with each other.

" wait, let me ask Neil, if he is free then we will go all together " It sounds difficult though. He is always busy with his duty. ( sighed)

" ok, call him and ask " I nodded and called Neil.

After few rings he answered. " hello "

" hi Neil, are you free in the evening " I asked hopefully.

" no Avni, I have an important meeting in the evening but what happened " I sighed. As always.

" I'm giving Ali and Kajal a treat so thought to ask you if you can join us"

" umm...  sorry baby, I can't join you but you go and enjoy with your friends "

" yeah, ok then bye "

" bye and take care " I smiled and hung up the call.

" Neil is not coming, he have an important meeting " I informed Ali and kajal.

" don't worry babe we won't let you miss your Jaanu today " kajal teased and winked at me. I rolled my eyes and looked away to hide my blush.

Ali and Kajal are my best friends and I share everything with them so they know my feelings for Neil. Sometimes I regret why I told them that I love Neil because they never leave a single chance to tease me.

~ Neil ~

" all clear " I asked moving my eyes from left  to right side, watching all the police officers standing in front of me.

" yes sir "  everyone replied in unison.

" good. Be careful and keep an eye on their every move. I don't want any kind of mistake. We have to catch them this time " we got information that the boss of the drug sellers we are searching for is coming to a pub for a deal and I don't want to miss this opportunity to catch him.

" yes sir "

" ok so now let's move "
