ONCE THEY WERE gone, Doug turned to the group with a smile. "Hi, guys," he started. "I'm Doug, Dopey's son. Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy and..." He trailed off as his eyes landed on Evie, his mouth falling a gap and his hands gripping the edge of his clipboard tighter to his chest. Evie took notice and sauntered over to him, twirling her hair innocently. "Heigh Ho."
"Evie," she introduced, her voice as smooth as silk. "Evil Queen's daughter."
"Okay," he drawled out, blinking out of his trance as turned his attention to the papers nailed to the clipboard. Trying to keep a professional manor, he read. "So, about your requirements already." Mal marched over, obtaining sudden interest as she stood behind Doug and peered over his shoulder. "History of Woodsmen Pirates, Safety Rules for the Internet, and Remedial Goodness 101." He squeaked when he noticed Mal standing close beside him.
Mal scoffed, raising an unimpressed eyebrow at Doug after hearing the last class. "Let me guess, new class?" She asked, receiving a silent whimper in reply.
"C'mon Mal, no need to be offended." Oliver started, rolling up his sleeves, smirking slightly at the fear that clouded Doug's eyes at the movement. "Nothing eases the superiority mindset of the higher class better than teaching savages their ways of the world, right Doug?"
Issa let out a small chuckle, looping her arms around Carlos's as the white haired boy held back a snicker as he pressed his face into her shoulder.
"Come on, guys," Mal spoke, tossing a candy wrapper over her shoulder. "Let's go find our dorms." As the VKs followed after the purple haired girl up the staircase closest to them, Doug let out a small cry.
"Uh, your dorms are that way, guys." He informed, pointing to the staircase opposite of him. The Vks pulled to halt, looking from Doug to the other staircase, masking their embarrassment with eye rolls and snorts as they followed his directions to the other staircase. Because the dorms were separated by gender, Carlos, Jay, and Oliver split and went one way, while the girls went the other. The mandatory residents for the dorms were two minimum, so Issa was left bunking in her dorm, much to her pleasure of freedom because there was only so much amount of time in her life that she could deal with Mal before she exploded.
When Issa first stepped into the room, she flinched at the bright lights streaming through the open window of the room before her eyes were nearly blinded by the assortments of pink, and beige, that decorated the bedding and wallpaper near the headboard. The room was designed perfectly for a princess, but was definitely not her style. The second thing Issa noticed was the figure sitting on her bed, a man with long, floppy hair that grazed his forehead and a sharp jawline. His light brown eyes met hers and a wide smile broke out on his face as he shot up from his sitting position, practically towering over Issa with his 6' foot frame.
"You're here!" He cried out, mirth pooling in his eyes as he raised his arms, not at all caring about the material of his lesther jacket stretching in the process. "I-I can't believe you're finally here. I mean, I knew it was going to happen, but I wasn't sure if you were actually going to be here. But look, here you are."
Issa stared at him, her hands clutching her mother's spellbook closely as she was completely startled by the man's appearances and enjoyment of her being here. "Who are you? And what are you doing in my dorm?"
The man's smile diminished slightly as if her response had crushed his soul, before realization flooded his eyes. "I'm sorry, I tend to dive into things without explanation. Uh, man I at least thought this would go differently but..." He mumbled to himself. "Okay, Issa...it's me, Robert. I'm your brother."
Issa held back a her true astonishment as she looked Robert up and down, suddenly remembering who he was. His tan skin, and, charming smile were all the characteristics that fit the posters and news broadcast back on the Isle. Her mind tracked back to the stories she had heard-never from her mother, who you would think would hold some vengeance towards him as he was the reason she was put on the Isle-and reflected on their similarities:brown eyes, sharp jawline, bushy eyebrows, brown hair that couldn't decide whether it wanted to be jet black or sun kissed red.
With a cough, she looked him up and down. "Uh, Robert, yeah...hey."
"Wow," he whispered still staring at her, not taking notice of her tense expression. "You look just like her...its almost as if-" he cut himself off, rubbing his palms together. "Sorry, again. You must be tired from the trip?"
"Not really, but I was hoping to just see my dorm. Still surprised why you're here though."
Robert chuckled softly, scratching his neck. "Well this is the first time I am seeing my sister outside of just a picture." He said, still appearing starstruck. "You've grown so much, it's still mind blowing. How-how old are you?"
"Fifteen-"
"Turning sixteen in March?" Robert finished, wearing a hopeful expression.
"Uhm, yeah. How'd you...know?"
He wore a sheepish smile, his cheeks turning a shade of dusty rose. "Well, after you were born I had a guard deliver a plush bear for you. Like as simple birthday/welcome to the world present from your brother."
"Yeah, at least I got something besides the cheap, moldly build on the Isle." Issa commented, masking her feelings as she thought back to the stuffed bear that she had had ever since she was baby. She always thought that it was a gift from her mother, never bothering to question its finely made material. She had never suspected that it had came...from him.
"Uh, hey, you know what? I'm actually feeling really tired and would really like to lay down now." She lied, pulling away from him.
Robert, thankfully, pulled back. Though he looked slightly hurt he hid it behind an understanding smile. "Right, right. I'll leave you to get settled, considering you have classes tomorrow. But oh, you should know, your niece also goes here, my daughter. If you ever need someone to show you around just find her."
"I will." Issa grimaced, waving him away as she pushed him out of her dorm, closing the door in behind him. When she was alone she let out a frustrated sigh. "Boy what a day."
