maybe that's it. we eventually go numb; because you can't break a heart that's already broken
"LET me see the baby," Hershel spoke up seeing as nobody would be able to get through to Rick. Afterall, he just lost his wife.
Maggie handed the baby to Carl who walked over to Hershelx so that he could get a look at her.
"What are we gonna feed it?" Daryl questioned as they walked towards Hershel. "We got anything a baby can eat?"
"The good news is she looks healthy. But she needs formula. And soon, or she won't survive," Hershel informed us and Octavia shook her head, determined.
"No. No way. Not her. We won't lose nobody else," Octavia stated routhly, continuing to shake her head.
"I'm going for a run," Daryl spoke up which made her stand up straighter and walk towards him.
"I'll back you up," she told him and he nodded his head hesitantly.
"I'll go too," Maggie spoke up.
"Okay, think where we're going." Daryl then turned to Beth. "Beth." He then took her a few feet away from Carl and whispered to her "You two get the fence. Too many pile up, we got ourselves a problem. Octavia, Maggie, vámonos." He threw out orders, and his eyes landed on Octavia's.
"Rick!" Shecyelled out as she saw him grab his axe off the ground, and run into the prison.
"Get the gate. Come on, we're gonna lose the light!" Daryl yelled out as he rushed off with O by his side.
"There's a Piggly Wiggly on 85," Maggie spoke up as she caught up to the duo.
"No, the baby section's been cleared. Lori asked me to keep an eye out. I haven't had much luck," Octavia told them, running her hands through her greasy and blood covered hair.
"Is there any place that hasn't been completely looted?" Daryl asked, swinging his crossbow off of his shoulders.
"We saw signs for a shopping center just north of here," Maggie spoke up but O shook her head, knowing what she was talking about.
"Yeah, but there's too much debris on the road. A car will never get through there," she xplained and then looked at Daryl. "You will only be able to take one of us." She turned to face Maggie before the girl could speak up. "I promised Lori that I would look out for that baby if anything happened to her. I'm gonna keep up on that promise.
Maggie nodded her head slowly. "Be careful." She gave get a hug and then walked away towards Glenn and the others.
Octavia looked down at the ground for a second, frowning to herself before she looked back up and joined Daryl. He was already on the bike so all age had to do was swing her leg over, and wrap her arms around him.
"Ready?" He asked. turning his head slightly back to look at her, and she narrowed her eyes in a playful way.
"When am I never ready?"
He chuckled and started the bike and they were off, Oscar closing the gate behind them.
Her black hair flew around, hitting her in the face. She shook her head, letting the wind fly through her dark locks.
Moments like this, she felt completely free, almost as if she were a bird. And if that was true, then she would be a raven because of her hair. She sometimes wish that she was a bird because they get to fly wherever they want, land wherever they want. They can travel around the world for free and not have to worry about much danger, unlike what humans have to do.
Before the zombie apocalypse came to be, her brothers and her had to fight monsters. They were much worse than walkers because walkers can't think, they just run off instinct which is kill any living thing that has meat on it's bones. Monsters? They have hearts, souls, a brain. They choose whether they want to do something or not.
Of course, not all monsters do monstrous things. And Octavia learned that from a friend that she had in a town called Beacon Hills. Her name was Lydia Martin.
And thinking about her made Octavia wonder if her and her supernatural friends were alive. And yes, she said supernatural friends. They are - or were - the good kind. Scott, Isaac, Derek, Erica, Boyd and Peter were a Type B werewolf. Type B werewolves can transform whenever they want. And they don't turn into full wolves either, they grow canines, claws, facial hair, big pointy ears and their eyes glow. Gold for new beta's who hasn't killed yet, blue for killing an innocent, and red for an alpha.
Allison was a werewolf hunter, along with her father. Lydia was a banshee, a person who predicts death and can scream really loudly. Stiles was the only human who used sarcasm for defense and a baseball bat. To be honest, him and Lydia were her favorites from the pack.
When she had last seen them, they were fighting off something called a Kanima. She wanted to help but she had to go back home to Sam and Dean because something really important was happening. Bobby was killed and Dean disappeared out of thin air after he killed Dick, a leviathan.
She was more heartbroken, because even though Sam and her are twins -- fraternal since she taked more after John -- she took after Dean a lot. She looked up to him like any little sister would.
Well anyway, going back to Lydia and the others, she hadn't spoken to them in forever. After about a year of not talking to them, the apocaplyse started. It wasn't much of a surprise to them because, well, they had already started an apocaplyse before.
She thought that if they could handle one apocaplyse, then they could handle this one. But, this one was worse because this time, there wasn't many humans to save now. That doesn't matter because since there were still humans to save, she keeps fighting because that's what hunters do, they save people. It's the family business.
Daryl stopped the motorcycle and turned it off, and she jumped off of it with a frown. Her thoughts were making me sad and that's a terrible thing because thoughts distract you from what's right in front of you.
"Company's close. Stay tight " Daryl warned, stepping by her side as he grabbed his crossbow.
She pulled open the gate and let Daryl go through first. She brought out one of her daggers just incase anything was gonna pop out at them.
They walked through a small playground before she got to a window that led to a small room. She looked through it but could barely see through it will all the dust and dirt, so she smashed it opened with a rock that she picked up. She used her leather jacket covered arm to knock the access glass off of the window before jumping through, landing perfectly on her company covered feet.
She looked around and noticed that it was a baby's room which made her frown. She wondered how many baby's had lost their lives to this cruel world?
She swung the backpack that she had on her shoulders, off and started going through the cabinets for anything that Rick's baby would need.
Her eyes were getting a little wet upon just thinking about baby's dying.
When she heard Daryl come in through the window, she wiped a few stray tears away and straightened her face.
You can't show weakness. It's a bad thing to do especially in this type of world. You never know who's a friend or foe.
Octavia followed Daryl when he walked out into the hall. He turned on a flashlight since the hallway was dark. She turned her flashlight on too and walked the opposite way from him. They had to split up if they wanted to get back to the prison quicker.
There was a noise coming from the small kitchen that was in the building so we met each other half way, and he slowly pushed the door open.
In a quick flash, he was pulled into the room, flipped over, and landed on his back with a gun pointed at him. Someone came up behind Octavia and wrapped their arm around her neck, a knife grazing her neck.
She sucked in a breath and her wide eyes landed on Daryl's position.
The man who held a gun at Daryl, looked up, and his eyes met Octavia's, and his crystal blue eyes widened in complete shock and awe. And so did Octavia's.
"Chris?" Her voice rasped out. She was still so emotional after what happened today.
"Octavia?" As soon as the name fell from his lip, the grip on her throat loosened, and she was turned around, greeted by Allison.
Allison looked pretty much like she did before the apocalypse, but her hair was no longer below her breasts. Her dark hair was now above her shoulder's, and her eyes were much darker than she remembered. There was a scar that went across her right eyebrow, and she had a bandaged wrapped around her left thigh. There was fresh blood on her which meant whatever happened, didn't happen too long ago.
Another person stepped out of the shadows and Octavia smirked at the sight of him. "Derek Hale. Who would've thought you would survive with the Argent's."
Derek approached the Winchester with a smile before he pulled her into a hug.
Daryl, still from his position on the floor, got up quickly, and watched the reunion with narrowed eyes.
"What are you doing here?" Chris Argent asked as he approached his favorite Winchester, and pulled her into a hug. After he hugged her, Allison was next.
Octavia sighed as she remembered why her and Daryl were in this predicament. "We lost some people today and one of them had a baby."
Allison's eyes widened. "Oh, no..."
Octavia nodded before turning to them. "Where are the others?"
Chris sighed. "We got separated a few months back. We've been trying to find them since, but no luck."
Octavia sadly nodded before gesturing to Daryl. "We have to get back soon. We only have a motorcycle. Do you guys have a car? You can come with us."
"We'll need to hotwire one," Allison stated, nodding. "But, yeah. We'll follow you."
IT was a few hours later, and they arrived back at the prison when it was dark.
All the way here, Octavia thought about the McCall pack even more seeing as the Argents and Derek were currently following behind them
Octavia was quick to get off the motorcycle, make sure Chris, Allison, and Derek were behind her before rushing into the prison.
"Carl!" She called out as soon as she walked into their cell block, finding him holding the baby.
"How's she doing?" Daryl asked worriedly as he rushed to Carl's side to check on the baby.
Allison and Octavia rushed to a table and dumped all the baby stuff onto it. After finding out about what was happening, Allison was quick to help find anything for the baby.
They quickly put the formula into a bottle, and Octavia made her way to Daryl who held the baby. She gave him the bottle, watching as he fed the baby. She smiled at the two of them, a feeling arising in her as she saw the way he handled her. He would be a good dad if he ever had a child.
Daryl looked up from the baby and looked at her, a smile on his face, showing dimples. She has seem him smile about a couple times since the first time she met him, but this time, there was something different about it. She's not quite sure why it was different, but it was.
"Who are they?" Glenn asked, pointing to the Argents and Derek who were on either side of Octavia. Since they found each other, they weren't gonna leave her side.
Octavia sighed and glanced back at the three pack members. "These are my friends from before," she stated. "I trust them with my life."
Maggie walked up to them, smiling. "If you trust them, then we know they're good people." She nodded at the three new members. "Welcome."
"She got a name yet?" Daryl asked Carl, making everyone turn away from the new members.
Octavia walked up to the boy, and wrapped an arm around him, showing him that he had someone there for him, that understood him.
Chris, Allison, and Derek looked at her, and realized that she cared for them. She would do anything for them, and that was when they saw that she basically had her own pack.
"Not yet. But I was thinking maybe Sophia. "Then there's Carol, too." Octavia frowned. "And--" He sighed, leaning back into O. "Andrea, Amy, Jacqui, Patricia or'-" He paused for a few seconds as he looked down in sadness. "Lori. I don't know."
"Yeah--" Daryl sighed. "You like that?" He looked down at the baby. "Huh?" He paused. "Little ass-kicker." A smile grew to his face. "Right?" He turned to the group, mischief twinkling in his eyes. "That's a good name, right? Little ass-kicker. You like that, sweetheart?" He asked her in a soft voice.
Octavia smiled. This was her family.
