If only tears had colour,
her pillow would have been the canvas of her emotions. ”

"I'll be back around seven." I informed Asher who was lounged on the couch. He looked deep in thoughts with his eyebrows marred together as he stared at the ceiling.

He turned his head slightly towards the entrance where I was standing. His face remained blank as his eyes raked over my body shamelessly. I had changed into a pair of black jeans and a yellow peasant top accompanied with a pair of black sneakers my hair fell loosely over my shoulders, I didn't even care to brush them properly. I tried not to squirm under his gaze and stood still. His eyes finally met mine again. He stared at me a little longer before looking back at the ceiling.

Ugh. What was his problem!?

Why can't he behave like a normal person?

Without another word I turned around and walked out of the house slamming the door shut behind me.

I removed the ring from my finger and immediately frowned, my hand felt weightless and I didn't like that at all. I wanted to slip the ring back but I couldn't. I didn't want people at the cafe to question me, for them and for everyone else I still had the single forever tag on me.

One more thing that hit me was I had to walk all the way to the cafe. I didn't have my bicycle with me. I couldn't give Asher a chance to question me about why I was using a bicycle.

Sighing I shoved my hands deep in my pockets and started walking to my destination.

After almost an hour I could see the sweet little place. I sighed and looked down at my wrist watch, I was twenty minutes late. I've never been late for work before.

Another first to my list.

The bell chimed as I opened to door and a smile instantly made its way up to my face.

"Well, look who's finally here." came Alina's smug reply. It was always the other way. Those were always my words to her when she came late. Everyday.

I rolled my eyes and shot a hello her way before heading towards the bill counter.

"How come you are late today?" she frowned slightly her eyes curiously looking at me.

"I was working on a project and dosed off somewhere in the middle, sorry." I lied smoothly not meeting her eyes.

The last thing I wanted was her to know that I have a husband who was making my life a living hell with his snarky comments and stupid actions.

$92

That was what I earned at the end of an hour. I couldn't stop myself from grinning. My cheeks were hurting. I just wanted to climb up the counter dance and yell my heart out. Okay, I admit. That's too much.

I was happy that atleast something was in my favour.

The cafe was crowded today. The place was filled with the smell of brewed coffee, sweet bread and chatters of people. The atmosphere was joyous.

My heart felt light after whole two days.

As the customers moved in and out of the cafe. I started to forget about him. As the chairs screeched against floor his  words started to blur in my mind

Everybody looked so happy. I don't think that there's a person who is not struggling, not sad or worried about something but taking time out to enjoy and be happy through all the chaos is amazing and so admirable. My jar was filling up quickly. My smile never left my face.

I handed the change to my last customer. My shift was going to end soon.

"Come back soon!" I hollered as she strolled towards the door.

I had enough money to buy some groceries. I was planning to cook something for Asher since he hadn't eaten anything. Everytime I asked if he would like eat something.

'No' was his curt reply.

Spaghetti and meatballs sounds good.

I grinned at the thought.

Asher was a tough nut that I had to crack anyhow.

He was dangerous, not just for others but for himself too.

The deep wound on his hip was not something normal, he was trying to hide it but couldn't.

I didn't realise I was frowning.
Shaking my head at all these thoughts, I turned my lips upside down into a smile again.

The bell chimed, I looked up to greet the new customer but stopped as soon as I saw who it was. My smile dropped and I somehow paled.

No no no.

I heard someone gasp beside me and saw Alina staring at Thomas with wide eyes, her hands covering her mouth as she stood beside me frozen. My hands were getting sweaty and I fidgeted in my spot.

"Oh my God...Thomas what happened to you? Who did this!? "

At that very moment I just wanted to sink low in my place. But I stood their and saw his already stern expression harden a bit more. There was a cut on his lips. It was still raw. I noticed that he wasn't able to stand straight. All because of me.

But I had no regrets.

He fucking deserved it.

"Uh, nothing just some drunk bitch mugged out of nowhere."

I was completely shocked to hear those words from him. In my head, I was simply rolling my eyes at him. He deserved every bit of it for taking advantage of me while I wasn't in my senses.

My jaw clenched as I glared at him at that very moment he turned his head towards me. My face remained the same as I leaned my side on the counter looking at him.

"Oh, hey Sophie. " he tried acting surprised, like he didn't see me before.

I didn't say anything.

"How was your weekend? I guess it was great you look chirpy today. " he raised an eyebrow at me. The coldness of eyes and how tense his body was didn't go unnoticed. From the way he was talking to me I could tell he was trying hard not to yell or do  something insane.

I swallowed hard and forced a big smile on my face just for Alina's sake. I didn't wanted  to create a scene here.

"It was great Tommy!" I suddenly blurted out.

Something changed. The scowl on his face disappeared. His eyes were a little wide and his face soft. His Hazel eyes weren't cold anymore. He looked like the Thomas I knew.

He nodded before grumbling something under his breath. He walked off to his cabin.

Lost another friend I sighed at the thought. But I don't want to see him again.

Huffing I collected my money from the jar and filled my pockets with it.

I feel rich.

And stupid.

I could make good use of this money, I thought while making my way out of the cafe.

The night sky had fallen. It reminded me of Asher. Limitless, dark and blank.

I stopped at Target to get some groceries. After paying for the stuff I bought I straight away headed home.

Home?

I really did call that place my home.

What's wrong with me?

.

.

.

"Hey," I awkwardly waved at him as soon as I entered. He was still on that damn couch. His shoulders slouched and his eyes droopy.

"Hey," I tried again when I didn't get any reply, he was half asleep I realised.

I rounded the couch and stood in front of him. "I'm going to make something for you, you should go and sleep I'll wake you up when the dinner will be ready." I placed the bag of groceries on the table and mashed my lips together.

No response.

"What is wrong with you?" I frowned looking at his looming figure, I bent forward and narrowed my eyes at him. His nose was red and his eyes bloodshot. He was sniffing. He wasn't crying for sure.

I placed my hands flat on his forehead making sure not to show how much touching him affected me. His body temperature seemed normal

"Stop finding ways of touching me and get lost, Callister."

I ignored his comment and narrowed my eyes suspiciously at him.

"You are acting weird."

"I am weird so get over with it." he almost slurred.

"Are you drunk?" I asked leaning in more trying to smell the alcohol but couldn't.

"Quit, Callister. " he grunted.

"What were you upto before?" I stood straight and placed my hands on my hips looking down at him.

"You know what I want to do right now."

I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Rip your jeans apart and then eat you for dinner." he stated sternly his voice held determination which made a gasp escape my lips.

Stepping back I looked down at my jeans, my stomach clenched at his words.

"Pig! " I snarled shaking my head in disbelief.

He let out a breathy chuckle and stood up but stumbled forward and landed on me. Letting out a squeal of surprise I tried my best to support his weight. God he was heavy!

"Asher, are you okay?" concern etched in my voice . I gripped his taut biceps.

"Yes," his hands crept around my waist, my breath hitched as he pulled me against him.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing."

"Okay, leave me I'll cook something quick." I chuckled trying to lessen the tension between us.

Sexual tension.

His hands tighten around my waist. "What if I say I want to eat you?"

I laughed "don't be ridiculous, now move" I squeezed his forearm.

Everything I was doing or saying was just making the situation more and more awkward.

"You are my wife last night I let you go but not today" leaning in he placed his forehead against my shoulder, softly.

"Don't go all you- are - my - wife on me if you don't treat me like one." I immediately shot feeling sudden anger rise inside me.

He just grunted in reply, his grip tightening around me.

This was not going to end on good terms. I just knew it.

I had to get rid of him soon.

"Why don't you get a simple thing- that you can't touch me against my will, move now."

"Why not!" I was startled when he roughly pushed back on the recliner. I gasped as my head hit the soft leather under me. He wasted no time and climbed on top of me. It all happened so fast that I didn't even had time to blink. My jaw was hanging open as I stared at him with wide eyes for a second before my senses kicked in.

"You bastard move!" I yelled hitting  his chest.

Asher didn't budge.

"ASHER MOVE!" He buried his face in my neck and his hips rolled against mine.

"I'll have you today. " he whispered close to my ear. I shivered uncontrollably.

He moved again.
My eyes widen at his actions.

"What are you doing?" the first thing that came in my mind was Thomas.

He did the same to me. I was able to save myself from Thomas. But what about Asher? I couldn't even move under him. His body had pinned me down.

"No please-- please no!! " I blurted out as he moved again, shaking my head violently.

"Shut up." came his gruff reply.

"I don't want to do this please, Asher." I squirmed under him. He only stilled at my words but stayed right above me.

"You are drunk." I stated.

"Please don't do this." his hands crept up my shirt and roamed near my breast. I panted heavily, my heart was in my mouth. His rough skin left behind sensations everywhere he touched.

The tip of his fingers skimmed the bottom of my breast and I cried out in protest "We can talk it out."
I let out through gritted teeth.

Oh god no. Tears formed in my eyes as his grip tightened around me.

His hands roughly reached down and unbuttoned my jeans I yelped with wide eyes and squirmed violently under him and the next word that tumbled down if mouth even if I tried my best to stop it froze both of us.

"I feel sorry for Scarlett because you are her son, her coward son who's trying to take a woman down against her will, raping her in other words. You want to die?" I looked up at him through blurry vision "then die! I don't care. I'm going to live here as long as Scarlett wants me to."
I spat

Asher was brooding. He had propped himself on his elbows and was now staring down at me.

First day of my marriage and I was under him, his body attached to mine in the worst way.

Our breath mingled in the worst way.

Our bodies were moulded in the worst way even if my body was reacting to his and his to mine.

"--You don't tell me what am I or what am I doing. When you are the one fucking a delivery boy!" His voice dragged me out of my thoughts. I frowned and wiped my tears sniffing.

"delivery boy?" my frown deepened

"Yes, West Shelton your twenty three year- old boyfriend. " he spat. My eyes widen.

Funny. He knew more about my so called boyfriend than I knew.

"I didn't I -- "

"Don't give me that Shit. Tell me where you were from the last two hours? " he half yelled pressing his body more against mine.

"I-um ..." I couldn't tell him that I work at a cafe. I couldn't get anything out of my mouth. He terrorized me, I couldn't even find a good excuse.

"Of course, he was inside you!" I flinched as he yelled in my face,
I burst out into tears at his words. My shoulders started to shake slightly.

Inside me? he thought of me that low.

"You can't say that, you can't just accuse me for anything!" my lips trembled and I almost choked.

"Didn't I tell you that marrying me is not a good idea, didn't I?" he questioned glaring down at me.

"You also did tell me that once I step out of this house I'm nothing to you then why do you care!?" I fisted his shirt in my hands and pushed him back. I was frustrated and worn out I didn't want to fight him bit he didn't leave me any other option.

"I do not care about you, the only thing I care about is my reputation, stop dreaming Callister." he yanked my hands away from his shirt and stood up.
I gasped for air, I was able to breath again as his heavy stone built body left mine.

I tilted my head a little to see him climbing up the stairs through my blurry vision a sob escaped my lips, I swear he froze.

I closed my eyes letting the tears out and sighed.

He was gone when I opened my eyes again.

I rubbed my face and brought my legs to my chest.

I was showing signs of weakness.

Vulnerability.

Tears.

Loneliness.

I looked down at myself, my top was pushed up to my chest and my jeans unbuttoned. I sobbed panting and pulled my top down. I rubbed my neck with shaking hands where his head was buried a few minutes ago. My breathing was uneven. I was scared shitless.

My husband tried to rape me.

He harresed me twice in less than 48 hours.

"Oh God..." I buried my face in my hands sobbing loudly.

He did this all just because he thought that I was with West. I didn't even know that guy. My eyes caught something on my hand. I pulled the sleeve off my hands. My chest clenched as I saw the crimson marks of his fingers on my wrist, there were faint marks on my forearm too.

I had no idea.

What should I do now?

Should I leave him?

No. A Big no.

Should I report it to police?

I can't do that it would break Scarlett.

Arrgh!

These thoughts were making me weaker.

The hell! I was not weak. I couldn't afford to be weak.

My phone buzzed in my pocket
I quickly took it out.

Wiping my tears I looked at the screen.

-the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.
Scarlett.

I stared at the text for a whole minute. She wanted me to cook for his Son. Well I was going to before he forced himself upon me.
And why not!

Add some rat poison to the food and then his heart's gone.

There's two sides to every story afterall.

My lips were turning up in a small smile at the thought, just then my phone rang and Scarlett's name flashed on the screen.
