Chapter 23
Over the next week, I mainly worked with Voltanuc in the bunker to try and see if we could remove the Darkness' grip from her but turns out it that it had a rather firm grip on her, and what I meant by that is that was inside her heart and brain hiding and controlling. It seemed to be very primitive in nature and would basically latch onto the nearest host if it was exposed to danger, and that was definitely exploitable.
So I set out and found a skilled neurosurgeon and a cardiac surgeon who I kidnapped and had them consult on the parasite in Altair's brain and heart. They both reported the same thing, that the parasite was too deeply embedded into the heart and brain, and that they couldn't do it without causing major damage to the girl.
I asked them what kind of damage and they said that Altair would most likely have to have a heart transplant or even run on an artificial one while waiting for a transplant, that was ok, but the brain was much more complicated, there was a high chance she would fall into a deep coma that she most likely wouldn't recover from.
I could definitely go through with the heart but the brain was something I absolutely couldn't do, Altair was a good vessel for the Emperess, and if I couldn't find a new one, then we would be in trouble and the Darkness would just recapture a very valuable asset. So now I was absolutely stuck, and so I went out for an entire day in search of a new vessel. I scoured the entirety of Kalos, and Alola in search of one, and the only one I found was Lillie, who wasn't compatible with the current Empress that I was trying to deal with but with another that we hadn't encountered.
I had pretty much exhausted myself and I slept through a good deal of the next day before setting out to search Unova for the rest of that day, still finding no one who could be compatible. This was getting tiresome but unless I found a way to remove the darkness from her head, then I'll just have to keep looking.
I took a day's rest to obviously take a break but to also see if I could force the darkness out, that ended in a horrible mess of creaming from Altair and the darkness surfacing a little. It seemed that it was possible but I didn't know if it would cause her brain damage even after removing but the darkness wouldn't just wait so I kidnapped a random homeless person the next day under the guise of giving him money if he helped me with something.
Then I began after putting him in a trance, doing the same thing I had done the day before, slowing coercing it out until I felt resistance before putting much more force into it before it was forced to surface for a brief moment. I grabbed the man's hand and touched the darkness with it before pulling him away when I saw it transfer and rushing outside before throwing him far out to the ocean.
After that, I went back to check on Altair who In realized wasn't out of the woods yet as now the darkness implanted in her heart was a ticking time bomb. I quickly called the heart surgeon and told her the brain issue had resolved and she was clear for the surgery and that money wasn't a problem either. So I rushed her to the hospital where they operated and once the darkness exposed itself I held it in aura just long enough for them to implant an artificial heart. Then I infected one of the random nurses before just leaving her alone because now I had the pressing matter of how Altair would fair on my mind.
I took her back the bunker as soon as she was stable and then monitored her for a couple of hours before heading off to sleep.
When I awoke the next morning, she wasn't awake yet but that didn't worry me as the doctor had said that she most likely wouldn't wake for 1-3 days. So after making myself breakfast and confirming she was fine, I went to meet Looker at a motel in the area.
"So have you confirmed the locations of any legendary/mythical pokemon?" I asked as soon as I walked in
"Well Genesect is easy because Blake has it on hand, Groudon is still missing, Kyorgre is still petrified at the bottom of the seafloor cavern, and the blue orb is safe with us. Thanks to Ash Ketchum and the royal family of Rota, we know Mew is still at the tree of life. Celebi is most likely in the time stream somewhere, and Latios and Latias are still somewhere in Altomare. That's all the info we have currently" Looker reported
"I see, I have a feeling that A.R.C captured Groudon somehow. As for Mew, Latios, and Latias, they are most likely already under control, while Celebi presents an interesting unknown due to its ability to travel through time, it could've escaped the influence but that is also unlikely."
"Was there another reason you called us here? If not then we can't be absent from our jobs for very long." Blake asked
"Yes, it is to say that Altair should be joining us soon and for you to submit Genesect to me for inspection. In the meanwhile, you guys maintain your jobs and lives until I contact you again."
After that, Blake reluctantly handed over Genesect's ultra ball and I left right after to go to the forest where I could summon Genesect to check on him without risking a lot of casualties.
Along the way it started raining, the rain didn't faze me much because of my aura so I quickly landed in a clearing and sat down. Yep, I constructed an entire shack out of aura and just sat there, taking in the nice smell of the rain and listening to the sound of it.
I could hear the various pokemon that were in the forest scrambling to shelter or the water types coming out to bask in it with the grass types while the fire types hid. I sat there relaxed for some time, just listening and perceiving before I got up and deployed Genesect.
It came out and immediately became somewhat hostile looking at me with distaste, so I reassured it with my aura before scanning it and surprisingly finding very little traces of the darkness that was pretty much harmless.
Then I realized Genesect was revived from a fossil so it was possible that it was killed and so the darkness didn't see any point in leaving shards of its power in the dying body of a pokemon. If that was true then there should be more Genesect fossils around the world, now that would be a great army.
After conversing with Genesect about the Great War I found out that the Darkness had first appeared in the Hall of Origin, intending to take over Arceus first. The Genesect Guard who were there at the time handled the initial response and alerted the other legendaries who came rushing over. Genesect also confirmed that the main body of the Darkness resided in Arceus at the Hall of Origin currently, in addition to that, it told me that Mewtwo who Blake was tracking, most likely wasn't infected since it was manmade.
I thanked it for the info before returning it to its ultra ball and thinking over the info, before dialing Blake to find out more about Mewtwo.
Sorry for the cliff hanger but I think it was a good time to end it, hope this finds you all well and let's pray this entire thing is over soon. Ja ne!
