Chapter 17
"Target in sight, moving to a better location for assassination."
"Good, once you are ready, do it."
I carefully took aim at the target, adjusting my scope slightly, before firing once and upon him dropping dead, I dismantled my gun and took off.
"Good job, now head back to base. We are going to have to wait a while to do anyone else, Stone and Wallace are dead. The rest of the champions will be on guard, take care not to get spotted on the way back."
"Roger that, heading back to base."
I lept down the building I was on before dashing through some alleyways which brought me into the main part of Evergrande city, I then proceed to blend into the crowd and walk towards Evergrande Station and got on the Bullet train back to base.
The ride back was uneventful, and I got off and back to base without a hitch. Where I swiftly went to Mother's room and reported how it had gone, afterward I went back to my room and associated with my pokemon for an hour or so.
After that, I went to train, a robot already there waiting for me to start. I went over to the terminal next to the ring and enabled the highest settings possible to give a challenge.
The timer counted down and the moment it hit zero I lunged at the robot, it sidestepped me and tried to deliver a kick to the head which I promptly caught and was about to break before it put a lot of force into a kick that dragged me down with it.
I kicked it hard in the chest before catching a punch from it and going for a right hook that was partially blocked before I blocked another punch directed at my gut. I launched a flurry of punches, half of which connected, before parrying a kick using my own kick and locking arms with the robot.
We were now stuck in a contest of who could push the other over, and once I had determined enough force was being applied to me. I stopped pushing, letting it fly forward and kicking it in the chest which launched in over my head.
I then found myself dodging bullets that started flying at me, swerving left, then right, flipping forward mid-air before landing on one foot and spinning around a couple of times and using the momentum to launch myself toward the robot. Barreling into the thing with my left shoulder.
That sent it flying to the ground at which point I put it in a chokehold, and after a few seconds it shut down signaling my win in the fight.
I got up and walked over to the bench to get a towel that I wiped myself off with before heading to the shower to properly wash off.
"Why does something always feel off, it's always very subtle, but I can't help but notice. The same thing happens when I'm with my pokemon, might as well ignore it for now"
I stepped out of the shower and got dressed again before going to mother's room since I had received a message saying she had a new assignment for me.
"Mother, I've arrived," I announced while knocking on the door.
"Enter" was all I heard before stepping in and bowing in respect.
"As you know, I have a new assignment for you, this one will be retrieval and assassination, though the retrieval takes full priority. You are to retrieve the Ancient Shield and Sword Relics and the legendary pokemon from the Champion and his rival in the Galar region, you will also be given command of a team of 4 just to be safe. You have a day to prepare anything you might need."
"Roger that, could you tell my team to meet me in meeting room #2 later tonight at 6:00?"
"That is acceptable, I will inform them immediately."
I then promptly left the room to prepare for the upcoming retrieval and possible assassination, grabbing an over the shoulder duffle bag I put in my signature Ruger 10/22 and 1 magazine of incendiary rounds along with my usual 2 magazines of armor-piercing rounds and loaded the current magazine with regular rounds. Along with that, I took out a set of Galarian looking clothes which consisted of a white pullover hoodie, dark blue jeans, a black with green stripes t-shirt, black fingerless gloves, and a green tam o' shanter.
After picking out these clothes, I brought them down to the tailor in the base, who didn't really do any normal tailoring, more like bullet proofed just about anything and enhanced clothing to be more durable and give more protection.
Turns out Mother had already informed him though, so I simply handed him the clothes and went back to my room and put more stuff in my duffle bag. I threw in 6 ultra balls and 6 Pokeball sized balls that were super expanding foam which encapsulated anything it hit. It would be helpful to quickly immobilize any threats and help keep the Relics safe.
After that, I went on my laptop, and to my surprise, I had an email from our resident surveillance guy that had an attachment with video footage of nearly everything our two targets had done in the past 7 days.
After analyzing the footage for a couple of hours I realized it was 4:00, I then promptly closed out and saved anything I was working on before shutting down my computer and heading to the archives inside the base. It was the moment that I had entered the archives that I instinctively felt pulled towards a place in it and I started walking towards it out of pure muscle memory. However, as I drew nearer by vision faded more and more and before I could do anything I completely blacked out.
Third Person POV
With his eyes now dull, he mindlessly walked to the very back of the small archives room and removed a panel from the radiator before reaching inside and retrieving a small box. He then opened it and took out a smaller cube from within, after that, he walked to the armory where he retrieved a block of C4 and going to an unused lab room to blow up the cube he had obtained.
After successfully confirming that the cube was blown to smithereens, he calmly walked back to the archives and took out some books with info on the Ancient Sword and Shield before walking back to his room and sitting down.
Back to his view
"Hmm? What was I doing?" I asked myself as I came to my senses and searching through my memories.
"Ah I see, I simply went to the library and looked for books pertaining to the relics," I said to myself to confirm the fact, after all, I had some bouts of blackouts at times but the Doctor said it wasn't too dangerous and if I just tried to recall what I'd been doing it would be fine.
I started reading the books and before I knew it, it was 6:00 and time to start my meeting with my team so I quickly rushed to meeting room 2.
I hope you all are safe during this time and enjoying my story! This chapter was hard to write as I've never written anything remotely close to it so my apologies if it came out slightly botched. On a side note, quarantine is still driving me crazy and I'm kind of depressed after losing 4 hours of progress on Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore because of some saving problems so don't expect too many chapters due to me grinding back to the point where I was and being addicted to the game XD. Ja ne!
