As it turns out, the winner of the battle Ash had seen a bit of was Elxte4. Two other battles had taken place, Mom vs Salt, and Itslitty vs, I kid you not, "*windows startup noise*". The winners had been Salt and Itslitty respectively. Now Ash had to face his first opponent, Hugh Mungus.

"And here he is! The amazing Ash!"
Ash stepped out onto the battlefield and received a roar from the crowd. He squinted in the light. He could just barely make out someone waving at him in one of the private boxes. Ash returned his attention to the opponent slowly making his way to the battle field.

"This is it, folks! The rival to rival your rival, Hugh Mungus!" A spiky haired boy wearing a red and white jacket stood opposite to Ash.

"Hugh Mungus, huh?" Ash asked, trying to start a conversation. Hugh Mungus shrugged.

"My real name is Hugh, but my friend Rosa told me to name myself Hugh Mungus in the tournament. The lady behind the desk said it was sexual harassment... What are you waiting for? Let's start the battle! Unfezant, go!" Hugh threw the Pokéball out in front of him and a male Unfezant popped out. Ash wasted no time choosing a Pokémon, and called Pignite out.

"Unfezant, use Aerial Ace!" Hugh commanded. The Pokémon obediently used the move. Pignite was hit, but it was a tough little Pokémon.

"Use Flamthrower!" Ash shouted.

"Dodge, and use Giga Impact!"

Unfezant didn't dodge and got hit by the plume of flames. He shrieked and tried to put out the flames. Ash saw the opportunity to attack.

"Pignite, use Brick Break!" Ash yelled. Pignite struck hard and fast and that was the end of that. Hugh returned Unfezant, somewhat disturbed by how lazy the author was. He sent out his next Pokémon, Simisage. It was a stupid choice, but Hugh didn't care. Simisage would soften Pignite up and make Samurott's job easier.

"Use Rockslide!" Hugh shouted. A bunch of rocks fell. Yada, yada, Simisage fainted. Samurott time now, boys.

"Samurott, use Hydro Pump now!"

"Dodge it, Pignite!" But Pignite couldn't dodge it and fainted instantly. Ash threw Palpitoad into the fray. Ash gave Palpitoad a command, and it used a Hydro Pump of it's own. It smashed into the side of Samurott's face. It retaliated with a Ice Beam.

"Use Supersonic, Palpitoad!" Palpitoad used the move. You've probably already gathered this, but I'm lazy and I don't particularly feel like continuing this battle.

"And the winner is; Ash!" The announcer screamed. Ash stood victorious. Hugh shook his head. Now Ash would move on to the next round.
