Asgore: King of the Monsters

I sat still on my throne, closing my eyes as I rested on it. Everything since then had gone so wrong. With a heavy sigh, I opened my eyes and looked at my gloved hands. These hands of mine, once only tasked with planting and caring for flowers, has slain the lives of six human children that have fallen from the surface. I clenched my fists, my mind still not past these regrets. With my Queen gone, I thought I was the only one who could save Monsterkind, the one who could shatter the barrier no matter the sacrifices...but  it's hard to do such a thing. I'm hardly fit to be the king of anything. With another sigh, I cleared my thoughts just a little so I could stand up. After grabbing my watering can, I looked at the golden flowers around me. Little by little, I started to water them with the birds chirping around me. I stood there watering those flowers for what felt like hours, though the whole time I couldn't shake off the humans from my brain. Not all of them are bad, I know that, but to sacrifice their souls is the only way us monsters can leave the Underground. I thought the sixth child was the last one, the yellow soul sitting in what I hoped was the last container. I can still remember...

---

The yellow haired child stood in front of me, looking up at me.

"We don't have to fight, ya know..." They said, smiling. I was facing the opposite direction, the barrier's howling being the only other sound.

"I even got this pie from that nice lady in the ruins." They said. I flinched, facing the child. Holding back tears, I held out my red trident and stabbed it into the ground next to the child.

"I know what I'm doing is wrong...but it's also the key to saving us...please forgive me..." I said, though to my surprise, the child looked at me with a smile.

"I know, you're the King after all. A king is there for his people, and I know ya want to help yer people. But I totally get it, so don't hold anything back! I have people I fight for too!" They said, twirling their loaded gun. I took a deep breath and summoned my fireballs. The child was overpowered almost instantly, with no bullets left in the gun by the end of the fight.

---

I looked down at the human in the striped sweater. They looked up at me with that same look they all gave me. Though I can't afford to give them a chance, not this time. I readied my trident, not giving the child the slightest chance of Mercy. I don't want to do this, I never did, and I still question why I do...but if it's for everyone, I'll slay them. I'll slay this final child.

"Human...It was nice to meet you...Goodbye."
