Chapter 6: No Scent

It was so silent in the training room Jungkook could hear the beginnings of rain. His heavy breathing subsided to a slow pace, similar to the rhythm of the rain falling on to the windows of the room.

There he sat, in the middle of the training room. His head hung low as his arms rested on his propped up knees. The sudden sound of a flock of crows flapping unnoticed.

Today, it reminded him of the past.

'Youngest champion at the age of fifteen.' He could still hear the news reporters and whisper of the citizens echoing through his mind.

At the age of fifteen, Jungkook won the championships.

That day, it poured non-stop and the joy he felt for his achievement washed away down the drain with the rain.

He finally did it. He finally achieved his dream and found his purpose in society. He lusted over the honour of being a hero, someone who helped the lives of others. But why didn't he feel so victorious all those years ago? Maybe it was because of the void that soon formed afterwards.

He was skilled for his age - well to be honest, skilled would be an understatement. His fellow Virtues called him golden. This meaning he was an all-rounder, great in everything, could contribute to anything. However, no amount of the skill or the praise could fill his loneliness.

Upon joining the agency, Jungkook had to take up a new life in Seoul. The innocent who didn't have anything in a world so big. He felt so small and forgotten in the bustling city that was thriving around him.

Jungkook was never a sociable person. He usually kept to himself and didn't open up to his fellow trainees when at V.I.R.T.U.E. Having been soo far away from his family didn't help either as yet again he felt alone. He missed his family. He tried his best to keep in contact with them by calling them as often as he could but he couldn't because he was always busy. He knew his brother, mother, father was waiting for him to return home but he couldn't.

Funny, you wouldn't expect the word loneliness to be one of the first words to come up when asking a Champion winner.

Deciding that it was time to pick himself off the metal floor, Jungkook pushed himself up. With his two guns in hand, he looked up to the circular contraption which sat on the high roof. A cool tone of yellow shone.

"Activate level eleven." It was then the low yellow changed to a bright one.

'Level eleven will begin in three.'

He would often catch himself spending the majority of his time as a trainee and one of the Virtues here; the training rooms.

'Two.'

'One, begin.'

The limp robot which was sitting a few metres away from Jungkook was now alive. The lighting that is hidden in the metal of the robot light up and shone the same as the circular machine. It charged forward, spear in hand. Swiping the spear across in an attempt to hit Jungkook, he hastily bent back.

The blade of the spear could be seen gliding inches away from the tip of Jungkook's nose.

Grabbing the body of the spear, Jungkook used the weight of the robot to push himself through the legs. Ending up behind the robot, Jungkook's eyes widened upon seeing the spear rapidly makings it way towards him.

Jumping up from the ground, Jungkook's figure glided effortlessly through the air. His hands came out in front of him with his gun to shoot at the robot. The lasers traced the movement of the robot as it tried to dodge Jungkook's attack.

That was one out of the two ways Jungkook was able to forget.

He forgot about his loneliness and simply became engrossed with the task at hand. That was what he liked so much about training. His drive to become better allowed him to escape from the emotions he was currently feeling and let loose on the field or during training.

Jungkook landed harshly on the metal floor, the soles of his feet produced a loud squeaking sound as he tried to balance himself. Both of his hands were planted on the floor, his guns resting in his grasp.

He heard the loud clanking steps of the robot and pulled the trigger. He knew he did not have enough time to get up so his shot pierced the robots right foot. Looking up, he sees the robot stumble back.

A rush of adrenaline came in and Jungkook used it to thrust himself forward. He placed the gun in his left hand into his belt and wounded his hand back to inflict a final blow.

"Kookieeeee!" A sweet voice interrupted his movement, Jungkook turned his head to look at the male who called out his name. It was then he was greeted by the knuckles of the machine. Jungkook tumbled to the floor with a grunt. His back hit the barrier of the training deck from the impact.

Jungkook winced as soon as he felt the wind of another punch heading his way...but it never did.

"End training sequence." Perking up from behind his arms, Jungkook's body laid flat on the floor when the barrier which was supporting his back fell. "Get up Kook, got something for you." Opening his eyes, the younger was greeted to a sweet smile looming overhead.

Second, the boys. The six boys who managed to fill the void; his brothers. Thanks to his brothers he no longer felt alone.

"Jimin?" Jungkook softly spoke, a small smile making its way onto his lips in the process. He was glad to see him.

"The one and only." The innocence in the youngers tone only made Jimin's smile wider. "Now come on." Holding out his hand, Jimin wriggled his fingers over Jungkook's head gesturing him to take it.

"I didn't expect you back until next week." Taking the elders hand, Jungkook allowed Jimin to pull him up from the ground.

"Hmm yeah well change of plans." Jimin sighed.

Once Jungkook was stable on both of his feet, Jimin threw him a small carton of his favourite. His actions catching the younger by surprise, Jungkook nearly missed the throw.

"I don't remember the last time I had one of these." Dangling what used to be his favourite drink in between his fingers, Jungkook opened the carton. "Thanks." There was much nostalgia hidden in the small carton in his hand.

It used to be the only thing that reminded him of home. Before coming to Seoul, his favourite thing to do after school was to drop by a convenience store and pick up one of these bad boys - a carton of banana milk. But after coming here to Seoul those trips seemed to get less and less until he stopped entirely. That was until Jimin discovered his love for the drink and began buying it for him.

Sad memories replaced with the happy.

Jimin only shook his head in response. "I swear you're going to work yourself to the bone one of these days." Once Jungkook had snapped back from another one of his deep trains of thoughts, he spotted Jimin sitting on one of the benches.

"So you simply dropped by to pass me a carton of banana milk?" Finding it rather unnecessary, Jungkook eyed the drink in slight confusion. But it wasn't all that out of character for Jimin, he had always been overwhelmingly kind and caring towards others.

"Partially."

"Partially?" Jungkook repeated whilst taking a seat next to Jimin.

"Hmm. Our patrol schedules have been moved, we are heading out tomorrow." The younger was halfway through taking a sip when Jimin decided to drop the news, thus causing Jungkook to choke a little.

"No wonder your back early." He replied after recovering from his small coughing fit.

"Ye, they said something about needing all hands on deck. Demonic activity is rising again Kook and we need to keep everyone safe." The playfulness in Jimin's voice was no more, instead, it took a more serious turn. This made Jungkook gulp, his gaze shifted from Jimin to the row of windows. There you could barely see anything but the multiple droplets of water crashing into the transparent glass.

The rain was getting heavier.

"You ready to get back onto the field?" Breaking the silence that had fallen between the two, Jimin too was looking up at the windows. It was clear Jimin was worried about Jungkook. He knew that the pressure sometimes got to him and he wanted to let Jungkook know that he~ all of them were here for him.

Out of the corner of his eye, Jungkook could see the shine reflecting off his gun. Pulling his weapon out, his let his thumb glide over the symbol etched in the body. "As I'll ever be." With a sigh, Jungkook spun the gun in between his fingers and placed it back into his holster.

Jimin knew there was something wrong but he didn't want to push it out of Jungkook. If he didn't want to talk about it we wouldn't pressure him. "Well I'm going to get some breakfast, you coming?" Pressing his lips into a thin line, Jimin quickly pushed back his worries so a smile could replace his frown.

"I'll meet up with you later." Pushing himself up from the bench, Jimin simply nodded whilst making his way to the exit. Jungkook however, remained on the bench, taking another sip of the drink he momentarily forgot about.

You all will see more of Jimin and Jungkook more in the next few chapters.

I left a few hints in this chapter ;)

Any of you guys know where the title of this chapter is from?

But on a serious note and to the reason I published this chapter a little earlier. I posted a very important notice on my notice board regarding this book. I know some of you probably didn't see it so I am going to put it below. Thank you for your understanding <3

Hey guys,
So I have been thinking about this for a long time now and I think I have finally made the decision to temporarily get rid of my updating schedule and go on semi-hiatus. I will only be updating when I have the time and I sadly won't be online as much anymore.
I am in my final year of high school so the work load is slowly pilling up and up and I haven't been able to write like I used to. I also recently haven't been achieving my desired scores so I've decided to begin solely focusing on my final year of studies.
I feel awful that it has to come to this. I have been on Wattpad since 2015 and for 4 years I have kept a frequent updating schedule so it feels weird to only update when I can and I don't want to keep you all waiting. I really want the chapters I publish out for you all to be the best the chapter could be and that might take some time now that I have a lot more work to juggle.I will try my best to update as frequently as I possibly can. Thank you for all of your continuous support. I will try my best to respond to your comments when I'm gone, they always brighten up my day. Love, Sea Xxxx
