Chapter 12: Aftermath

"And now we have an update on the largest scaled simultaneous demon attacks which happened around our continent earlier this morning." The first thing you hear as you come to was the familiar voice of Suzy. The ever-annoying reporter who seemed to love lingering around the front of the headquarters building.

You let out a groan mixed with frustration and pain. A reporters' voice was not an ideal sound to be greeted with when waking up. It was also because of the throbbing pain in your shoulder. The pain caused your eyes to snap open. However, you had to quickly close then back again due to the bright lights of the room you were in.

Where are you?

You allowed yourself to readjust to the white light around you, your blurry surrounding now forming a space you feel somewhat familiar too.

"Just earlier this morning, operatives of V.I.R.T.U.E around the world faced attacks upon their museums."

The first thing your eyes laid upon was the white curtains, encasing you in a small space with a tall metal framed bed and bedside table. Above the curtains laid a flat-screen which was playing the news. You immediately recognise the room to be the headquarters infirmary.

"Dozens of buildings surrounding the museums were severely damaged during these battles and many citizens injured." You watched the news flash videos of the destruction from each of the cities affected. The site left your mouth slightly ajar.

You were in the fight itself but you had no idea the damage was to this extent. The Korean museum was basically no longer there, all that was left was a small room which was hanging on its hinges. A lot of the other museums were no better, some completely destroyed.

After the news flashed videos of the surroundings of the museums. Streets were cracked with chunks missing, apartment buildings missing entire floors, houses completely crumpled. The sight caused you to gasp. You have never seen such a large-scale attack before and to have it synchronised with each other...your suspicions where right. There was definitely something going on.

"After the break, I will be going down to inspect the damages made. I will also be personally speaking with a few victims." As soon as the break was cued you looked down upon yourself. You were surprised to find that you were no longer in your black cargo pants, black cut out  jumper and yellow top. Now you looked more comfy with a pair of tracksuit pants and a white t-shirt. You assumed Minjin had changed you which you were comfortable with. You had been to the infirmary a few times so this wouldn't be the first.

You had had enough of sitting so you tried to push yourself off of the bed. But once you put weight on your arms, you felt a burning sensation return. This caused you to divert your eyes to your shoulder. It was wrapped neatly, preventing you from seeing the damage of the wound. You fought the temptation of peeling it away but before you could a loud voice stopped you in your tracks.

"Minjin, I need to see her." The voice pleaded, you knew all too well who that voice belonged to.

"Zel, I have told you multiple times." Minjin began, annoyance evident in her tone. "She is sleeping."

"I know (y/n), her and sleep don't get along very well."  She rebutted and before you knew it, the curtain of your room was roughly pulled open. It revealed a very annoyed Minjin and a very determined Zel. "Oh, well it looks like she's awake." Zel smiled before skipping her way past Minjin and into the enclosed room.

Slapping her hand on your cheeks, Zel pulled your head to face her as she examined the state you were in. She squished your cheeks together which caused you to scoff and swat her hands away. "Are you okay (y/n)?! Oh my gosh look at your arm!"

"I wonder why." You hear the nurse mumble to herself before joining Zel at the edge of your bed.

"Zel calm down, I'm fine."

"Here." Upon hearing Minjin's voice, you turned and your eyes immediately landed on the two pills which laid in her hand. "Take these, it will ease the pain." Nodding your head in reply, you took the two pills and the glass of water before swallowing the pills with one big gulp of water.

"Thanks, Minjin." You shot the women a warm smile and she smiled back in reply.

"I was hoping to see you less in here, thinking you had learnt from your past exper~" Minjin began only to stop talking as the news quickly caught all three of your attention.

"This is Son Hojun. He among hundreds of others have been left without a home due to the pure destruction of the battle this morning." The camera panned slowly from Suzy to the male next to her. His expression showing everything but gratitude or relief.

"Yes, Suzy. After V.I.R.T.U.E deemed our neighbourhood safe to return to...except we didn't really have much to return to." He began his tone almost venom like. "All the apartments had been destroyed leaving me and hundreds of other residences of our complex homeless." He ranted whilst the news showed aerial shots of the state his apartment complex was in. "Now you all think V.I.R.T.U.E are here to help us but are they truly helping or causing more chaos." His rant started to take a turn and it caused both you and Zel to frown. "They are supposed to be our saviours and our heroes but they can hardly call themselves that. How can we trust them after all the damage they have caused. Not to mention the fact that none of the operatives even managed to defeat the demons who attacked us earlier this morning. They don't even compensate for the damage done to ours and many other peoples complexe~"

In a fit of anger, Minjin was quick to switch off the screen. Minjin was a level headed person, she always thought through things before proceeding and was a very tolerating person. She hardly ever raised her voice or got angry. She needed this skill in her line of work, not everyone was as cooperating as you were when receiving treatment. But now, seeing her switch off the screen so quickly and seeing the way her chest rose and fell at such a rapid pace scared you.

"Fucking bastard doesn't know shit." You hear someone say from the other side of the curtain, their voice sounded familiar but not at the same time.

"Hyung quite down, we aren't the only ones here," Another spoke.

Zel and you both turned your heads to face the direction of the ruckus before adverting both of your confused expressions to Minjin.

The doctor had her eyes closed whilst her chest rose and fell slowly as if she was trying to calm herself down. The sight caused you to frown with worry. "Minjin, are you okay?" Your question caught her by surprise and caused her to snap her eyes open.

She let out a deep breath and turned to face you and Zel. Zel was still staring at the curtain with confusion whilst you shot her a worried frown. "We are a full house today." She spoke softly, dodging your question and giving Zel an answer to her confusion. She didn't ignore you entirely as she made sure to turn to you and smiled curtly. You got the hint that she didn't want to talk about it so you didn't push any further and smiled back.

"Who would be~"

"(Y/N)!!!!" Interrupting Zel mid-sentence, you hear the curtains roughly open for a second time before you were enveloped into a tight hug. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there to help, I was about to jump into the museum to help you but then I spotted some citizens trying to make their way down the street and I needed to help them and then Taeyong~" Wanting to shut Ten's rant up, you pinched at the skin on his waist. This caused him to retract from the hug with a wince. "What was that for?" He pouted whilst he rubbed the area you pinched dramatically.

"It's okay Ten, chill." You laughed. Ten only shook his head and enveloped you into yet another hug.

"No, your hurt now and I wasn't there for support." His rambling even caused Minjin to roll her eyes.

"Ten it's okay. You did what you needed to do. Besides, the two Virtue's were there with me for back up." You tried to reassure Ten with hopes of calming him down.

"Can you remind me where you were again...slowly?" Raising one eyebrow, you eyed the male up and down in a suspicious manner.

"Ahhh." Taking Ten by surprise, he quickly retracted from his hug and scratched the back of his nape guiltily. "Taeyong asked me to get a sample for him." He said before pointing at the male entering the room.

"Samples?"

"We've never seen anything like it (y/n)." Taeyong sighed.

"It couldn't have been that powerful...could it?" Zel said slowly as a shiver ran down her spine just at the thought of the creature.

"Taeyong is right," Minjin added while she went to the tools sitting on your bedside table. "In all my years of working here, I have not seen one let alone two of the Seven Virtue's being overpowered." You knew Minjin was only stating the facts but her sentence seemed to silence the entire room. The whole atmosphere of the room tensed as you all fully processed what this meant. The only sound to ring through the room was the sound the utensils made when Minjin picked them up. "Not to mention the fact that someone hacked into our systems as well. All my medical files were suddenly offline when I was updating them this morning." Making her way out of the curtained room, you heard Minjin turn on the tap to begin washing.

"And I thought we were supposed to have the most advanced security system on the planet." Ten scoffed. You could hear his foot disappointingly tapping against the vinyl flooring.

"Supposed to be," Zel repeated. You can just tell by the tone of her voice that she was also unimpressed.

"It was insane. It was like the hacker was working at ten times the pace of our best hacker here at V.I.R.T.U.E. They had me talking into the microphone for a solid five minutes thinking the two of you were listening and replying the entire time." Taeyong let out a huff before he twisted his wrist. This action allowed a series of holograms to pop up around himself.

"So have the results come on yet?"

"Ye, according to the history books his name is Xaphan." Pulling up a profile of the said creature, Taeyong sent the window over to hover in front of your face. Both you and Zel leaned forward to read the profile. You had to squint your eyes so you could skim over his description. You always had trouble looking at the blue text used in the holograms.

"Who?"

"He is a fallen angel." And that was when the pieces missing from the jigsaw puzzle started to fall into place. You remembered this morning commenting on his angelic movements. As well as the odd way his hair was beginning to fade from platinum blonde to black. Or how his wings bore white feathers instead of black.

"Why would they send a such a powerful demon to destroy museums?"

"The museum acts as a sense of hope and security to the people. Although V.I.R.T.U.E is constantly working to fight against demons, the community needs a constant reminder to just how much we do." Minjin voiced once she entering the curtains again. "Destroy a communities sense of security and hope and..."

"You have chaos and distrust." You say, finishing off Minjins sentence.

"Exactly."

School's starting up again and I'm not sure how frequent my updates are going to be, I'll try my best but in the meantime, I hope you enjoyed the chapter <333
