Narrator's POV

Rebecca found Colby in the quad at lunch. She skipped up to him.
"Colby!" she said with a smile.
"Hey Bex," he said looking up at her.
" Guess what! " she said as she took a seat next to him.
"What?" he asked.
"I have a date on Friday night!" she said smiling .
So this is what it feels like to have your heart torn out thought Colby as he forced a smile.
"You do?" he said .
"Yeah," she said "It's with a new student. His name is Joe. I actually ran into him before first period.Then he caught me before Miss. Vega's Spanish class and asked me out."
"And you said yes?! " said Colby.

Colby's POV

Rebecca nodded and smiled "Yeah."
"Oh," I said.
"Yeah so Fergal,Liz and I are going shopping after school," she said "So I will meet you after football practice at the mall?"
I smiled "I can take you guys to the mall," I said .
"Why?" she asked " It is just down the street, " she smiled "Our legs aren't broken. It is a beautiful day. So we can walk ," she smiled wider and her beautiful hazel eyes danced.
" Well then I will meet you at the food court then after football practice, " I said.
"Thanks Colby," she said and kissed my cheek "I will see you later."
I watched as she stood up and went to where Fergal and Dori Elizabeth were sitting.
Claudio sat down next to me smiling "What was that about?!"
"What?" I ask.
"That whole thing with that Quin girl," said Claudio .
I rolled my eyes "Her name is Rebecca," I said " I wish you'd learn to use it. "
I stood up and brushed myself off.
"Colby!" he said.
"No I wish you and the gang would see her for who she is on the inside. If you actually took the time to get to know her you'd like her. She doesn't always have her nose stuck in a book," I said looking down at Claudio .
"Dude come on," he said rolling his eyes "Are you sweet on her or something?"
"Or something," I said " You know what I will see you at practice. "
I left Claudio sitting there with his mouth hanging open.

Rebecca's POV

"So what did Colby say?" asked Fergal as I sat back down.
" He was shocked but he seemed happy, " I said as I picked up my fork.
"He will pick you up at the mall?" asked Dori Elizabeth.
I nodded "He said he'd meet me at the food court," I said.
"So what is our plan of attack. We need a killer outfit for your first date," said Fergal drinking his water.
"I don't know! " I said "I have never been on a date. What do you wear?" I look at Dori Elizabeth .
" You're asking me? " asks Dori Elizabeth "I have never been on a date!"
Fergal laughed "You're lucky my sister is in college for fashion.And your lucky her and I share the same eye for it."
I rolled my eyes "Thanks Ferg," I said with a smile.
"Do you want to wear jeans or a dress?" asked Dori Elizabeth .
"A dress duh," said Fergal.
I looked at Fergal "Excuse me this is me not you," I said .
Fergal laughed "Good one Bex. But in all seriousness have you seen the guy you're going out with?" he asked
"Ummm yes," I said " But why does the way Joe look have to have me in a dress. "
"Bex you have legs to die for. You need to show them off," said Fergal.
I blushed "Thanks Ferg," I said "If you weren't into guys. You'd be a girls dream guy."
Fergal shrugged "Just wish I could be a guy's dream guy," he said.
I frown and patted Fergal's hand "Don't worry Ferg. Your dream guy is out there," I said .
"Where?" he asked .
"If I knew that I'd play the lotto," I said "because I'd be psychic."
Fergal snorted with laughter and when he did he shot water out his nose which made Dori Elizabeth and myself burst into laughter.

Narrator's POV

Renee,Jonathan, Claudio and Ashley are watching Rebecca and her friends laughing.
"Ugh," said Ashley rolling her eyes "What do they have to be so happy about?"
The four friends watched as Joe approached Rebecca's table.
"What the actual fuck is the new guy doing," asked Renee as she ran her fingers threw Jonathan's hair.
" Yeah doesn't he know those three are dweebs? " laughed Ashley.
Claudio shook his head "Come on guys let's ease up on them," he said
Three sets of eyes look at him with shock before Ashley speaks.
"What has gotten into you? Are you sweet on that Quin girl?"
" Her name is Rebecca. Maybe we can start using it, "said Claudio pushing away from the table and standing.
" C! " said Ashley looking up at him.
"Maybe it's time we get to know her," said Claudio with a shrug " For Colby's sake. After all she is his best friend. "
"Are you drunk?" asked Renee "Us be nice to the Quin girl?"
Claudio shook his head as he left. Leaving them with their mouths agape.

Rebecca's POV

"Is this seat taken?" asked Joe.
We looked up at him and I smiled "No," I said "Have a seat."
He smiled and slid into the seat between Dori Elizabeth and I.
"Joe this is Dori Elizabeth but she likes Liz and you've seen Fergal," I said introducing my friends .
"Hi," he said with a smile " You were with Bex when we ran into each other, " he looks at them.
Dori Elizabeth nodded "Yeah that would be us," she said with a smile.
"So how long have you known Bex?" he asked as he cut his piece of meatloaf at least I think that was what that brown blob was on his tray.
" Bex and I have known each other since we were six and still lived in Ireland, " said Fergal.
"You're from Ireland?" said Joe " I don't detect an accent. "
"Probably because I have been here in the states since I was eight. But get me angry and my Irish side comes out," I said.
" Bex and I met the first day of third grade, " said Dori Elizabeth.
Joe nodded as he ate the brown blob.
"So tell me something about yourself," I said looking at Joe " Where are you from? "
"Pensacola," said Joe " But my Dad's job transferred him here to Davenport this past July. So here I am, " he spread his arms wide.
I laughed "So do you have any siblings?" I asked .
"I do. I have three older brothers and one younger sister. My older brothers Loki, Layton and, Logan are still down in Florida. But my Mom,Dad, my sister Leila and I are here."
" How did you get Joe when all your siblings are L names?" asks Fergal.
"My real name is Leati but my middle name is Joseph so I go by Joe since my Dad is Leati also," said Joe " So Bex do you have any siblings? "
"I do," I said " A brother Richard he is three years older than I am. "
"Cool," said Joe smiling as the bell rang " Well I guess we will continue this conversation on our date Friday. "
I smiled and nodded "Okay," I said.
