Narrator's POV

After the sit down dinner. Some of the tables were moved to make more dance space available. The DJ Annette hired was getting ready to spin records and take requests. Gary was cool with some of the new music as long it wasn't rap.
Rebecca and Dori Elizabeth had gone to the bathroom with Rebecca's sixteen year old step cousin Janice.
"Do you mind if I ask your friend Colby to dance?" asked Janice.
Rebecca looked at her wide eyed threw the mask "Colby Lopez? That Colby," she said.
"Do you have more than one friend named Colby?" asked Janice.
"Ummm," said Rebecca " No. Only one Colby."
"So do you mind if I ask him to dance?" asked Janice again.

Rebecca's POV

"Umm no I don't mind," I said when in fact I did mind I minded a lot.
"Good," said Janice her baby blues lighting up.
Janice was any guys dream come true. Blonde, blue eyed,she spread her legs easier than butter and her boobs are bigger than my head.
Dori Elizabeth and I watched as Janice left.
"Bex are you insane?" asked Dori Elizabeth .
"What Liz! Colby and I are just friends," I said throwing out the paper towel I was holding.
"But your cousin is a whore!" said Dori Elizabeth looking at me wide eyed.
" Well then I guess Colby is getting lucky tonight, " I said with a shrug.
I walked out of the bathroom and joined up with Joe.
"Hey Bex would you like to dance?" he asked .
I smiled up at him "Yes Joe I think that would be lovely," I said.

Narrator's POV

Joe lead Rebecca to the dance floor as How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) by Marvin Gaye.Joe took her into his arms and they started to dance to the old song that in actuality was a favorite of Rebecca's. When she was a little girl back in Ireland she'd dance on her Grandfather Hal's feet to this song in her Grandparents house. Sadly she lost her Grandfather Hal when she was fourteen and she never cried harder in her life then when she had to say goodbye to that sweet man.
"Are you okay Bex?" asked Joe .
Rebecca looked up at him and nodded "Fine. It's the song. I would dance with me Grandda Hal to this song when I was a little girl back in Ireland."
Joe nodded "So it has sentimental value to you," he said .
Rebecca nodded as she wiped tears away.
"Hey. Come on now," said Joe lifting her mask so he could wipe her tears.
Rebecca smiled up at him "Thank you Joe," she said.
"You're welcome Bex," he said as the song finished up.
Rebecca pulled her mask back down as When A Man Loves A Woman by Percy Sledge begins.
Colby tapped Joe on his shoulder.
"May I have this dance?" he asked .
Joe nodded and hands Rebecca's hand to Colby after he kissed it.

Colby's POV

I took Rebecca into my arms as Percy Sledge began.She smiled at me.

She put her head on my shoulder and I can feel my heart begin to race. This felt so right. So good but alas she was starting to see Joe who kindly let me have this one dance.

"Bex?" I said.
"Hmm," she hummed.
"I uh," I said as she picked up her head to look at me.
"Are you okay Colby?" she asked.
"Fine," I said " It's just that I am happy you and Joe found one another. "
She smiled at me "Thanks Colby but this is just our second date. We aren't announcing an engagement or anything."
I chuckled "Well I saw the smile on your face when you were dancing with him during that first song. Rebecca that smile made you even more beautiful than you already are."
" Colby stop, " she said blushing and lowering her head.
I lifted her chin as we continue to dance.

She looks at me and blinks back tears "Thanks Colby," she said .

She wrapped her arms around my neck and laid her head onto my shoulder. I felt her melt into my arms.
Her vanilla and strawberry shampoo hit my nostrils and it intoxicated me.

She lifted her head and our eyes connected. My breath caught in the back of my throat and before I knew what I was doing. I was crashing my lips into hers.

We stayed that way for a few moments but when the song ended she drew back. She looks at me like a deer in the headlights.
"Why? Why did you do that?" she asked her eyes wide as she held her lips.
" Rebecca I am so sorry, " I said as went to touch her as (Today I Met) The Boy I'm Going To Marry by Darlene Love she drew back.
"Don't," she said shaking her head.
"Rebecca?"
"Colby please don't make this anymore awkward than it already is, " she said.
She fled the floor in tears I watched as Dori Elizabeth and Fergal run after her.
