Narrator's POV

The Sweetheart Dance was being held in the gym of the High School. It was decorated in the traditional colors of Valentine's Day shades of pink,red and white.
Rebecca, Joe, Dori Elizabeth, Richard, Fergal and Nigel were among the last to arrive they were followed in by Colby and his friends. Colby and Rebecca locked eyes and both of their hearts sped up a bit.
"Bex?" said Joe breaking into Rebecca's thoughts .

Rebecca's POV

"Yes Joe," I said .
"Would you like something to drink?" he asked.
I nodded "That sounds nice," I said .
He smiled "Why don't you go find a table and I will get some drinks."
Joe smiled and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I watched as Colby and Alana walked to a table. He pulled her chair out for her and she smiled at him giving him a kiss on the cheek before she sat down.
I rolled my eyes "Yuck," I said aloud.
" Are you okay Bex? " asks Dori Elizabeth.
I nodded "Fine Liz," I said .
Dori Elizabeth raised an eyebrow "Really?" she said.
"I am fine honest," I said.
"Right," she said.

Narrator's POV

Rebecca and Joe danced some dances before taking a break. Rebecca watched as Colby and Alana continues to dance.
"Joe can I talk to you?" asked Rebecca.
Joe nodded "I need to talk to you too," said Joe.
Joe lead Rebecca out of the gym and to the quad. There were a few couples out here making out they include Renee and Jonathan.
"Joe can we go find some place that our classmates aren't sucking each other's faces off?" she asked.
Joe nodded "Yeah," he said.
They found a quiet place in the foyer of the school.They sat on the bench.
"Can I go first?" asked Rebecca.
Joe nodded "Go ahead," he said.

Rebecca's POV

I looked at Joe and sighed "I can't. I can't do this," I pointing between us "Joe you're a sweetheart but I can't string you along anymore," I looked down " I think we should break up.-"
I looked back up to see Joe smiling.
"-You're happy about this?!" I asked .
"Yes because Bex I was going to say the same thing," he said.
"What?!" I said.
"I uhhh realize that I am not in love with you. I love you but as a friend," he said "And besides I know all to well you can't tell me that you're in love with me," he looked me dead in the eyes "Because it has never been me. It's always been Colby. "
I looked at him and nodded "Yes," I said.
"Then go tell him," he said.
He kissed my cheek and I his.
"Thank you Joe," I said.

Narrator's POV

Rebecca ran to the gym and was nearly knocked over by a fleeing Alana in tears. Colby was close at her heels.
He stopped when he saw Rebecca.
"Is she okay?" asked Rebecca.
"Yes," he said " It's just that I broke up with her."
"You broke up with her?!" said Rebecca.
Colby nodded "Yes," he said .
Rebecca laughed slightly "I just broke up with Joe," she said.
Colby smiled at her "You did?!"
Rebecca nodded "Yes because I never was in love with him, Colby."
"Really?! " he said.
"Yes because Colby it's only you it always has been. Ever since we were kids," she said smiling.
Colby didn't say a word instead he captured her lips with his.
"Let's get out of here," said Colby against her lips.
She nodded and he broke their kiss. He grabbed her hand and the ran just as fast as they could from the school.
