Siblings
Nathan sat amazed as the car continued driving deeper into the estate. He knew Scarlett's family had a lot of money, but it was nothing compared to Lucas's. The driveway extended into a loop around the front of the mansion. Nathan's ocean eyes were glued to the home. It had a set of steps leading up to the double doors. The white mansion easily filled around 20 squared feet. Nathan was amazed when Lucas drove towards the entrance to the driveway that lay underneath the house and was assessed by a small hill.
"How? I know your parents make good money, but I wasn't expecting this," Nathan admitted almost speechless.
"My family has lived here for generations. Thats why they wanted me to get a better job that a teacher, they want me to have this place. They know I won't make enough to keep this place running." Lucas shrugged, pressing a button on his car which opened the garage door.
"I take it you don't want to inherit this place?" Nathan questioned, unable to keep the surprise from his voice.
"It seems mad, doesn't it? I've been raised here, but I don't want to stay here. I don't want to rely on my parents and the money my family's has left me. I want to sleep without being worried I won't have enough money. My inheritance will only go so far, you know?" Lucas ranted, pulling into a parking space.
"I do. Obviously I don't understand this exact situation, but I've been in a similar situation," Nathan admitted, leaning over and kissing Lucas's cheek.
"When?" Lucas questioned, taking his key out of his ignition.
"Do you remember when I told you I lived alone before I moved back in with Ryan and Erin?" Nathan questioned, taking his seatbelt off.
Lucas hummed in response as he copied Nathan's actions and undid his seatbelt.
"I didn't have to be alone. Social services offered to put me in a place with other my age just out of the system. I refused and moved in alone; I didn't want their help I had no choice but to let them pay my rent and bills until I turned seventeen," Nathan explained, getting out of the car.
"Why didn't you agree to it?" Lucas questioned, getting out of the car and grabbing Nathan's hand.
"I didn't want it, I didn't need their help. They'd already hurt me, I guess, I can't think of a better word for it. That's also why I didn't want help with Dylan. Everyone that knew about him, expect Scarlett has hurt me." Nathan admitted.
"I get what you'd mean. I feel the same; I want to be independent and not rely on my family. I'm guess you didn't want social servicers involved with Dylan?" Lucas lead Nathan into the kitchen from the back door.
"Exactly, and I didn't want them to take him away from me." Nathan added.
The kitchen was quite similar to the Woods'. Dark marble counters stretched around half of the room, with an island in the separating the counters to the rest of the kitchen. The oven was placed in the middle of the island, with the sink being opposite the oven and the fridge being at the edge of the room. The other half of the room was filled with a large dining table.
"Lucas!" A shout of his name stopped Lucas from responding. Hearing fastly approaching footsteps caused the teen to turn towards the door, just in time to see his sister rush through.
Nathan took his hand out of Lucas' just in time because the young girl attached herself to him.
"Hi, Emily," Lucas forced out as his sister continued to squeeze him.
"You took forever," Emily complained as she stomped her foot and crossed her arms.
"You knew I was leaving Em. Josh's here. I didn't leave you alone. Now, stop being a little brat before I tell dad," Lucas threatened, forcing his sister's arms away from his torso.
"I haven't done anything wrong!" Emily shouted, stomping her foot again.
"Stop it, Emily! You're far to old for tantrums. How old are you?" Lucas questioned, kneeling down to Emily's height.
"Ten," Emily spat, attempting to shove her older brother.
"Then act like it!" Lucas ordered. Grabbing his sister's arms and forcing them at her side.
"It's not my fault! If you didn't leave, I wouldn't be acting like this!" Emily defended, glaring at Lucas.
"I had no choice. Nathan needed me to pick him up. I couldn't say no," Lucas reasoned.
Nathan's stomach turned when he was brought into the conversation.
"You could have! He could have just taken the bus. Why can't he drive, anyway?" Emily spat, struggling to get you off Lucas's hold.
Nathan couldn't ignore the slight pain in his stomach when he heard that.
"It's not any of your business but he can dive he just doesn't have a car yet. I was going to be nice and not tell dad, but you haven't given me a choice now. Get to your room!" Lucas raised his voice, ignoring the tears welling up in his sister's eyes.
Not even bothering to hide her tears, Emily ran out of the room.
Lucas shook his head disappointedly and stood up.
"Are you okay?" Lucas questioned gently, pulling Nathan into his arms and placing a kiss on his head.
"Why wouldn't I be? I've been called worse, belive me," Nathan assured, pulling away and kissing Lucas.
"If you're sure?" Lucas asked and pulled away when he got a nod in response. "Will you be alright in the living room while I sort this out? Josh shouldn't bother you, he barely leaves his room," Lucas questioned, leading the younger teen into the living room.
Calling the room large would be an understatement. One large L-shaped couch filled the middle of the room, with a coffee table separating the couch from the 90 inch tv. The tv was placed on the white wall with a stand underneath, holding the families gaming consoles. At the right of the room, there was a fireplace that held family photos, while the others hung on the walls throughout the room and hallways.
Taking a seat on the couch, Nathan watched as Lucas pulled out his phone and called his father. The conversation only lasted around two minutes before Lucas left the room.
"Why have you got that?" Nathan questioned when Lucas walked back into the room holding an iPad.
"It's Emily's; my dad told me to. She has to stay upstairs until he comes in," Lucas explained, placing the iPad on the coffee table.
"How long is that going to be?" Nathan questioned, fiddling with his jacket.
"Around an hour. Not long." Lucas shrugged, opening his arms so they could cuddle.
Gladly falling into his boyfriend's arms, Nathan closed his eyes. He knew it was his fault Emily got in trouble, If he wasn't so picky in what he drove, Lucas wouldn't have had to pick him up. Besides, it probably wasn't Emily's fault she got afraid, Nathan knew he was the same at her age.
"What are you thinking about?" Lucas's voice pulled Nathan out of his thoughts.
"Nothing," Nathan whispered, leaning up and kissing Lucas. He knew it wasn't his place to say anything, after all, he wasn't part of their family.
"Are you sure? You we're zoned out for a while," Lucas said, his voice full of concern.
"Yes, I'm sure, Luke. It's not important; I promise,"
"Fine, I won't push. You know you can tell me anything, right?" Lucas questioned, not completely convinced when Nathan nodded.
Deciding to stay true to his word, Lucas didn't push his boyfriend. Instead, the teen grabbed the remote and turned the tv on. Lucas flicked to a random channel and started watching. Lucas started running his hand through Nathan's hair when he saw his boyfriend's eyes were closed, knowing he'd drifted off to sleep.
Nathan woke up to someone shaking his shoulder. Groaning, Nathan attempted to push himself closer to Lucas and go to sleep. His plan was ruined by the annoyance returning.
"What?" Nathan groaned, opening his eyes slightly and shifting so he could see his boyfriend.
"You need to get up, Babe; my dad just called, he's on his way." Lucas kissed Nathan's head before loosening his grip on the younger teen.
"Does he know I'm here?" Nathan asked, taking his head off of Lucas and stretching.
Lucas nodded and reached over the couch to plug his phone on charge.
"Is he alright with me being here?" Nathan asked hesitatingly as he pulled out of his phone and unlocked it.
"Your my boyfriend Nate, you can come here whenever you want. Besides, my dad knows you, It's not like your some stranger," Lucas said kindly, taking Nathan's hand.
"Until your mum comes home, then I am a stranger," Nathan countered, lying his head on Lucas's shoulder.
"I highly doubt that," A voice sounded, grabbing the couple's attention as a boy a couple of years younger than them walking into the room. "With how often he goes on about you, I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like we've already met," the boy continued, his blue eyes shining with mischief as he sat down opposite the couple.
"I do not!" Lucas spat, sending Josh a death glare.
"I take it you're Josh?" Nathan asked, sending Lucas a small smile when he saw Lucas getting annoyed at the boy's comments.
"So you've heard about me?" Josh questioned, sending Nathan a smirk.
"I've heard a few things, can't say they're all good though," Nathan said.
"Let me guess, that I drank a bit and lent my friend my vape? Like it's some crime?" Josh ranted.
"I hate to break it to you," Lucas began, sending his brother a glare, "But you're fifteen, so smoking and drinking is illegal," Lucas reminded.
"Whatever. I am not the only person to break the law, am I?" Josh remarked, glaring at the couple before he stood up and slammed the door on his way out.
Shaking his head, Lucas sent Nathan an apologetic look.
"Is he always like that?" Nathan questioned, ignoring his boyfriend's look.
"Only when he's annoyed, tired or angry. So most of the time really," Lucas admitted as the pair shared a laugh.
"Are you sure you're all related?" Nathan questioned after a moment of silence.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Lucas questioned, giving Nathan a confused look.
"You're kind, understanding, you never lose your temper, you never get furious and you're just always their for me. Your siblings just aren't like that." Nathan shrugged. He watched Lucas look down.
"Aw, you're blushing!" Nathan announced, making Lucas' blush worse.
"No, I'm not," Lucas defended, refusing to look up.
"Then why aren't you looking at me?" Nathan commented innocently, grabbing his boyfriend's chin and lifting his head. Nathan smiled in victory when he was Lucas's blush.
"Wipe that smile off of your face," Lucas wined, dragging out the symbols.
"Sorry Babe." Nathan laughed, When he saw the fake hurt in Lucas's eyes, he brought his boyfriend for a kiss. Nathan cupped Lucas's cheek, deepening the kiss.
After their need for oxygen became too much to bear, the kiss was broken. Lucas instantly put their foreheads together as they took deep breaths.
"We should go that more often," Nathan gasped, struggling to catch his breath.
"I agree," Lucas whispered, pecking Nathan's lips.
Untangling himself from his boyfriend's arms, Nathan shifted until he was comfortable.
"Are you not getting up?" Lucas questioned, pulling himself up.
"I'm too comfortable, come and get me when your dad gets here," Nathan ordered and got his phone out of his pocket.
"He'll be here any minute, I let you sleep as long as I could. I don't want him to come in here and see you sleeping. You barely know him."
"Lucas, I've known him for months, he's my boss, in case you've forgotten. He's been at work right?" Nathan asked, taking his eyes off of his phone to look at Lucas.
"I know he's your boss Babe, but I don't think you'll make a good impression if you're caught sleeping in his house," Lucas admitted, casting his gaze to his sister's iPad.
"I'm surprised she hasn't come and got it," Nathan said, following the blond's gaze.
"She knows I won't let her and I'll tell my dad. She's in enough trouble already. She doesn't need the extra punishment," Lucas informed, sitting beside the black.
Nathan hummed in response and opened Google on his phone. He types in the company Ryan had recommended and began looking at motorbikes.
"Any idea what kind you want?" Lucas questioned as he looked over Nathan's shoulder.
Nathan shook his head. "I'm going to see what there is before I start being picky," he mumbled, scrolling through the motorbikes.
"Good idea-" Lucas's voice was cut short by the sound of a car driving past the window.
"Are you ready?" Lucas questioned sarcastically, sending Nathan a comforting smile.
