Questions
Throwing the blankets off him, Nathan groaned. It was the third time that night he had been awake: the first time was to puke, emptying his stomach of the plain toast he'd ate the previous night. The second time he was convinced it was snowing, and he'd left the window open. However, upon checking, he discovered nothing but the pitch black street illuminated by a handful of streetlamps like a sparkle of fireflies. After grabbing a dressing gown and a blanket, the teen fell asleep, still shivering.
Feeling his cloths drenched in sweat, Nathan placed his bare feet on the floor. After being on his feet for less than a second, his head began spinning and a queasy feeling developed in his stomach. Sitting back down, Nathan practically ripped his shirt off and grabbed his water bottle from his bedside table. After finishing his water, Nathan placed the empty bottle back and took deep breaths.
After remaining in the same position for around five minutes, Nathan convinced himself to stand up again. Slowly rising to his feet, Nathan closed his eyes when the dizziness returned. Remaining on his feet, Nathan slowly walked towards his wardrobe. Making it, Nathan dumped his soaking wet cloths on the floor and changed into shorts.
After slowly making his way back to bed and lying down, Nathan instantly closed his eyes, hoping for the rest of the night to be peaceful.
Waking up to the melody of birds chirping, Nathan rolled over and placed a pillow over his head to silence the creatures. After getting comfortable again, violent shivers erupted through him.
Reaching down to grab his blanket, Nathan's head ached. Pushing through Nathan the blanket and draped it over himself. After getting comfortable, Nathan closed his eyes again and let sleep take him over.
Forcing his eyes open with an annoying buzzing in his ear. Grabbing his phone and turning his alarm off, Nathan cursed his memory when he saw a text.
Mr. Smith 8:30
I'm guessing you're not coming into work today. That's alright, however, I'm going to have to give Mr. Watson your current client and get him to complete the order. I'm only doing this because I don't want to keep your client waiting. I hope you understand. Get better soon.
9:00
I completely understand. I should be back by Monday at the latest. I don't think I'll feel well enough to come in tomorrow.
Sending a text to Ryan, telling he wasn't going into work and asking the adult not the wake him up. After locking his phone and placing it on his bedside table, Nathan opened his water and drank over half of the bottle. Placing it back down, Nathan get comfortable again and fell back asleep.
Waking up, Nathan felt bile rising in his throat. Quickly rising from his bed, Nathan ignored the pounding of his head and made his was as fast as he could to the bathroom, fighting his urge to gag.
Just making it to the bathroom, Nathan dropped to his knees and puked into the toilet.
After puking bile for five minutes straight, Nathan flushed the toilet. After slowly rising to his feet, the previous day's dizziness instantly returned. With his vision worsening, Nathan pushed the lid of the toilet seat back down and sat down. Slowly massaging his temples, Nathan closed his eyes.
When the pounding in his head had decreased, Nathan slowly stood up. Relief filled his body when he discovered the dizziness had decreased.
Not sure if Ryan and Erin were still or not, Nathan decided on walking downstairs. Slowly making his way down, Nathan smiled when he heard Lucas's voice.
Quickening his pace, Nathan walked down the rest of the stairs and entered the kitchen. Sending a smile to Lucas when the teen turned around.
"You should be in bed," Lucas complained lightly. He placed Dylan's baby food on the counter and walked over to Nathan, opening his arms for Nathan.
"I was! I just wanted to know who was looking after Dylan," Nathan defended, accepting his crushed embrace.
"You know I'm here and he's safe. I promise. I take it you don't want to take any painkillers?" Lucas questioned, pulling away slightly to see Nathan's face.
Nathan just shook his head defiantly and forced his way back into Lucas's arms.
"I didn't think you would. Do you want anything to eat?" Lucas rubbed Nathan's back to comfort the younger teen.
"What's the point in eating if I'll just puke it, anyway?" Nathan mumbled. Lucas's jacket muffled his voice.
"You'll at least have something on your stomach," Lucas tried to convince. "I can make you some toast with nothing on it. You might keep it down," Lucas suggested, feeling the younger nod.
"You get back to bed. I feed Dylan than I'll get you your toast, yeah? Just message me if you need anything."
Pulling away from Lucas, Nathan gave the other teen a slight nod, his face pale as he walked back upstairs.
Getting back into bed, boredom soon settled in. Opening his phone, Nathan looked back at the message from his boss. He couldn't deny he felt a little disheartened by the news. He was so desperate to prove himself to his boss, and he just destroyed any chances he had of getting a promotion.
Closing his messages, Nathan wasted his time on mindless mobile games.
Nathan's attention was forced from his phone when he heard Lucas knock at his door, before entering a couple of seconds later.
"Here's your toast; sorry it took so long, Dylan was being picky," Lucas apologized, placing Nathan's toast on his bedside table.
"Thanks." Nathan picked up a slice and took a small bite.
"Nate. There's something we need to talk about," Lucas hesitatingly began, giving Nathan a hesitant look.
"What?" Nathan questioned as Lucas sat on the bed opposite him.
"Yesterday, when you fell asleep before I left, you said something. I just want to know if you meant what you said."
"What did I say?" Nathan questioned, confusion in his azure eyes as he placed his toast back on his plate.
"You said-" Lucas began hesitantly. "You said, 'I like you' before you fell asleep."
When Nathan heard those words come out of Lucas's mouth, his eyes widened and it felt as though his blood turned to ice.
Refusing to make eye contact, Nathan decided on admitting it, knowing it would come out, eventually.
"Yes, Lucas, I meant it. I understand if you don't feel the same, I-" Nathan was cut off by Luca's soft lips pressed against his own. After recovering from his shock, Nathan kissed back, smiling into the kiss.
Disconnecting their lips to take a breath, they shared a smile. With their eyes bright with happiness, the pair connected their lips again. Unlike their previous kiss, this one was filled with security and longing.
Breaking away again, the pair lay their foreheads together. Grins stretching the length of their faces.
"Your going to be ill now," Nathan mumbled lightly, pecking Lucas's lips.
"We'll be ill together. I'm sure we'll be able to look after Dylan together," Lucas responded confidently.
"What does this make us, Luke?" Nathan questioned, breaking the silence.
"Well... Nathan Black, will you do me the honor of becoming my boyfriend?" Lucas questioned, his grin still plastered on his face.
"I would love to," Nathan responded, bringing Lucas into a deep kiss.
