Plan
After breaking down in Lucas's arms after telling him about his past. Nathan couldn't deny it felt good to tell someone. Over the last two weeks, they struggled to find time together. It seemed their schedules always seemed to clash. Whenever Lucas was off from college, Nathan had work or college. The only positive part of the week for Nathan was seeing Dylan make progress in walking. Despite being only nine months old, the baby could walk around half the length of a room without falling.
Nathan was sitting at the table, his eyes glued to his phone. A forgotten bowl of cereal lay in front of him.
"It's going to go soggy if you don't eat it," Scarlett pointed out as she sat beside Nathan.
"I'm going to eat it in a minute," Nathan mumbled, not tearing his eyes away from his phone.
"Sure, Nate," Scarlett said doubtfully. "What are you doing, anyway?" She asked, attempting to look over Nathan's shoulder.
"I'm trying to understand what this customer wants. They aren't making any sense," Nathan complained as he ate.
"What don't you understand?" Scarlett questioned as she took a sip of her coffee.
"They want me to edit a part that I can't find in their work. I've emailed them and theirs just no response." Nathan slammed his spoon into his bowl.
"When did you email them?" Scarlett said hesitatingly.
"Two days ago. They want it done in a couple of days, but I can't do anything if the work isn't even there!" Nathan raged.
"They've probably emailed the wrong thing," Scarlett insisted.
"They better raise it if they have. I mean it. I'm tempted to email my boss and ask him what I should do," Nathan said, continuing to eat.
"Do it. It's not your fault they made a mistake."
"I will. Thanks Scar," Nathan nodded.
"Anytime. Well, I'm going to check on Dylan," Scarlett smiled as she stood up and left.
Deciding on emailing Mr. Smith later, Nathan pushed his phone to the side and continued eating his breakfast.
After finishing his cereal, Nathan still had three hours to kill before college. Having already got dressed, Nathan had no reason not to spend his time with Dylan.
Walking into the living room, Nathan couldn't wipe the smile off his face when he saw Dylan taking a step. Scarlett was too busy on her phone to acknowledge the other teen.
"Hi, Dylan," Nathan said, gaining the baby's attention.
Dylan squealed and started walking towards his father. The boy's attempt to speed up caused him to fall down.
"Dylan!" Nathan was by his son's side in an instant. He picked up the crying baby.
"He's alright," Nathan assured, sending Scarlett a comforting smile, seeing the panic in her eyes.
"Shh, it's okay, Dylan. I promise," Nathan whispered, rocking his son.
After rocking Dylan for around five minutes, the baby finally stopped crying. Unlatching in son's arms from his neck, Nathan stopped trying when Dylan placed his arms back around his father's neck.
"I take it you're coming with me?" Nathan questioned, tickling his son's side as he carried him towards the kitchen to get his phone.
Grabbing his phone from the table, Nathan struggled to unlock it with one hand. Deciding emailing would be hard with one hand, Nathan walked back into the living room.
"Distract him," Nathan hissed, sending Scarlett a pleading look, causing the former to take her eyes off her phone.
Scarlett picked up Dylan's bunny and walked towards the pair.
"What's this, Dylan?" Scarlett questioned, gaining the boy's attention.
Dylan unhooked his arms from his father's neck and reached out to grab his bunny. Hugging his toy close to him, Dylan didn't make a noise when Scarlett took him from his father's arms.
"Thanks," Nathan said and started walking to his room, knowing that Dylan wouldn't leave him alone if he stayed.
Nathan walked over to his bedside table and placed his phone on charge before sitting down at his desk and logging his laptop on.
Opening his emails, Nathan rolled his eyes when he saw there was no response from his client. Knowing he had no choice, Nathan emailed Mr. Smith and informed him of the situation and asked him what he should do.
Nathan spent the next two hours finishing his college work, so he wasn't behind. Nathan knew it wouldn't be good for him if he kept putting his school work off.
With Dylan napping, Nathan was thankful when he saw Lucas was calling him.
"Hey," Lucas greeted when Nathan answered.
"Hey Baby, I thought you were going to come over, did you have to go into college?" Nathan questioned.
"No, I've been forced to look after my siblings. Believe me I would rather be with you. I completely forgot to text you. Do you want to come over, I'm sure my parents wouldn't mind you brining Dylan?" Lucas questioned.
"I've got to college in like half an hour so I have to leave in like five minutes it I want to get there in time." Nathan answered, packing his bag.
"You passed your test three weeks ago, when are you getting a car?" Lucas questioned.
"I think I'm going to look tonight. I've been busy. I kind of want to get a motorbike, but I don't know if that'll be the best because of Dylan," Nathan admitted.
"Don't you have to take another test or something?" Lucas questioned.
"I have and I passed your dad pays me a lot of money," Nathan explained.
"Why didn't you tell me about that?" Lucas questioned.
"Well, I only started taking lessons about the weekend after you started dating and you've been stressed with college, I didn't want to give you something else to worry about," Nathan admitted.
"It wouldn't have made me more stressed, Babe. It doesn't matter, I'm proud of you. How about you come over after college? I take it someone's looking after Dylan?"
"I will, but you're picking me up. Scarlett's with me, she's looking after him. Well, she's supposed to be, I'm convinced she just lets him play by himself and stays on her phone."
"She probably does. I'll come pick you up, just text me."
"I will," Nathan answered, sending Scarlett a text telling her he was leaving and walking out of the door.
The couple kept talking until Nathan reached the college. Hanging up, Nathan placed his phone in his jacket pocket and walked inside. Looking forward to seeing Lucas again.
