Party

Nathan stormed into his room and slammed his fist against the white wall. Ignoring the pain that shot through him, Nathan continued to slam his fist into the covered brick. As rage burned through him, Nathan remembered the last time he felt that way. He remembered the blinding anger that forced him to forget everything. He remembered rising from his seat in a fit of rage and storming over to Erin. The next thing he remembered, he was being pulled away from her by Ryan. The elder's dark blue veins were obvious, even against the deep ruby red of his skin. Nathan remembered the dear that washed his anger away like a tsunami. Nathan remembered the following day, they shipped him off to another home, thinking he would ever look back.

Banshee like screaming broke the teen out of his mind. Dylan. Nathan hardly walked into his son's nursery to see the one-year-old sobbing.

Ignoring the agonising pain in his hand, Nathan grabbed his boy out of his cot, Nathan began slowly rocking the boy as his guilt ate him alive. After rocking Dylan for around five minutes, the teen carried the boy back into his room and placed him in the middle of his bed.

Holding his throbbing hand to his chest, Nathan sighed. Unsure of what was going to happen, Nathan lay down next to his son and pulled the boy to his chest, silently praying that he wouldn't be kicked out again.

Even though he had enough money to buy an apartment and Lucas would probably take him in, Nathan was still nervous. He couldn't say that he could get an apartment, surely not in such brief notice; despite being sure Lucas would take him in, Nahan didn't want to burden his boyfriend.

Hearing a light knock on his door, Nathan froze. Despite almost being an adult, he still felt the childish nerves crawl around inside of him.

"Come in," Nathan called lightly. He shifted so his bleeding hand wasn't in view.

Nathan's eyes were rooted to the door as it opened. His eyes instantly shifted to Ryan as the older man walked through the door.

"Do you want to tell me what happened down there" Ryan questioned, walking over and sitting beside the teen.

"I don't know. I just lost it," Nathan admitted, slowly moving his hand out of Ryan's view. His efforts were thankfully rewarded, as Ryan didn't notice.

"Let's get something straight, we both know why I kicked you out two years ago. You know I didn't want to do that, but you did something I can't forgive. Now, I understand your still a teenager, but you really need to stop acting like a child. Certainly shouting and getting angry for nothing. You have a child, Nathan, and I know he seems like an angel now, but he will do things that make you angry. I don't think you shouting like you've just done and punching a wall is going to calm him. Do you?" Ryan gently asked, revving a look of shock from the teen.

"How'd you know about that?" Nathan questioned, bringing his hand closer towards him.

"I followed you upstairs and shockingly, punching a wall with all of your strength makes quite a loud noise. Even if I didn't follow you, I'm pretty sure you could hear Dylan crying from downstairs. Now, give me your hand," Ryan gently ordered, holding his hand out.

"It doesn't even hurt! I'm fine," Nathan lied. He didn't even move his hand an inch.

"I'm glad it doesn't hurt; but I really want to check it out, okay?" Ryan questioned, patience lacing his tone.

"You don't have to do this, you know?" Nathan questioned, still refusing to give in.

"Do what? Care for you?" Ryan questioned, grabbing Nathan's hand and gently checking it out.

"Well, that as well. But, you don't have to keep me here, you know; It wouldn't be the first time I've been kicked out for losing it, right? I'll lose it again and you'll kick me out! This is just how things go, right? It'll happen. I'll lose my temper and get violent again! We both know it! I'm his son, right?! Of course I'm going to be like him!" Nathan shouted as tears leaked from his eyes like melted ice.

"Calm down, aright? Come on," Ryan comforted, rubbing Nathan's back.

Nathan continued crying, finally letting the walls he's built up for so long crumble slightly. The teen buried his head in his hands and sobbed.

"Dada" Nathan turned to his son as he felt his boy tug his shirt.

"Hey Buddy," Nathan whispered, straightening up and pulling his boy into his lap. "We'll be alright Dylan, yeah? You and me. No matter what," Nathan whispered, cradling his boy to his chest as he placed a kiss into his head.

Nathan just sat there and cried until there were no tears left to fall. Finally releasing his son from his grasp.

"Are you ready to talk?" Nathan turned to Ryan as the elder walked back into the room with a glass of water.

"Yeah," Nathan whispered, his voice was hoarse from crying.

Not risking his voice again, Nathan nodded in thanks and drained the cup of its continents as Ryan sat down.

"I didn't even know you left," Nathan admitted, placing the cup onto his nightstand, and placed his hand around his son, who hadn't moved an inch.

"So-" Ryan began, ignoring Nathan's comment. "We've gone over this countless times, Nathan. I will always regret kicking you out that day and I refuse to make that same mistake again, certainly now you need more help now. You are not your father, Nathan. Yes, you lost control, but do you honestly think I would've allowed you to come back, if I thought you hadn't changed? You're not him, Nathan, I can promise you that," Ryan assured.

"How do you know that? How do you know I won't get angry again? What if I take it out on Dylan?" Nathan questioned, tears quickly returning to his eyes.

"Because you're not your dad..You lost your temper and took it out the only way, you knew Nathan. You would never harm Dylan, certainly not on purpose. I can promise you that," Ryan said as a smile found its way onto his face.

"Promise?" Nathan tore his eyes away from his son and focused his attention to Ryan.

"Yes, I promise." Nathan smiled at Ryan and went back to admire his son.

"Well, why don't you put him back in his cot, and we'll do downstairs and sort out your hand. Hopefully, lunch won't be freezing by the time we get back," Ryan suggested, standing up.

Nathan nodded and picked Dylan up with his one good hand, the other laying limp at his side. Nathan had to ask Ryan for help to put Dylan comfortably into his cot.

After sorting Dylan out, Nathan and Ryan left the one-year-old to sleep until the others got there.

By the time they both got to the kitchen, Erin and Scarlett were almost finished. Following Ryan's order, Nathan sat down on one of the island stools, as the elder searched for some medicine.

Nathan sat there as Ryan took a box full of tablets out of the cupboard and started rifling through it.

After a couple of minutes, Ryan put everything had taken out, back into the box and the box in the cupboard before walking over with medicine and supplies.

"Show me your hand," Ryan ordered, placing the cotton wool balls and alcohol onto the countertop.

Nathan obeyed and prepared himself for the agony that he knew was going to take place. "On a scale of one to ten, how much do you think it'll hurt?" Nathan eyed the supplies as if they offended him.

"It depends on how well you take pain. It will hurt, but I'm not going to kill you." Ryan answered honestly, unskewing the top of the alcohol and dipping some into the Cotton wool ball.

"So, it's going to be really painful," Nathan mumbled, mostly to himself, as he tried to pull his hand out of Ryan's grip.

"You'll live."

Nathan winced as the alcohol coated cotton wool ball was draped gently across his wound.

Nathan just sat there and dealt with the pain. It was far from the worst he had experienced, but it still didn't make it any better.

After sitting for what felt like half an hour, but was really five minutes, Ryan finally released Nathan's hand.

"Let's get something to eat and forget about what's happened okay?" Ryan said, as Nathan stood up and followed him to the table.

After sitting down, Nathan instantly began eating, not caring about the cold food. Nathan had just about finished eating when his phone vibrated.

Pulling his phone out of his pocket, Nathan turned it on and smiled when he saw a text from Lucas.

Lucas, 12:33

Hey, babe. We're on our way, depending on traffic, we should be about half an hour. xx

12:34

Ok, see you then. Xx.

Nathan sent the text and locked his phone before putting it back into his pocket.

"I'm going to get Dylan up," Nathan announced, picking up his plate and placing it in the sink as he passed before going upstairs.

When Nathan reached Dylan's nursery, he walked up to his son's cot. Nathan ran his hand through his boy's hair, slightly suturing him.

"Hey, Dylan. Lulu is coming over soon!" Nathan said cheerfully, lifting his boy into his arms.

Nathan kissed the top of his boy's head as the boy continued to still slightly.

While his boy was waking up, Nathan placed Dylan onto his changing table and began undoing his baby growth. Changing his son, Nathan smiled as Dylan started babbling, now completely awake.

"Let's get you downstairs, yeah? I take it, I'm carrying you?" Nathan questioned, noticing his son hadn't started squirming by the time they reached the door.

Instead of babbling some incoherent nonsense, Dyan just cuddled into Nathan's shoulder again.

Nathan placed Dyan down the second time he got to the living room, thankfully, Dylan did what Nathan hoped for and busied himself with his toys.

It was only half an hour until Lucas and his family came. With Scarlett just having finished wrapping her presents five minutes before it was time for them to be opened. With the help of Nathan and Lucas, all the presents were swiftly opened.

Dylan had received a few toys from Erin and Ryan, with Zena and Jason going the same route and buying the one-year-old an expensive toy dog that talked and moved when certain buttons were pressed and walked alongside Dylan. Josh and Emily put their name on their parents' presents, of course.

Scarlett bought a variation of things, mainly toys and clothes, that didn't require any skillful wrapping.

Lucas surprised Nathan the most, like the others he bought some clothes and a couple of stuffed and small toys. He also bought a toy motorbike. It was small and, like the dog, made quite realistic noises if certain buttons were pressed, it required Dylan to do all the work when he was riding it. The £500 the toy cost was halved between Lucas and Nathan, the latter not wanting his boyfriend to spend that much money.

Nathan bought his son a toy monkey, and other small toys. Unlike the other expensive presents that were bought, Nathan could program the toy to say whatever he wanted, which he didn't doubt would help him at some point.

After the presents were open, everyone stayed for a couple of hours as Dylan was busy introducing all of his new toys to his bunny, who also received a new name "Hoppy" thanks to a suggestion from Emily.

Lucas stayed when it got late and the rest of his family were leaving, that's how the couple found themselves curled up on the couch with Dylan playing with all of his smaller toys, as the more expensive ones were in the boy's nursery and his bike outside in the garden.

With Scarlett having shut herself in her room and Ryan and Erin completing chores and getting ready for bed, it left them alone.

"Babe?" Lucas questioned, drawing the younger's attention away from his son.

"Yeah?" Nathan asked, sitting back and pressing a light kiss to his boyfriend's lips.

"Have you ever thought about moving out?"

"Not recently. Why?" Nathan sent his boyfriend a confused look.

"Just thinking about the future. Just wondering if you'd thought about moving out," Lucas explained, taking Nathan's hand is his.

"What, like move out together?" Nathan questioned, running his thumb across his boyfriend's knuckles.

"What else would I mean? Obviously were too young now. But I'm eighteen next month and you are in a couple of months, so do you want to think about moving in together?"

"Yeah, but, I just wasn't expecting you to bring it up, i guess. Are your parents getting on your nerves?" Nathan's concern was obvious in his voice.

"Not really... I don't know Nate. I just want my own space, you know?" Nathan smiled and brought Lucas's lips to his in a short but sweet kiss.

"Belive me, I know. I thought the same when I came back here. But It's nice not having to do everything yourself. Are you going to look for places soon?"

"I've spoken to my parents and they agree. I definitely starting looking soon. It's just if your going to be there with me, were probably going to need a house instead of an apartment."

"I've lived in an apartment before. We don't need a large anything, we just need out bedroom and Dylan's mercury and maybe another room that can be a playroom or office. We can focus on a bigger home when we have the money and need for one Babe," Nathan said gently.

"That sounds good! So what, by this time next year, we will live together." Lucas said, causing Nathan to smile in disbelief.

"That sounds mad," Nathan commented, leaning over and catching Lucas's lips in a long kiss. "What time is it?"

"Eight." Lucas responded, pecking Nathan's lips again.

"It's way past his bedtime," Nathan groaned, cursing under his breath before he stood up, walked over and picked Dylan up, who had Hoppy and his new stuffed cat in his arms.

"Bed time Little One," Nathan cooed, sending a smile to Lucas before carrying his boy upstairs. Dylan just snuggled into Nathan's shoulder,

Nathan took Dylan's toys out of his boy's hands as he opened the door to his son's nursery. He then placed the toys in Dylan's cot, before placing the boy onto his changing table. He then changed his boy and placed him into his cot and organised his toys, pulled the blankets up to his boy's chin and kissed his head before silently leaving the room.

Nathan headed back downstairs into the livingroom and lay in Lucas's arms, swiftly falling asleep to the sound of his boyfriend's heartbeat.
