Confessions

Two weeks had passed since Nathan confused his feelings for Lucas when he was off work sick. Since then, Dylan has passed eight-months old. Nathan still found it hard to believe how much had changed in those months. After returning to work, Nathan had continued his work, starting off with a new client. After working for countless hours both at work and home, Mr. Smith had decided Nathan didn't need his work checked anymore; something the teen enjoyed.

Nathan smiled as he leaned up and kissed Lucas's cheek, causing the older teen to open his eyes and look at Nathan in confusion.

"What was that for?" Lucas questioned, as Nathan settled into his boyfriend's arms.

"I didn't realize I needed a reason to kiss you," Nathan countered, lying on Lucas's chest.

"Of course you don't- "Lucas began, kissing Nathan's charcoal coloured hair. "I just thought you wanted something," Lucas admitted, drawing the blankets up to Nathan's chin; smiling when Nathan cuddled into him.

"I don't kiss you when I want something," Nathan defended sleepily.

"Sure, Nate... Are you tired?" Lucas mumbled, kissing Nathan's head once again. Earning a nod from the younger teen. "Alright, you get some sleep and I'll get Dylan sorted when he wakes up. If I'm not here when you wake up, you'll know why," Lucas continued getting a small nod in response before falling into a dreamless sleep.

Waking up to an empty bed surprised Nathan. Sitting up and placing his feet on his cold wooden floor, Nathan shivered lightly and placed his slippers onto his feet. Grabbing his phone off of his bedside table and standing up, Nathan grabbed his dressing gown off of his chair and put it on.

Walking downstairs, Nathan smiled when he heard Lucas's voice. Walking into the living room, Nathan's smile widened when he saw Lucas playing with Dylan. Lucas was on his knees, encouraging the baby to crawl towards him.

"Good Boy!" Lucas cheered, lifting Dylan into his arms, with a bright smile on the former's face.

"I feel like I've missed something," Nathan said, announcing his presence, causing Lucas to jump and Dylan to squeal and wiggle.

"Hey Dylan." Nathan smiled and placed his phone on the armrest of the couch and took his eight-month-old into his arms.

"Hey Baby," Nathan smiled, kissing Lucas's cheek.

"Hey, did you have a good nap?" Lucas questioned, kissing Nathan on the lips.

"Yeah. How long have I been asleep?" Nathan questions, bouncing Dylan on his hip.

"About three hours. I've been up for an hour, Dylan woke up and started crying; he's been fed and changed and we've been playing the same game for two hours; I really don't know how he still finds it amusing," Lucas admitted.

"He's amused for hours by a toy making the same sound. Believe me, it's one of most normal things he's amused by," Nathan explained, chuckling lightly.

"Why am I not surprised?" Lucas questioned as Nathan placed Dylan back on the ground. They both watched as Dylan crawled over to his toys.

"So, what have I missed?" Nathan questioned.

"Dylan tried to stand up, he's able to stand for a couple of seconds but that's about it," Lucas smiled.

"Really?" The disbelief in Nathan's tone caused Lucas to smile.

"I'm going to have to before Ryan comes back," Lucas explained as they sat on the couch while Dylan picked up some toys.

"You have college don't you?" Nathan questioned quietly.

"Unfortunately. I still have a couple of hours though," Lucas assumed, lifting his arm so Nathan can cuddle him.

The pair decided on watching some Tv, keeping their eyes on Dylan, who was happily playing with some toys.

"Nate," Lucas whispered, getting the younger man's attention.

Following Lucas's gaze, Nathan smiled when he saw Dylan attempt to stand up.

Nathan got out of Lucas's arms and walked over to help Dylan stay on his feet, with Lucas encouraging the baby.

After around twenty minutes of trying, Dylan had managed to walk wobbly to Lucas, even though the teen had moved forward to help the baby. Grabbing Dylan's arms, helping the baby remain on his feet, Lucas smiled at the boy and took a step with Dylan. Dylan's next step caused him to stumble. Noticing this, Lucas went on his knees and brought the boy into his arms when he fell.

A couple of falls later, Dylan could take a couple of steps without stumbling. Around ten minutes later, taking a couple of steps towards his son, Nathan lowered himself onto his knees and started encouraging the baby.

Around ten minutes later, Dylan could take around four steps without Lucas's help, however, the teen still remained behind the boy in case Dylan fell.

Smiling with pride, Nathan continued to encourage his son for around twenty minutes until Dylan sat in the middle of the floor as tears fell from his emerald eyes.

"What's wrong, Dylan?" Nathan questioned, walking towards his son and picking the crying boy.

"He's probably just tired, Babe. Walking probably took a lot of energy out of him," Lucas explained, walking towards the father and son.

"Probably. I'll just put him to bed; can you turn the baby monitor on please?" Nathan asked, kissing Lucas's cheek and carrying Dylan to his nursery, not wanting the tv to disturb the boys' sleep.

Pacing his son in his cot, Nathan covered the blankets securely around his son, running his hand through his son's ink coloured hair as the baby fell asleep.

"Have a good nap," Nathan whispered, kissing his son's head before walking out of the room and closing the door quietly behind him.

Walking back into the living room, Nathan smiled when he saw Lucas watching tv.

"Hey Baby." Lucas kissed Nathan as the younger teen sat down.

"Luke... I need to talk to you-" Nathan began, breaking their eye contact.

"Alright," Lucas replied gently, taking his attention off Nathan so he can grav the tv remote and turn it off.

"Do you know how I told you I wasn't ready to explain why I came into foster care or anything about my past, when he had our anniversary?" Nathan questioned, still keeping his eyes on his lap.

"Yes. If you're not ready to tell me, then don't. I don't want to pressure you into anything," Lucas assured, taking Nathan's hand in his.

"No. I want to tell you. Just promise you'll let me talk, okay?" Nathan questioned.

"You know I will," Lucas promised.

"Erm... Well, I don't know where to start... What do you want to know?" Nathan mumbled

"How about, why you went into care? Only if you want to," Lucas quickly added, not wanting to pressure Nathan.

"Erm, yeah, I can tell you that," Nathan confirmed. He took a deep breath before he started talking.

"Well, my parents never got along when I was younger," Nathan began, lifting his eyes to meet Lucas's emerald eyes.

"They would always argue, like a lot. My earliest memory was my dad sapping my mom. Anyway, every night, my parents would argue. At first they only did it when they thought I was asleep, but that changed to the point when they couldn't even be in the same room. There was one time when I was like six, my mum picked me up from school and had another man in the car. She dropped his off somewhere and drove me home. Before I went inside, she threatened me, telling me if I told my dad, he'd get him to beat me for lying," Nathan closed his eyes as the memories resurfaced, not even trying to prevent the tears from falling.

"You don't have to continue if you don't want to," Lucas reminded, as he placed his fingers under Nathan's chin and forced the younger to look at him.

"No, it's fine," Nathan insisted, sending Lucas a forced smile before continuing. "Anyway, I didn't tell him. Eventually my mum got pregnant again, and she started taking them pills that help with symptoms. Dad was so exited, I've never seen him that caring and happy. Dyeing childbirth, something went wrong, and I lost my sister," Nathan released a sob.

"I'm fine," Nathan insisted, seeing Lucas's look of concern. "Erm.. My dad got worse, he drank every night and became abusive. He blamed me for my mother belong stressed during pregnancy and blamed her for losing his child. When I was eight, they got a divorce and got joint custody. My mum was too afraid to tell anyone about the abuse, so he continued. My mum started taking pills and eventually got addicted. My dad wasn't much better, he drank a lot and took his emotions out on me. One of my teachers saw my burses and asked about them when I was thirteen. I broke down and told him everything. That night there was a knock on the door. It was social services. OI was taking into my bedroom and asked to tell them what I was going through. They took me away and into a foster home while my dad was arrested," Nathan explained, barely able to form eligible sentences.

"Take a break alright?" Lucas ordered, bringing Nathan into his arms to kiss his head.

After being held on Lucas's arms for around ten minutes before he calmed down.

"Thanks," Nathan smiled, kissing Lucas before continuing. "I was fifteen when I came here. I was still seeing my mum, but she was in rehab. A week after my mum had gotten out of rehab, so I would have been here for a couple of months, Ryan got a call. He picked me up from school and told me she had overdosed. I was so sad I didn't talk to anyone until weeks after her funeral. One day, Erin asked me about my mum and I just lost it I hit her just as Ryan walked in. He was so angry, he screamed ay me to go to my room. He came upstairs around half an hour later and told me to pack my bags because my social working was on his way. Being kicked out had never hurt so much," Nathan cried.

"It's alright," Lucas whispered, drawing his sobbing boyfriend into his arms. "I think that's enough story time for today." Lucas kissed Nathan's head, still trying to comprehend what Nathan had told him.

Emotionally exhausted, Nathan cried himself to sleep in the strong arms of his boyfriend.
