Aru was hungry. Really hungry. But she wasn't even allowed in the kitchen. She resented that.

Aru's mom was currently cooking elaborate dishes - that smelled really good - for the Thanksgiving feast later that evening at Mini's house. It was presently 4:30 pm, and all the Potatoes, as well as Aiden's, Aru's, and Mini's moms would be converging around 5:15. Nikita and Sheela were alternately living with each of the Pandava sisters for a couple days at a time, and right now they were at Mini's house, helping set up for the feast.

Aru was really excited. She was also extremely hungry. She hadn't eaten anything since lunch, because her mom had insisted that she needed to "save room" for the feast. Since her normal day consisted of approximately nine meals a day, with regular snacks in between, her stomach was protesting loudly.

Aru was sitting on her bed, staring out the window. She was wearing a pair of light jeans with a dark blue sweater over a light mint-green tee, and she had absolutely nothing to do. Her mom completely refused to let Aru go anywhere near the food, let alone help make it. She had no homework, because she was on Thanksgiving break... maybe she could go over to Mini's house and help with the setup.

She got to her feet and walked downstairs to the living room, right outside the kitchen.

"Mom?" Aru yelled.

"Yes?" Her mom called back.

"Could I go to Mini's and help her set the table?"

"Sure, honey. I'll see you there."

"Thanks."

Aru grabbed her phone and Vajra (which turned into a warmly glowing bracelet), went over to Greg the elephant statue, opened his mouth, and stepped through the doorway onto Mini's driveway. 

As it says in the description, this is my first time writing for an audience, so I apologize (again) if my writing is really cruddy. I would immensely appreciate any advice on writing or story format, and I ask that you please tell me if I could do anything better. Thank you so much for reading! I know this part was reeeeeaaaallly boring, but I'll try to make the coming parts less so. Thank you again :)
