The End

Hope you enjoyed this story! It was a blast to write.

Fun facts about the book:

-The Forest Kalivana was originally going to be the Forest Nalakuvara, named after either a king or kingdom in Hindu mythology. I changed it after deciding on Kali as the main villain.

-I wrote a lot of this while at school, on break.

-This is the first full-length book I've finished in a very long time.

-There are a lot of references to a lot of things (mainly Rick Riordan books) hidden in all of the chapters. Here's one from each...

Chapter 1: "Okay, unless it was the fun sort of trouble, like pranking Brynne. That she didn't have a single problem with." Reference to "That Damn Closet" an Ariden oneshot I've written.

2: "Easy, a part of her brain answered. Hit it with Vajra until it dies." Reference to a scene in The Kane Chronicles, where Horus tells Carter to smack his enemies with a sword until they're dead (Also, has anyone else noticed that both Horus and Boo take the form of pigeons?).

3: "Aru didn't have the heart to tell her that the world might end in a week." Reference to a line in Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, where Samirah says she didn't have the heart to tell her grandparents that the world might be ending that evening.

4: the fact that Kali's presence inspires violence and anger is a reference to Ares in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, where Percy notes that just being near Ares makes him want to punch something.

5: Sanemi giving up all claim to the Otherworld mirrors Malini Acharya's decision to do the same.

6: the ancient dead languages reference other types of mythology and cultures, including Greek, Norse, and Roman

7: the dragon's impenetrable skin is a reference to the Nemean Lion, a monster from Greek Mythology

8: the nagini's extended s's are a reference to the 'stereotype' of snake speech that Martha complains about in Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters

9: the blowgun tranquilizer darts that the rakshasha uses are reference to the kakamora's weapons in Disney's Moana. They probably don't have fuzzy pink tips though, which might explain why they're so grumpy.

10: "Aru felt a tingling of uneasiness down her spine, like someone was dripping cold water down her shirt." Reference to the Mark of Athena, where Annabeth feels like a snowman is breathing on her neck.

11: "We're All Going to Die" the title is reference to the classic line of Mrs. Packard in Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire

12: "We were playing with a bag of dominoes and chatting while the adults did... adult stuff." The dominoes are reference to the last time Magnus saw Annabeth when they were kids, as Annabeth was using them as building blocks.

13: "I wasn't going to die without doing that." Reference to when Alex kissed Magnus in the middle of Niflheim

14: Brynne trying to pick up Kali's trident is reference to in MCGA book 2, in which Halfborn tries to pick up Mjölnir (and fails miserably).

15: "One Last Glimpse of the Sun" is reference to MCGA book 3 and the giantess Gunlod.

16: Sanemi and the apsara performers are reference to Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, where Esmeralda does similarly at the Festival of Fools.

Q&A:

Q-How do you plan out the chapters?
A- I have a rough outline when I start the book, and then I mostly wing it. I get spontaneous ideas from the most random places (like Safeway) and just go from there.

Q- How do you write such good descriptions?
A- When I'm reading, I like to envision the scenes as if I'm watching a movie, and detailed descriptions really help with that. Creating a vivid mental image is, in my opinion, something every writer should strive to do. Basically, I envision how I want the scene to look, then write down everything I see in my mind's eye.

Thanks for reading! If you have any more questions, feel free to comment and I'll answer as soon as I can.
