The cold cell

Hello again! I was excited about this and though it was supposed to be a side project, it has quickly turned into one of my favourites. So I released another chapter so soon.

I have decided that there will be no romance in this story. At least not with the Bad Batch. This story will be about exploring the darkness of the inhibitor chip and their journey into friendship. I haven't decided yet if she's gonna have a thing with someone else...

~Amita~

Echo wasn't snoring. Finally! I was getting so sick and tired of it.

I didn't hear him breathing either.

Oh force, did I smother him in my sleep?

I sat up, quickly regretting it when things started to spin. I clutched at my head groaning softly to myself.

Now to check that I didn't kill Echo in his sleep.

I looked around the room, not recognizing my surroundings. Echo wasn't sleeping across the room. Rex wasn't sleeping on the couch. The walls were cold and made of a black metal.

"Hello?" I called out. "Is this another one of your stupid pranks? I told you Fives was better at it Echo."

There was no response, and I was starting to recall what had happened at the bunker.

"Kriffing di'kuts," I cursed, remembering those strange men.

I stood up and looked around the room, trying to figure out where I was. There was a door, so I walked up to it and tried to open it, only to find it locked.

"Haar'chak," I angrily muttered. "I'm a stupid prisoner now."

I crossed my arms and sat in the middle of the room, waiting for whoever would come in to check on me. However, to my surprise, no one came. I was just left sitting on the cold floor.

I groaned and threw myself on the floor, spreading out my limbs. This was so mind numbingly mundane.

"Can someone come and torture me or something?" I yelled at the door. "This is boring."

No response.

I felt a bit of amusement from whoever was out there though.

"You think this is funny?" I shouted. "I had muffins to go home to! Chocolate muffins!"

Still nothing.

"Kriff you!" I finally admitted defeat and went back to laying on the floor.

Days went by of nothing. I didn't even now who was out there.

Weeks went by of me sitting there, no one to talk to.

Months went b-

"Hello Mercy," Someone finally broke me from my thoughts.

I looked up to see a stormtrooper and that long haired man from at the base. I stood up quickly and glared at them.

"You left me here for so long!" I complained.

"You were only awake for five minutes," The long haired man squinted at me.

I scowled at him. "That's too long."

He rolled his eyes and turned to the stormtrooper. They started talking quietly for a little while before they faced me again.

"He tells me you were screaming threats," Long haired dude said.

"Yup," I nodded.

"And something about chocolate muffins," He said.

I nodded again. "He's telling the truth Harry."

"Harry?" Harry frowned, staring at me in confusion.

I pointed at his hair. "Because you have great hair. Unlike that other dude with the goggles."

Harry snorted. "Come on Mercy."

"How'd you know I'm Mercy?" I furrowed my brow.

"We've been hearing about someone named Mercy for long time now. We were assigned to bring them in for interrogation. We laid out a trap at the rebel base on Endor," Hunter said. "We sent out a distress call after getting rid of the rebels there, knowing you'd come."

He held out a set of binders and I reluctantly put my wrists in them. He led me out of my cell and I got a glimpse of where I had been taken.

It was an imperial base.

Stormtroopers walked everywhere. There were a few clone troopers as well, but the stormtroopers out numbered them by far. I could see mountains and forests outside the windows, and I starting plotting an escape plan.

"Where we going?" I casually asked, jogging to catch up with Harry.

"You said you wanted to be tortured," Harry grinned at me. "We're going to interrogation."

I stopped walking. "I changed my mind."

Harry laughed and grabbed me by the binders tugging me along. I sighed and followed him, sensing amusement coming of him.

"This is it," Harry said as we stood in front of a door. "Prepare yourself for the horrors that are in there."

I shot him an unamused look, to which he smiled again and hit the burn on the wall, opening the door. I peered inside hesitantly.

"Hey! This isn't a torture room!" I whipped around to face him. "It's just another cell!"

"So observant," Harry pushed me into the room and closed the door behind us.

I huffed and looked around, seeing goggles man.

"Hi!" I waved at him with my cuffed hands. "Are you gonna fix that haircut?"

"Sorry?" Goggles frowned at me and looked to Harry. "I do not understand.

"Sit down Mercy," Harry pointed to a table with three chairs around it.

I rolled my eyes, but did as I was told and sat on one of the chairs. Harry and Goggles sat down too.

"My name is Hunter and this is Tech," Harry said and motioned to Goggles. "We'll be getting some information from you."

"Nope," I shook my head. "At least not without me getting something in return."

"We're not letting you go," Hunter dryly said.

I stuck my tongue out at him. "That's not what I was gonna ask for."

"Then what?" Hunter propped his feet up on the table.

"Every time I answer a question, you have to answer a question of mine," I negotiated.

"Deal," Hunter nodded.

I gazed at Tech who was still staring at his datapad. "Why's he here?"

"No reason," Hunter breezily said, arousing my suspicions.

"Ask away then," I smiled.

"Who are you?" Hunter asked.

"I'm called Mercy. I work for the rebels," I answered, knowing he knew all that already. "Who are you?"

"I'm called Hunter. I work for the empire," Hunter lazily grinned at me. "Where's Saw Gerrera currently at?"

"A planet," I narrowed my eyes at him. "Where are we?"

"A planet," Hunter quickly glanced at Tech, who made a discrete hand signal I barely missed. "I could do this all day Mercy."

"What was that?" I motioned at Tech's hand.

"Nothing," Hunter brushed my question off. "Where is Saw Gerrera?"

"You asked me that already," I fidgeted with my binders.

Hunter sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "Mercy, you're going to have to answer better."

Tech suddenly looked up and narrowed his eyes at me before going back to his datapad and muttering under his breath.

"Can he go elsewhere?" I whispered to Hunter, giving Tech a wide eyed look of fear. "He's scaring me."

"No."

"Come on," I pleaded.

"No."

"You're the worst," I muttered.

"Well I am your aru'e," Hunter casually said a bit of Mando'a.

"Even so, you could be a bit more understanding," I glared at him, not realizing I had walked into a trap.

Hunter exchanged a look with Tech before looking back at me. "How do you know Mando'a?"

Kriff.

"I don't know what that is," I lied.

"You're lying," Hunter immediately said.

I turned my nose up at him. "No I'm not."

"Yes you are. Your heartbeat increased when you said that," Hunter said.

I raised my eyebrows at him, a million thoughts running through my head. One of them was trying to figure out how he knew my heartbeat. Another was trying to lie my way out of this. A different part of me was wondering if they gave chocolate muffins to prisoners.

"Tech," Hunter addressed the goggled clone. "Search the Kaminoan database for female clones."

"Wait you guys have access to the Kaminoan database?" I inquired.

Tech gave me a proud look. "Yes. We are not supposed to have clearance to it, but I hacked int the mainframe before I could walk."

"That seems highly unlikely," I stared at him doubtfully.

"I am a gifted individual," Tech boasted and adjusted his goggles, his brown eyes moving back to his datapad.

Brown... eyes...

I've seen those eyes before.

On millions of men, fighting side by side with me.

"You're clones?" I blurted out.

"You're a clone?" Tech looked up at me in surprise, showing Hunter his datapad.

"Nice to meet you Amita," Hunter grinned at me. "Looks like we're finally getting somewhere."

"Karabast," I cursed.

"FCT-0508," Tech read aloud. "Aka, Amita. An enhanced female clone assigned to the 501st, presumed dead with the rest of them after the ship went down."

"Looks like we'll have to update her file," Hunter's eyes flicked over the datapad.

I slouched in my chair, all my secrets in that file they were looking at. At least I'd escape soon.

"What's the enhancement?" Hunter questioned.

"An increase in the hormones oxytocin and Vasopressin," Tech hummed, impressed with the Kaminoan's work.

"Basic please," Hunter requested.

"Those are the hormones linked to empathy and sympathy," Tech explained. "She has a very advanced way of telling what people are thinking."

"What about you two?" I leaned on the table with my cuffed hands. "You're obviously enhanced as well."

"It is obvious that I am extremely intelligent," Tech tilted his head at me. "Could you not tell that?"

"I was mostly asking about Hunter," I laughed, as indignant waves came off Tech.

"Enhanced senses," Hunter briefly explained what his deal was for me, while Tech read more about me from my file.

"Our superiors will want to hear about this," Hunter gestured to the datapad and escorted me back to my cell.

So I was sitting in my cell again.

Great.
