I am a Coai shipper, as you may have noticed, and there's a special headcanon of them that I created and love.

You see, they are bound by a promess, Conan shall protect her no matter the cost, and Ai will not try to die again. This is a special promise ( kinda Canon, actually) that are represented in two bullets.

The bullet Haibara carries is one that Conan received instead of her, trying to save her.

The bullet Conan carries is one that Ai received instead of him, getting to save him.

They never get rid of their necklaces, since they represent a promise.

To Conan, that bullet represents her promise.

To Haibara, that bullet represents his promise.

It's a bond.
