meeting

I sighed as i walked into the train. I didn't like Gotham much. It was cold and run down. Businesses were closing left and right. People here were getting crazier and stuff was getting harder. I worked at a small record shop down town. People didn't have much money for records anymore.
I sat at the end of the train hoping i would be alone. Until a man walked in. He was middle age. Brown hair and blue grey eyes. His posture was awkward as he sat down and tapped his leg softly. That's when another man walked in. I started tapping my hand softly. As the new man walked in. He was very tall and was clearly a well dressed wall street man.
"How are you hot stuff?" He grumbles with a wink and i look away and put my head down. I felt myself get grabbed and pushed into the wal. I groaned as the sharp paint hit my back. This wasn't knew. It's a everyday thing for me.
"Its rude not to respond when someone asks you a question." He huffs his eyes steaming. I looked at the clown man as he stood up looking as if he felt bad till he broke out in laughter and fell to the floor. I sighed and looked down. He probably thought i was a wimp.
"Y-Yes sir." I whisper and the man throws me to the ground and looks to the clown.
"What the fuck are you laughing at punk?" He huffs. The man almost looked in pain as he laughed. He shook his hand No and took out a card and dropped it as he grabbed his mouth laughing more.
I read the small card stating what he had and i felt horrible for judging him. The guy in the car snached the card from me and read it then tore it in half, throwing it to the ground.
"Freak?" He mumbles and walks out. I pick up the ripped card as the man stops laughing.
"I-Im so sorry I couldn't help. It just starts randomly ya know..?" He whispers and looks down. I nod and reach into the small bag on the seat i was once in and take out some tape and tape his card back together. I then hand it to him "im sorry i let him take your card. But i uh... I fixed it the best i could." I say and give it to him. He puts it in his pocket with a soft smile.
"Its ok. People in this town are just pricks." He says with a sigh.
"Yeah talk about it. I practically sit at a desk all day and the ones that do come in are snobs that are rude." I sigh and look down.
"Where do you work?" He asks with a hum.
"A record store called Music city. I enjoy it a lot. Music is like a filter for me sometimes." I smile and he nods and smiles back.
"That's not far from my place. Maybe i can stop by one day." He stands up and reaches his hand down for me to take. I softly grab his hand and stand up.
"Thanks." I sit down and he moves closer so he's sitting in front of me.
"My names Arthur by the way." He smiles.
"Im y/n. Soo...what do you do for a liven then?" I ask him and his eyes sparkle.
"Im a clown! I work at Haha's. My mother always said im here to make people smile." He grins and i smile.
"That's so cute. Do you live with your mom?" I ask and he nods.
"People think its funny but i just take care of her. Shes old. Im the man of the house. I always have been." He says and i nod.
"Yeah i just take care of myself. I've been alone most of my life so I've got used to being alone." I shrug and he frowns.
"You don't have anyone? Family? Boyfriend?" He asks and i nod.
"Stuff happens." I look down and he clearly felt bad for mentioning the subject.
"Im so sorry... I um.. I only have my mom... I understand being alone." He reaches across to give my hand a soft squeeze. I nod.
"Thank you Arthur." I smile and he nods.
I yawn and look at the small tv in the bus. It was showing the new rat problem and about how trashy the city was becoming.
"Is it just me or is it getting crazier out there?" He asks randomly.
"No its everyone. I just wish i lived in a better place where there were more people like you." I say which makes him smile happily.
"Same goes to you." He says and looks back to the tv. That's when Mr. Wayne came on tv. I sighed.
"He's not gonna do anything. Its all the same old bullshit. They cant make people change." I say and Arthur laughs.
"They have no reason. They think people like us mean nothing. I thought that guy was about to hurt you. I tried so hard to stop laughing. I just wanted to help but its so hard." He looks down shaking his head.
The bus then stopped at our stop "Its not your fault Arthur. You tried and That's what matters. We get off at the same stop and start walking twords our apartment building.
"You live here to?" I ask and he nods. "I've never seen you. Were probably on different floors." When we walk in he checks his mail and so do i. All i had was bills. I look down at the sad number of 300. That's my weeks pay. How would i buy food.
I sigh as we get into the elevator. I click floor 7 and he clicks 8.
"No wonder i haven't seen you. Anyways see you later Arthur." He smiles and i wave a tiny wave and go to my apartment. I close the door and sink onto the couch and hiss at the pain in my back.
I hoped i would see Arthur again. He was so nice. It felt nice to hold a conversation.
I just wish i could see people like him more in this world.
