Gotham's Most Wanted - Part 1 - Joker x Reader

Ok, so this is a challenge given to me by EarthAngelGirl20 (who is a brilliant writer, and I highly recommend you read her work). I love the idea and I hope this first part does it justice.

This imagine is set in the 1930s and Joker is a John Dillingeresque, classic American gangster of that time period.

Warnings: Thoughts of smut, and some language.

The bank manager was out of his office as soon as he saw the woman walk in. Both she and her brother were the most important account holders that the Gotham National Bank had, and there was always a little pomp and ceremony when either of them made an appearance.

"Good morning Ms. Wayne, such an honour to see you again." The manager said as he showed the young woman to his office.

"Hilary, some tea for Ms. Wayne please." The man called out to his assistant as he closed the door behind him.

"Now, Ms. Wayne, to what do we owe the pleasure of your visit?"

She inwardly rolled her eyes; whenever Thomas or herself set foot into the bank, Mr. Hughes, the manager, would fawn all over them. She knew it was all fake, as long as the Wayne family fortune stayed in his vaults, he was happy, and he would do whatever it took to keep it there.

"Well Mr. Hughes, Thomas has asked me to come and transfer some funds so that we can purchase a property that has just come on the market."

As the conversation in the office continued, little did anyone in the bank or outside know that across the street sat a Model A Ford, whose passengers had been watching the bank for some time, waiting for the moment when it would be the best time to strike.

Today was the day that the bank received its weekly cash delivery, and that on top of whatever was already in the vault, meant the haul could prove to be substantial.

In the back seat of the car sat a man, his red suit concealed under a large black trench coat; his face hidden by an equally black fedora. For one final time he checked his Tommy gun, as wisps of smoke came from the cigarette that hung from his lips, choking the other occupants of the car.

"Boss, the delivery should be here any minute, and I've seen about ten people go into the bank, so it should be pretty quiet."

The man in the back seat looked at the others in the car, his infamous makeup now on show.

"Good. Now remember the plan. Mac you hit the tellers, John and George you grab the bag man, and Mickey you're with me; we get the manager and force him to open the vault. Bill, you stay outside and keep an eye out for the cops. In and out in four minutes, I want a clean job, nothing messy left behind."

Joker and his gang had already hit five banks in as many months, but today's job would be the biggest. Joker had been planning this heist for months; he had thought about every possible outcome, down to the finest detail.

The Wayne family fortune was in that bank, and Joker wanted every last cent of it. He wanted the Wayne's to know what it was like to be poor, to wonder where the next meal was coming from; to wonder where the next week's rent was coming from so that they could keep a roof over their heads. He wanted to bring the mighty Wayne family to its knees, and today would be the start of the process.

"Boss, look." Mac said from the driver's seat.

Joker looked out onto the damp Gotham streets, streets that up until a short while ago had been his home, the source of his livelihood, and his his life; and now he watched the nervous delivery man make his way from his truck up the stairs of the bank.

Joker exited the car, hiding his gun under his long coat as the rest of the gang pulled down their clown masks over their faces, hiding them under their large hats until the time was right.

The six men cautiously made their way to the steep steps of the bank, taking one last look at one another before the countdown began.

Pushing through the doors of the bank, Joker made their presence known.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is a holdup. And I, well I am Joker." He said, taking off his hat to reveal his painted face, much to the horror of the shocked customers.

"If you will all be so kind as to raise your hands above your heads, my colleagues and I will gone before you know it." Joker said, waving around the newly revealed Tommy gun.

As the rest of the boys set about their jobs, Joker and Mickey made their way to the office.

The manger looked out onto the scene in shock. "Ms. Wayne, may I suggest that you hide, quickly." Hughes said over his shoulder, his eyes growing wider as Joker and his boy, made their way to his office.

"Mr, Hughes, I can assure you that I have no intention of hiding; I am not scared of Joker or his gang. He is merely a criminal like any other in this city, and sooner or later the GCPD or the federal agents will capture him and lock him up in Arkham where he belongs."

The door suddenly flew open, revealing a grinning Joker leaning against the door frame. "Well, well, well, what do we have here? Mickey! Take the manager and make him open the vault; I have something to discuss with this beautiful young lady here."

Hughes stepped in front of her. "You are not discussing anything with Ms. Wayne."

Joker's eyes darted back to the woman. "Wayne? As in the Wayne? As in Thomas Wayne?" He asked angrily.

"Yes!" She said defiantly.

"I am (Y/n) Wayne, and Thomas is my older brother."

Before Joker could say another word, the alarm was tripped, and the deafening bell rang throughout the building.

"Shit boss, we gotta go. The GCPD are just around the corner, we can't let you get caught." Mickey said as he tried to grab Joker and pull him away.

Joker yanked his arm back. "If the cops are gonna be here, we are gonna need some leverage in case something goes wrong, and I have the perfect candidate."

Joker pushed passed Hughes, grabbing hold of (Y/n) and pulling her towards him.

"You're coming with me bitch. Consider yourself my human shield." Joker said as he dragged her from the office.

"Er boss....... we really need to go!" Bill called out as he rushed inside, the wail of police sirens getting louder as precious seconds ticked by.

Joker made for the doors dragging his newly found prize with him as Bill gave his boss a quizzical look.

"She's Thomas Wayne's sister, the cops won't dare shoot if they think they might hurt her." Joker explained as the gang exited the bank.

As they rushed across the street to get back to the car, the sound of screeching tyres filled the air as the GCPD pulled up. Joker pulled (Y/n) right in front of him, one hand firmly around her throat the other on the trigger of his gun as he pointed at her head.

"Looks like you're gonna come in handy after all." Joker hissed into her ear.

"JOKER!" A voice called out over a megaphone, the voice cutting through the cacophony of noises that now filled the air.

The gang stopped in the middle of the street, only feet away from the car, their only possible hope of escaping capture.

"PUT DOWN YOUR GUNS AND SURRENDER!" The voice called again.

A loud laugh came from Joker as he held his hostage tighter.

"I don't think so Detective Burke, do you see who I have here? This is Thomas Wayne's little sister and if you don't all back up, I will take great delight in putting a bullet through her beautiful little head." Joker couldn't help but smirk, he knew that there was no way that the police could do anything but let them go; Wayne's were good for something after all.

"You do know that I'm going to make sure that you are locked up in Arkham for the rest of your pathetic life for this don't you?" (Y/n) hissed into Jokers ear as his face drew closer to hers.

Joker chuckled in her ear. "Such harsh words; you know I can think of much better things that you could be doing with that pretty little mouth of yours, don't you?"

Her head turned slightly so that her eyes were glaring right into his. "I can assure you that if that thing comes anywhere near my mouth, I will bite it off." She growled.

Joker laughed; this time loud enough for all to hear. "Well it's obvious who has the balls in the family." He joked as he dragged her backwards to the car.

"Now Detective Burke, me and the boys here are going to get in our car and drive away, and you ain't gonna do anything but let us go."

A silence fell over the scene as the detectives talked in hushed tones.

"Ok Joker, just release Ms. Wayne we'll let you go." Detective Burke called out.

"If you think I'm gonna release my ace card, you're dumber than you look Burke. Now, the seven if us are going to get in this car and drive away; if I see one cop, one cop car, you will have a very pretty corpse on your hands and a lot of explaining to do to Thomas Wayne about how you got his little sister killed." Joker said as he pulled (Y/n) into the car, the rest of the boys following.

Within an instant, the engine of the Model A was fired up and racing through the streets of Gotham. Joker looked through the rear window, not a cop in sight; he couldn't help but smile to himself. It was true that his plan hadn't worked out as he had expected, but he now had a Wayne, Thomas's little sister no less; if he played this just right he could get a big pay day, and hurt Thomas Wayne at the same time.

He turned back around and was finally able to get a good look at the woman that he held tightly on his lap. To say she was beautiful would be doing her an injustice; her dark hair was cut short in the latest style, and her eyes, which were the same colour as smoky green jade, hide a fire that intrigued him. Even though she was dressed and presented well, her persona didn't scream spoilt little rich girl, in fact she seemed to be quite the opposite.

It was obvious that she wasn't scared of him, or his reputation; she had stood up for herself in and outside the bank, not backing down to his threats or innuendos. And now, despite the fact that she was in a speeding car surrounded by six of the most dangerous men in Gotham, she was still struggling and had in fact even been able to punch John in the face when his hand had made its way to her knee.

"You know, if you keep struggling like that, I might start enjoying it." Joker grinned, calling her attention back to him.

"From what I've heard, you wouldn't know what to do with me even if you did start enjoying it." (Y/n) hissed, as she seemingly on purpose dropped herself down heavily on his lap, causing him to groan uncomfortably.

There was a collective uncomfortable chuckle that came from the other men in the car due to her comment. The rest of the gang knew of their boss's reputation, or lack of reputation as far as the fairer sex was concerned, but no one in their right mind would dare mention it.

Joker growled. "Don't flatter yourself woman, you ain't my type."

He knew he was lying; she was more than his type, even if she was a Wayne. He wasn't used to being challenged anymore, and the fact that she was shooting him down every chance she got, he found strangely arousing. Most of the women that levitated towards the gang were the submissive type, or whores, neither of which he found appealing. Now here was a woman that ticked all his boxes, and not only was she his hostage, she was also Thomas Wayne's sister. If he could have punched himself in the face, then and there he would have; why did life have to be so fucking complicated.

"Flatter myself?" She scoffed. "I wouldn't touch you if you were the last man on the planet; that is if you are a man!"

Joker could feel the anger boil up inside him, how dare she say that to him. Given half a chance he would show her exactly what kind of man he was; he would make her beg for him as he bent her over the bonnet of the car, as he took her roughly from behind. He shook his head, trying to rid himself of the erotic thoughts of their two sweaty bodies shaking and trembling as they fucked one another senseless. Now was neither the time or place to be thinking such things; they still weren't at the safehouse, and there was still a possibility that the cops would do something stupid.

"Here, you hold the bitch, I've had all I can take of her." Joker said as he gripped her arm roughly and pushed her on to George's lap.

"Maybe I should just shoot you now and put you out of my misery." He muttered, as a smirk came to her face.

"Well you were the one dumb enough to kidnap me; do you really think I'm going to lay down and make things easy for you? If you do, you're stupider than you look."

"For the love of god! George, will you gag her before I do something I'll regret." He barked.

Pulling off his tie, George tied it across her mouth, causing her to gag slightly, much to the amusement of Joker.

The rest of the trip to the safehouse proved quiet, and (Y/n) watched as the city turned into the lush countryside that lay beyond the outskirts of the rapidly expanding metropolis.

As they passed through a small wood, a large rustic house came into view; the grumble of the Ford's 3 litre engine alerting the occupants of the home to their approach. A number of inappropriately dressed woman came into view as the car came to a sudden stop. Joker grabbed hold of (Y/n)'s wrists and pulled her from the car.

"Lizzie, do me a favour and lock this one in one of the empty rooms will you." Joker said to an older woman that had just stepped out onto the porch.

She looked (Y/n) up and down. "And who might this be?" The woman sneered.

Joker glared at her. "None of your damn business, she's my concern. And if any harm comes to her I'll have your head."

Joker pushed (Y/n) forward towards the woman, who grabbed at her wrist. Quick as a flash (Y/n) had removed the gag from her mouth and bit down hard onto the woman's hand, forcing her to release her grip. The sound of the woman's scream alerted the men to what was happening, as (Y/n) took her opportunity to make a run from her captors.

Joker let out an exacerbated groan as he threw off his large trench coat and gave chase. She was quicker than she looked, and despite her hands still being bound together she was making headway, nimbly dodging branches and jumping over exposed tree roots. Joker was just glad that he was used to having to run, and despite her best efforts he was already catching up with her.

As she looked over her shoulder to see her pursuer she found that Joker was right behind her, and her momentary loss of concentration meant her foot found the next tree root and sent her barrelling to the floor, closely followed by Joker who appeared to have done the same. As she opened her eyes, she found the face of Joker mere centimetres from her own, his body laid on top of hers.

Joker looked down on the woman beneath him, his breath hitching in his throat as he felt her chest pushed up against his as they both gasped for air. He couldn't help but move his lips closer to hers as the pair looked deep into each other's eyes. The atmosphere between the two became charged as he slowly moved his hand to her face, stroking her cheek gently with his thumb.

Suddenly the look in her eyes changed. "GET. OFF. ME. YOU. PIG!" She yelled emphasising each word with a slap to either his arm, chest or face.

A defeated sigh left his lips as he rose to his feet dragging her up with him.

"Next time you try and run, run from someone that hasn't spent most of his time running for his life; that way you might make it." Joker said as he pulled her back towards the house.

"If that woman touches me again, I'll do more than bite her." (Y/n) said as she dug her heels into the ground forcing Joker to come to a halt.

Shaking his head, he looked at her. "Look, no one else is gonna touch you, and if they do, they'll have me to answer to alright?" He groaned dragging her the rest of the way back.

Pulling her passed everyone on the porch he found an empty room and shoved her inside.

"Stay here, don't move and keep quiet. Any noise and I'll tie you to that damn bed." He warned, eyeing her as she sat down on the edge of the bed.

"In your dreams." She muttered, crossing her arms over her chest.

Without another word,he slammed the door and locked it behind him. He was sure this woman was goingto be more trouble than she was worth, but it was definitely going to enjoy findingout what trouble he could get into with her
