The clock was slowing ticking its time away as Jimin stood behind the counter of the art store, waiting for a customer to come in and ask for something. It's been about an hour or so since he had his last customer and it was putting him in a little less happy mood than he was normally in. He propped his elbows up on the countertop, laid his chin in the palms of his hands and let out a small sigh. He wished the store would have more business, more-so, he wished more people appreciated art for what it really was.
The door to the shop opened, a little bell dinging to signal someone entered the store. The brunette looked up to see his usual customer and somewhat friend, Taehyung walk in. Taehyung was wearing his usual, odd shaped smile on his lips as he sauntered on over to the counter.
"Hi Jimin," The excited blonde waved to the worker behind the counter. Jimin simply nodded his head in acknowledgement. "Do you have any giant art books?" Taehyung asked, using his hands to show how big of a sketch book he was in search for.
The brunette nodded and pointed over to the left side of the store, all the way to the first aisle. That's where they kept their sketchbooks, notepads, spiral notebooks, things like that. The blonde gave a way-too-loud thanks to the brunette before skipping over to the first aisle in search of the perfect sketchbook he needed.
Taehyung reappeared in front of the brunette in no time, a large sketchbook carried in his hands. "This will be all I need, unless I forgot something and then I'll be back tomorrow," Taehyung grinned at the quiet boy behind the counter. He handed him the sketchbook so he could scan over the item.
Jimin quickly scanned over the item that was handed to him before looking up at the wide-smiling blonde who couldn't stop smiling since he entered the store. "It's $9.99, but what's got you smiling so much?" The brunette asked. Taehyung pulled a ten dollar bill out of his pocket and handed it to the brunette before speaking.
"Well, it's Jungkook and I's anniversary today and I'm just really really happy about it," the blonde boy giggled before taking the bag the brunette was handing to him. "And since he loves art so much, I figured I would get him another sketchbook."
Jimin nodded, understandingly. He was grateful that there was someone else who appreciated art, although he wasn't sure if the other boy appreciated it the way the brunette did. He basically lived off of art and drawing, while he had no clue whatsoever about the other boy and his feelings for art. Not that he really cared too much, he was just curious if there was another lover of art out there, besides himself.
"Well, I have to get home to Jungkook now, bye Jimin," Taehyung waved a goodbye to the brunette before walking out of the door, the bell dinging as soon as the door opened and closed.
Jimin was left alone, yet again, on a Friday evening. He was hoping the store would spark up some more business, yet he did that everyday he worked at the store but the increase of customers never happened. The amount of people coming in was always the same, maybe even a little less some days than others and he couldn't stand it.
He loved art, god he loved art so much, but when there's nobody to appreciate art, nobody to come into the store and look at the beauty of art, he gets upsets and thinks about why he decided to work in the little store. He would often have to remind himself he worked at the store solely because of his love for art, but the lack of customers was really getting to him. All he really wanted was to see more people appreciate the type of art he does.
It's kind of hard to open people's eyes on the beauty of art when there are different forms of art surrounding the little shop he worked at. To the right of him was a dance studio for the art of dancing, a book store next to the dance studio - which Jimin never understood but never questioned it, a theater arts class to the right of the book store. And on the left of the art shop where Jimin worked, was a newly opened music store. A larger amount of people would rather attend the music store or the dance studio rather than visit the store full of arts and crafts.
To the brunette, it seemed he was the only person to fully appreciate real art and the beauty of it all.
Jimin snapped out of his little daze when he heard the loud yells and swearing of a male and a female. He sighed, they're at it again, he thought while he leaned his torso on the countertop. Day after day, the brunette would have to hear the arguing between the dance studio owner and book store librarian, for what reason he didn't understand. All he could make out from their yelling was "books aren't art, why are they next to my studio?" then the female would yell back with "books are art, your studio should stop being so loud when people are trying to quietly read!" and that's what was going on right at that moment.
When will they shut up with their fighting? Jimin asked himself over and over. He glanced up at the ticking clock, realizing his shift was ending in about three minutes. He sighed to himself once again. He took his uniform's hat off and quickly ran a hand through his brown locks before setting the hat back on the top of his head. He didn't particularly like the hat that came along with the work uniform, but he didn't mention that to his boss because he knew he would probably get fired from his job if he said anything.
"You can go home any time you want Jimin," the brunette's boss yelled out to him from his office. "We don't have any business right now so you're free to go whenever."
Jimin yelled back a small "okay" before walking back to the "employee's only" room to change out of his uniform and get his stuff to leave. He unlocked the locker he had and quickly changed from his paint-splattered overalls and white t-shirt to his usual pair of dark denim jeans and a dark grey turtleneck sweater. He placed his uniform - and hat - in the locker before grabbing his bag and shutting the locker.
He walked out of the employee's only room and made his way towards the exit, his boss already at the entrance to give him his paycheck before he left.
"Here's your pay," the older man handed the brunette a white envelope with his name on it before walking away. Jimin quickly placed the envelope in his bag before exiting the store, the little bell dinging as he opened and closed the door.
The brunette was welcomed by the cold autumn's air as soon as he stepped outside, making him shiver slightly. He walked to the end of the sidewalk, making sure to look both ways for any cars that would be heading his way. Once he was sure he could make it across, the brunette made his way across the street to the little apartment complex he lived in, which was directly across from the art shop he worked in.
Jimin opened the door to the complex, the warmth from the inside making his goosebumps go away. He sighed in content as he walked fully into the complex, the scent of cinnamon entering his nose as soon as he walked inside.
"How was work, Jimin?" The owner of the complex, Jiyeon greeted the boy with a smile. Jiyeon was an elder woman who was very kind to others, especially to the brunette since she knew about his solitude situation he was in. The brunette just shrugged before making his way to the staircase and up to his apartment.
Jimin's apartment was on the second floor of the complex, the one furtherest away from others since nobody really lived in the complex and those who did, wanted to be on the third floor for the better view of the city.
The brunette unlocked the door to his apartment before entering. He was welcomed by a few small meows coming from his calico cat named Hana. Hana was only a kitten still, but she was very calm for being only a kitten. She didn't do things to get into trouble and mainly slept her life away. The only time the little kitten was awake was when Jimin first arrived home from work so he could feed her, then she would go back to sleep after she was satisfied.
"Hi Hana," Jimin bent down to pick up the little ball of fluff. He cradled her in his arms, rubbing his nose on the top of her head. She let out another small meow, content with being in the boy's arms.
The brunette kicked the door closed behind him, turning around to quickly lock it before heading to the kitchen to get the cat food. He sat Hana down on the counter as he poured the food into the bowl. Once the bowl was full of food, he set it down on the ground, the kitten jumping down to get to her bowl right away.
Jimin smiled at the little kitten before heading back out to his living room to watch some television. The brunette plopped down on his couch and turned the tv on. He curled himself up underneath a blanket as he watched a random show, not bothering to get up and eat.
The brunette found himself dozing off in the middle of a random show that was on, his eyelids becoming heavy the longer he kept them open. He had eventually gave up and let sleep overtake him, not thinking of the fact he would be completely sore when he woke up.
That's how Park Jimin lived his life in consistency.
