Someone came up to me today and said something along the lines of "have you heard of this show? This scientist named Rick turns himself into a pickle-"

Naturally I respond with "oh yeah, funniest thing I've ever seen" but they actually thought I was someone else lol

Anyways I hope they're not too embarrassed by it bc god knows that would keep me up at night

I also dropped my laptop recently 😁😁 hand eye coordination what's that????? Only the rotational bit got fucked up so hopefully it can be fixed

Anyways. I think I'm lapsing back into writing mode because my motivation to draw is gone and I have been eyeing my drafts like a hawk

I got the idea for 2 new oneshots + 2 new fanfics within the past month and I impulsively started a new planning document for another fic I haven't put in Wattpad drafts(at the time). Writing brain decided to pop off ig.

But I think what properly started that was a reinterest in Inanimate Insanity??? But specifically Nickel. I think it's because I remembered "wait isn't Nickel an environmentalist" because that's the premise of one of my new oneshots and I wanted to confirm.

He is indeed an environmentalist :) In fact, he loves the outdoors. PLUS he has a passion for teaching and likes helping friends. I'm not sure where I got this notion from, but I'm 60% sure most fanfics with Nickel portray him as like. Hating everyone and everything except Baseball lol???? I think that might be the case in fics primarily about Suitcase but I don't have the time to comb through and check.

Or it could also be just my own thoughts about Nickel prior to learning this and I'm just projecting lol. I definitely want to check, but not right now.

And then the topic of Balloon and Nickel came to me and while I haven't been keeping up with III, I think they're buds now. Which struck me as "wow that's awkward lmao imagine being friends with the person who caused trauma for your other friend". Because Suitcase and Nickel have never made up or talked about what happened and I don't think they canonically ever will.

Then I realized "holy shit Balloon and Nickel had the same fucking arcs" because hear me out. Balloon in season 1 was a jackass because he wanted to win the competition and apparently he thought being a jackass was the way to do it. But we learn in season 2 that wasn't his real personality and he tries to make up for it.

Nickel was always characterized by bluntness and pessimism but he was never a jackass(debatable). Then season 2 happened and Suitcase unfortunately suffered from his competitiveness and him being overly gruff towards her. And of course the whole Balloon thing complicated everything. But to Nickel, that was the winning strategy. It wasn't personal to him. In the storyboard before he got booted, he looks remorseful when he says it, so I like to think that bitterness that made the final cut is a cover/defense mechanism(?) for him feeling sorry for how he treated Suitcase.

Anyways what I'm saying is that both Balloon and Nickel let the spirit of competition get to them too much, which damaged their relationships and ultimately caused their downfall. We at least see Balloon make up for his mistakes, but we only see a hint of that remorse in Nickel. Again, I haven't watched III, so maybe Nickel does apologize to Balloon then.

I thought it was a pretty cool parallel between them and I haven't really seen anyone else say anything about that so...yeah :)

Moving on from that I really think I'll be writing more???? Time will tell. I have a short fic in the works rn and I want to at least finish that because it's only 7 chapters + a prologue. If I can't muster the energy to finish that, then there's like. No hope for the other...30 fics I have drafted. Plus the others still loafing about in my head.

I'm also collabing with someone on another fic and I REALLY want to start contributing more to that. They mentioned they wanted to have it done by the end of the year so 😁😁😁 gotta hop to it!!!! I've literally had no ideas for it though lmao so that's unfortunate.

And of course the oneshots which have been backed up for more than a year now 👍 plus the fucking 24 other oneshots I came up with myself. Lots of writing to catch up on but I can do it probably!!!!

I actually. Picked a creative writing class to do in senior year and I KNOW I mentioned before I'm part of the creative writing club but like. Hnrhskbksn I don't feel like I belong there lol. I know it's just anxiety talking but I don't like stepping out of my comfort zone 👍👍👍 I thought that with something I HAVE to do like a class, I'd be better about writing pieces for it but what if it backfires and I start not liking writing BECAUSE I have to do it. High stakes 👍

But that's a problem for future me because I can't do anything about it now other than having a sense of impending doom 😁😁😁

Anywho I drew some DND characters with different hairstyles because I realized 4/5 of the ones who have hair have them tied in some way. But Arivine's is too short to do anything with anyway so.

Horkin with a bun 👍😁 He looks so clean it's almost unnatural....

His hair should probably be longer than that lol.

Anyways something about Barryl is like....aesthetically pleasing idk???? He's nice to look at.

Oh yeah and have this. Made him for a group project in Environmental Science. His name is Dam Man and he can turn into a dam.

Yooooooo it's almost 3AM what else is new B))))

Anyways. Finished that environmental science project on Thursday so here's the digital colored version of Dam Man

Yea

The gist was that we had to make characters based off of renewable energy sources and then we'd debate on which was the best. Then our group lost in the first round to Russell from Up(representing wind) lolz

I'm not sure if I should actually give Dam Man a proper face 🤔🤔 this one is kinda iconic. And I say this because somehow in the course of a day I grew attached to him lmao. So he'll reappear from time to time probably.

Oh yeah and Ceral with hair down!!! Redrew it and it's a lot better <3

Uhhhhh I watched RT play Undertale recently!!!! I forgot how good the music is ugh <33333333

I also realized that Ceral/Toriel and Ashyn/Undyne are literally the same characters.

Ceral/Toriel: mom friend, overprotective, gentle yet stubborn, people close to then have died and they'd do anything to prevent it from happening again

Ashyn/Undyne: Cool as hell, fish women, lesbians. Also they both have a y in their name which is relatively uncommon as far as I'm aware.

So naturally I drew a crossover 😁

New OCs :] I debated showing these guys off until I finished with the DND OCs but uh. Guess I'm doing it early lol.

Top to bottom!! Auris, Penni, Natalie. Auris isn't supposed to look that angry but he does have a bit of a resting bitch face.

They won't get super formal introductions like the DND OCs though lol

Okay so Auris is a bit of a work in progress and I only have a loose idea of his backstory!?!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 But his thing is like. Being blind due to being an aura seer. Which just means he can see other people's auras(emotions+vibes) but that's really it. Aura seers can also do other things but he's never trained for that stuff lol.

So Auris is the oldest out of all of them at like 23ish??? Subject to change but he is in his 20s. He's basically their chaperone lol. I will be honest he doesn't have a fleshed out personality other than 'annoyed mysterious parent friend who looks/acts dead inside but actually cares a lot about their friend group' but that's okay ☺☺☺

Also he's literally a vibe check. You can't lie to him because he will know. Unless you're like a master of deception he's very good at seeing people's intents and true emotions. I do have yet to figure out what the cap for that ability is though. Like to what extent can he see 'intents and true emotions' because it can be very complicated!!!

Penni is the obligatory sunshine character 😁😁😁😁

She's very uh. Something!!! Very off the walls and excitable and adventure hungry. She's that one kid who climbed trees in elementary school. Has a 2 second attention span. Probably ate bugs. You know the type.

And then I realized she's uh. Kind of ADHD coded???? But I'm not sure if her behaviors warrant me saying "yeah she has ADHD" yknow. So I still wanna do research on that 👍

So her backstory basically goes she was coming home from school and was like "hmmm actually I won't go home today lol" and she took a bus into the city and got her dumbass lost lmao. And then later on Auris found her lwk panicking(via sensing someone with very intense emotions) and helps bring her home.

And bc Auris himself is kind of drifting at that time Penni's parents are like "oh you can stay here if you want" so yea. Penni's excited to have a new friend and Auris likes her company and genuineness.

Let it also be known that at their time of meeting, Auris is 18 and Penni is 13.

Natalie!!! Is from the moon. She fell off the dark side of the moon when she was like. 6. And grew up in another earth town....village....haven't really decided. She has basically no memory of living on the moon lol.

She also has little moon/star freckles that glow in the dark 😁😁 And a stuffed bunny she keeps with her at all times because it's the only thing keeping her alive on the earth 👍👍👍 Said stuffed bunny has the power to heal any physical ailment as well 👍👍

When the main story takes place, she's 19. And she's basically set out on her own to find where she came from because she knows she's adopted + has always felt she wants to go to the moon so yeah 👍👍 And she + Penni and Auris meet up along the way and Penni is like "new friend!!! :D" and they just start travelling together after that.

The reason Penni and Auris are out and about in the first place is because even before Penni graduates high school she goes "okay so what if I don't go to college and I travel the world instead". Penni's parents are aware this is probably(?) the best choice for her because she does kind of shit in school and has never expressed real interest in college. So they let her go ig lol. That probably makes 0 sense but uh. Yeah. And Auris goes with her because wtf there's no way he's letting her go alone.

Natalie herself is very curious yet cautious but she does lose her braincells around Penni because chaotic good is contagious 💖💖💖

I'm not sure what I want the story to be like if anything??? Like do I want it to be just shenanigans or do I want them to fight monsters 🤔🤔🤔 I can probably have both tbh but I don't want the story to be. bad 😀😀😀😀

Let's talk development stuff! Originally!!! Penni and Auris were Sonic OCs!!!!!! And Auris's name was Aura bc that's his power lol. Penni was a porcupine(which inspired her hairstyle) and Auris was an axolotl.

But I was terrible with their development and even though I liked their concepts, the story was so fucking bad. It basically revolved around Penni and Auris getting caught up in a Sonic style 'save the world' adventure and since Penni looked up to all the heroes she really wanted to help. But she ended up making things worse lol and she got super insecure. She ended up saving the day somehow but her mental state was so bad that in a sequel, some parasite that feeds off negative feelings took host in her and was like "I'm gonna destroy the world and it's your fault lmao" which just made things worse. And THAT story revolved around Penni learning to accept herself as she is.

Looking at it now, the premise isn't so bad? But the way I executed and tried to write it was horrid. And that wasn't even the first iteration of Penni and Auris either; ORIGINALLY originally, Penni was a Sonic Forces OC and I added Auris later.

Like nothing really made sense??? All I had were the big plot points but nothing in between. The villain didn't make sense, the way Penni saved the day was actual bullshit, and it was just terrible all around lol. And then later on another character made an appearance in the comics and she was basically Penni but better.

But I had gotten way too attached to Penni's story in all it's terrible glory and wanted to fix it. And then last month-ish I just realized I should let go of that idea entirely because they didn't fit as fan characters!! Penni's story never revolved around the Sonic characters, it revolved around her idolization of heroes and the consequences that came from it.

So I just gave Penni and Auris their own original universe to properly develop in. And Natalie was always an original character, so I decided "hey, let's put all three of them in the sane universe!" and that's where we are today 👍 And I'm SO glad I did that because I probably would've dropped Penni and Auris as OCs if I hadn't.

Another factor that contributed to me not liking the Sonic version of them was because the only other person I talked to about them didn't like Penni or her story which is fair.

So ORIGINALLY originally, Penni was made as an antithesis to the stereotypical mary sue Sonic OC. I made sure she had no powers, had no tragic backstory, gave her no love interest(aside from a crush that ended up being idolization), and other non-sue things. But she was BORING AS HELL!!!! Except 2017 me was like "yeah this is perfect lol"

And over time I made changes and stuff but the thing is. Said person was always like "she's too bland/irrelevant" or "lmao how quirky. r/notlikeothergirls/is being weird her only personality trait" or straight up "I don't really like her" which uh. Really hurt lol. Completely valid criticisms tbh(this person isn't a fan of the sunshine character trope) but I just wanted to make a character that wasn't terrible. And unfortunately Penni was terrible no matter what I did 😁😁😁😁😁😁

So yeah the best choice was just to start over with a new universe bc the other version carries too many bad memories and is just. Bad. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I tend to create OCs that are similar to me. Ceral is one of those OCs, and so is Penni. And one thing they have in common is that it took MULTIPLE ITERATIONS and distancing from me to make them interesting 😁😁😁😁 wonder what that says about me 🤔🤔🤔

Nah jk I'm just bad at making original characters. This is why I only write fanfiction 🤙🤙🤙
