Savior from the Heart

(A/N)
This is part of my book for Sjm1315 's book contest. It's just the beginning, and much more to come! I might also make a complete different book for this if you guys like it.
Okay, enough yapping and onto the story! (Did that sound cheesy?) xD

Alayziah stalked up to her new middle school's front doors. Westward Junior High (I couldn't think of anything better xD). A living hell. The kids clearly get away with anything, Alayziah thought, They've completely covered the walls with graffiti! She studied the colorful designs on the wall, ignoring the shouts as other students called out to their friends until one voice neared her.

"Megan! I've missed you, dude!" a guy punched "Megan" on the shoulder playfully. She giggled and shoved him on the chest, knocking him into a crowd of girls.

"Oh... S-sorry!" he stuttered as the girls giggled nervously and whispered to each other.

Alayziah glanced back to the wall when he looked her way. Her face grew bright red as leaves crunched behind her and a hand fell on her shoulder. The hand spun her around, the sight making her heart melt.

It was the cute guy who looked her way. His face was stern as he pushed up his geeky glasses.

"Hey. I'm Zachary, but you can call me Zach." he reached out his hand for Alayziah to shake.

"Oh, I-I'm Alayziah!" She stumbled over her own words as she shook his hand with her own.

"Come with me!" he pulled her over past Megan and to a bench in the middle of the main sidewalk. (Did that even make sense?)

"Hey everybody!" he shouted after they both climbed on the bench. "This is Alayziah!"

Everyone glanced at one another and looked back at Alayziah awkwardly. Some kids looked at her almost... Apologetically.

"She's new here, as you can tell! Megan!" he barked. Megan ran up to them and stumbled a little along the way.

"Can you show her around the school?"

"Sure." her bracelets jingled as she pulled Alayziah off the bench.

"I'm so glad I get to meet all these people, although I don't like all the attention at once." she muttered to Megan.

Megan coughed and tried to avoid eye contact with her.

"Well... We don't tend to get many newcomers here, and most of them end up leaving for... reasons." Her eyes darted everywhere except at Alayziah. "So we have a little... ritual, as you would call it, to help with newcomers."

Alayziah nodded, although Megan's explanation was a but puzzling. If it were to help with newcomers, why did they always leave? Before she could say anything, Megan decided to speak up.

"So I guess I'll start the tour now. Over there is the sixth grader classes, so you don't need to worry about going over there. Up those stairs to your left are where the eighth grade classes are, and also where some of our exploratory classes are. But past there is all our classes, grouped together. And over there is..."

Alayziah tuned out Megan's blabbing and followed mindlessly behind her, like a lost puppy. It would be a while until the tour would finally end.

*Time skip*

Alayziah sighed as she plopped down next to Megan in the students' lounge. The school was amazing! It had everything, from an auditorium to a giant pool! She just couldn't put her finger on what was odd about it.

"So... What'd you think of Zach? Pretty macho, isn't he?" Megan smirked.

     "Well, I guess." Alayziah blushed.

"You have a crush on him already, don't you!"

Alayziah blinked while her face grew redder than a tomato.

     "No! I- it's just -"

"No denying it, Alayziah. I can tell a crush when I see one, and I know just how to deal with it." Megan's smirk grew bigger by the second.

"How?" Alayziah gulped, already knowing the answer.

     Megan's eyes narrowed with seriousness.

"You have to tell him. And if you don't, I will."

Alayziah's blood ran cold. She shook her head rapidly, not able to form words in her mouth.

"Alright, I'll tell him then. You'll regret ever coming here and stealing my show." Megan stormed out of the room.

"What was that?" Alayziah asked herself as tears formed in her eyes. 'You'll regret ever coming here'? She shook in disbelief. Megan wouldn't. She couldn't. She acted as a friend, then stabbed Alayziah in the back. What a friend.

While Alayziah was pondering over what to do with her crush fiasco, little did she know that her "mistake" would lead to something that could change her life forever.

I hope you enjoyed that little piece of my story! I would go on even longer, but I don't want to get too far and not be able to stop. If you guys liked it, comment! And vote. Or whatever (Is it good enough to win?).

See you later ^¬^
