PRIDE MONTH!!

So, pride month has started. I made some art to celebrate it.

But, before that, I wanna talk a bit.

Yes, I'm part of the LGBT community (I identify as bi). It can be a little difficult since some of my family is extremely homophobic, and one of the countries I am from (Armenia) is also an extremely homophobic one (gay men literally get beaten up on the street if they're not secretive about their sexuality) (but, luckily, I don't live there. I just go for the summer).

I really hope that, one day, all of this will just stop. I know that there will always be prejudice against the LGBT community, but I'm hoping that there will be changes in at least some of the countries where the situation for LGBT rights are the worst. Especially the places were you can get the death penalty just because you're not heterosexual. Being LGBT is not a choice, not at all.

Some people from Armenia say crap like 'oh, we don't care if someone is gay', but then in the next sentence they speak of how disgusting it is for two men to simply kiss. Or, they say 'oh, we don't mind if someone's gay, we just don't want it shoved down our throat', which... huh...? Would two girls kissing be 'shoving it down their throat'? According to them, something as simple as Pride Month would be 'promoting' gayness, which is so, so misinformed.

Pride month doesn't exist to 'promote' LGBT. It exists to celebrate the fact that a group of people who have been suppressed for so, so long in society finally have the freedom to express themselves. And it's a real privilege that we have this pride month in the West, because in some other countries, you could be ridiculed, imprisoned, or even killed for being LGBT.

Of course, the West still has its fair share of homophobia, which should be taken care of ASAP.
