You sat on your futon with your legs crossed. Closing your eyes, you focused your energy into finding Tatsumaki.
'I have a feeling we're not going to get along. Might as well see what she's all about since she's probably seen me.' The darkness lit up in flashing lights as you reached out for her. Out in the mountainous region, your vision cleared, and you were able to see a large... godzilla? Dinosaur? You weren't sure, but it was big, and it was probably going to cause trouble. From your left, you noticed a small thing falling towards the ground. Your vision zoomed in on it.
'That's her.'
Tatsumaki landed on the ground, facing the giant lizard thing. Then she took a phone call.
'Heedless, isn't she. Well, she's not Class S, Rank 2 for no reason.' You couldn't hear was she was saying, but you knew what she was just from watching her mouth move. After a little, the lizard thing took a giant step to try and squash her, but she just flew up into the air to level with it.
'Green's her color, huh?'
The lizard thing opened its mouth, a giant ball of... fire? Lava? Whatever, began to form. However, it stopped with its attack. Your vision went up into the sky where you could faintly see something dropping.
'Oh? Well that's interesting.'
The meteor crashed right into the lizard, completely decimating it down to bones, while leaving a giant crater in the earth. You pulled out of your second pairs of eyes, blinking away the after images.
'Well... nap time.' You flopped over onto your side and was knocked out immediately. About two hours later, you woke up to your phone ringing.
"Ugh... god, leave me alone." You reached over and picked it up. "Hello? ... why? ... do I really need to? ... fine, on my way there." You hung up.
"This hero shit better be worth it," you sighed as you stood up.
~
You arrived later than the rest of the Class S heroes, because you didn't wanna go. You were in the middle of a really good nap, and it got disturbed. You weren't amused. You leisurely walked through the entire building until you got to the meeting room doors, which slid open. You took a step inside, but paused.
"... Saitama, why are you here?"
"Oh, Genos invited me."
"Of course he did." You walked into the room and you could feel all of Class S's stares on you.
"I have to admit." Atomic Samurai leaned his head forward. "It's impressive that a rookie like you jumped so far in ranking." You took a seat across from him and shrugged.
"Shit happens," you replied.
"You're an ESPer like Tornado we've heard," he continued, "It's rare that someone's like that."
"ESPer?" You repeated, furrowing your brows. "What kinda modernized off-brand name is that?"
"What did you say?" Tatsumaki leaned forward, barely able to look over the large table screen in front of you.
"The term was coined in the 1930's, but no one actively used it. The main word they used for people like Tornado and I is witch."
"Witch?" Atomic repeated. "That word's been outdated since the 17th century. How old are you?" You looked over at him.
"Old enough."
A tense silenced settled over the group of you.
"Oi," Samurai said, his expression suddenly dead serious. "I don't know what you're trying to do, but I don't like the feeling you give off." You tilted your head at him.
"Really? I thought I was being quite tame."
The sliding door opened, and three men walked in.
"My apologies for being late," the middle man spoke. "We do not know the whereabouts of Metal Knight or Blast, nor can we reach them."
'They're idiots if they can't keep track of their own heroes.' You thought, leaning back on the chair.
"No sense waiting any longer, so let's begin this emergency meeting. You can call me Sitch."
'Like 'what's the sitch'? I get it. Clever.'
"I'm with the Association. I will be briefing you. Let's get right down to brass tracks. You heroes are here because you're the best of the best. And now..." He slammed his hands on the table. "We're asking you to save the earth! However, even with your Class S skills, there is no guarantee of survival." You whistled.
'Sounds like a challenge.'
"Walking away also takes courage. Should you choose to do so now, you will retain Class S status. But those who stay and hear me out will not be allowed to walk away. You will be confined here until the incident is over in order to avoid a general panic."
'Hm... panic's sure to happen either way.'
"Are you all willing to hear this?"
"Whatever's going on it better be worth calling all of us here," Metal Bat said, "I skipped out on my little sister's piano recital for this."
'Oh?'
"If it's a load of crap I'm gonna tear this whole building apart."
"Like you could do that with that skinny stick," Tatsumaki said from her seat.
"Yeah?! How about I bust your head open instead?!"
"You have a pompadour hairstyle, I wouldn't act tough."
"YOU SHUT UP!"
You just shrugged.
"The great seer, Madame Shibabawa is dead!"
That quieted the table.
'A seer?'
"Shibabawa? Was she killed?" Zombieman asked.
"No. While looking into the future for the next six months, she became agitated and had a coughing fit. She popped a cough drop in her mouth and ended up choking on it."
You had to hold back your laughter with the strength of a thousand suns.
"I get it!" Darkshine said, "So we have to figure out how to prevent disasters without the help of predications. That's the focus of this meeting."
"No," Sitch corrected, "Madame Shibabawa had only been able to predict a handful of disasters."
'So she was your basic fortune teller or whatever. Didn't actually possess any strong psychic ability.'
"We've gotten through many crises without Madame Shibabawa's predictions," the other man spoke. "But even so, we provided a bodyguard, and gave her special treatment." You rolled your eyes at that.
"Yes, because her few predictions were 100 percent accurate," Sitch added, "The crux of the problem, though..." He reached into his suit pocket and pulled out a paper.
"Is her last, greatest prophecy. Even as she choked on that final cough drop, she managed to leave this note." He unfolded it. He placed it on the table where it scanned its contents. "It is a prophecy that will absolutely come to pass. Here it is!" The holographic version of it appeared, facing all of you.
"Can you read it?"
THE EARTH IS IN TROUBLE
You sighed quietly and slumped a little.
'Man... I shouldn't have taken the call.'
Ja ne!
