xxxi.
We were still an hour away from Daegu but I could already spot the seashore beside the road.
"Can I open the window?" I asked Taehyung who was busy driving.
"You'll catch a cold," He warned.
"It's okay," I rolled down the windows, letting the fresh cold air replace the air conditioner.
After the not-so-boring ride, we finally entered the province of Daegu.
"Where exactly?" He asked, slowing down the speed of the car.
"You must be tired, let's switch seats and I'll drive. I'm pretty sure you're not familiar of this place."
"No, I'm fine, just point the directions—" He hesitated but I cut him off.
In the end, I still got to drive. Taehyung looked pretty nervous as he watched me.
"Do you think I'll crash your car because I'm a woman?"
"N-no, it's not that.." He denied.
"Don't be nervous, I'm a responsible driver," I chuckled.
After trying to remember the way, we finally arrived infront of a tall building.
It had red brick walls with a black gate around. It looked old yet at the same time, it looked like it had been taken care of in the past years.
I looked at the sign at the top, which said; Daegu School of Arts.
"Daegu School of Arts?" Taehyung gazed at the place.
"You used to study here," I paused, "we used to study here."
"Really?" He looked a little excited.
Honestly, I'm even more excited.
"Let's go inside," I turned off the engine and got out, as Taehyung did so too.
A guard was sitting inside the small guardhouse, though he looked a little drowsy.
"Excuse me, can we come in?" I politely asked and he blinked a few times before nodding.
He opened the huge gate as Taehyung trailed behind me, curiosity lingering on the corner of his eyes.
There were a few people around, but what caught my eye were the students.
It's not a school day today but they were wearing the school uniform.
Both genders wore the same blazer. I think I still have that blazer - except it's color was a little faded. Even that golden badge with the school's logo gives me nostalgia.
It reminded me of the old days where I used to go around in that uniform.
"I used to wear that too?" He pointed at the students.
"Exactly," I nodded.
"Wanna go see the art room?"
Taehyung's face lit up in enthusiasm, "they have one?!"
We entered the art room which was around the third floor. It was filled with paintings, mostly from the winners of the contests they used to conduct.
I made my way to the familiar painting. It was a little dusty but the actual resemblance of the sea was visible.
And on one corner, there was a name written...
"Kim Taehyung!"
I yelled when the host asked for votes.
Behind him were the top three chosen paintings, and one of them was created by Taehyung.
He was nervously fiddling with his fingers on the stage, and then his gaze landed on me.
His expression slowly turned positive and his lips curved into a small smile.
Since then, I was the noisiest girl for cheering Taehyung.
And he earned a trophy for being the champion.
While I earned a kiss on the cheek - "for being the best cheerleader", according to him.
Take me back to the old days.
