Black,black,black.
That was all I could see.That was all I ever saw,and with the occasional voices of mother,father,and someone else's voice that my brain could not give a name for.
On one night I heard the clicking of my mother's and father's talons. There voices soothed me in the dark abyss."Do you think she'll hatch tonight?" Excitement laced her voice."She has to; it's the night. Three full moons, possible animus powers." Said father,happiness and greed hidden in his voice. I couldn't hear the words perfectly,much less understand them,or the emotions.
I heard whispers,whispers, calling me out. Come out,come out, come out to your life. A soft hum came from mother,then after,the clicking of talons fading away in the distance.No! Come back! Don't leave me! I mentally screamed at them,with less words however.Please...
I pushed on the walls I now knew of,desperate to hear mother and father once more.I pushed and pushed,pushing to escape.What is this? With fewer words I had thought. I pushed once more breaking the walls of black.
Empty. Gone. Mother? Father? They had left me. They had left me! Anger and power surged from my small talons to the tip of my tail. I tried to pad forward,but fell on my chest. Tears welled up in my eyes,freaking me out further. I cried, terrified.
Then the rush of talons scrapping the marble floor rushing towards my trembling form. I was curled in a ball,sobbing. " Sweet baby!" I was swiped up in my mothers warm arms. I climbed up and rested at the base of my mothers neck. I saw her shining necklace,tempting me to pull and poke at it.
I slowly reached for and grabbed the shimmering object. "You like mom ya necklace?" She took it off,careful not to let me fall,and put it around my neck."m-m-mo-mo-mom" "look! She's trying to say something!" "Momm-momm-momma!" I started chanting her name,happy I was able to say it and communicate with the one that loves me. I looked over at father,and reached out to him. He smiled warmly at me,and lifted his talon so I could grasp it. I held it tightly,never wanting to let go." Hello sweet shun shine. Daddy's here." "D-d-da-da-dad" "you can do it!" "Dad-dadd-dadd-daddy! Daddy!" Chanting both there names happily,my parents held me lovingly.
I looked up,and as I saw the stars,my eyes widened. They sparkled and shimmered, like mothers necklace. I reached for them,wanting to hold them,proudly show them to my parents."You like the stars?" Mother pointed to them"those are stars!" "Starcatcher." My father blurted."What?" "Starcatcher. That's her name." My mother smiled,happy with it."you like that name? Starcatcher?" I smiled. It sounded nice when they say it.
