Okay. First of all, I don't think Umbli is bad, I just don't ship it.

If Umber meant destiny as in love, he probably only had a VERY small, I mean VERY small crush on Qibli. And since he ran away (probably back to the Mud kingdom, idk, I FORGOT OKAY) Umber  most likely forgot about everyone and everything at Jade mountain academy. So now that's out of the way.

And Umber most likely meant destiny as in FRIEND. I have some good friends irl and I know they are a good "destiny" not as in love, as in FRIENDSHIP. Like a metaphor. "Destiny" meaning a path. A path in life, like a road.
