After the swordsmith village arc and Giyuu got done with some work he was allowed a week off his work and so decided to take him and Satomi on vacation. The sun was lowering and they found a nice little inn. When they got there room Satomi accidentally spilled tea on her sheets. Giyuu went down to find her a new sheet but the elderly owner misplaced them so it took about 10 minutes to find some. While he was doing that, Chēnbīsuto and Kagutsuchi bird minion saw Satomi alone. It was sent to find a proper toy for the children of the demon after Urogi death. It sat on the window still, luring Satomi to the window and when she reached to pet it It grabbed her arm and flew her out the window. Her screams alerted Giyuu who immediately jumped from tree to tree to get his daughter. More fire like birds appeared and attacked him, causing him to lose vision of her and losing her indefinitely 

Giyuu covered in burns, soot and claw marks looks at the ground he has fallen on and at the last thing he has left of her, her hairpin. He yowled like a banshee, guilt in his body
