Serious talk ahead, so trigger warning.

Right off the bat, there's no art in this chapter, this is just something that I want to tell you all about because you should get the warning.

So for those of you who don't know, I was born, raised, and still live in Puerto Rico, which is a small island in the Caribbean. We're legally United States territory, but we're not considered a state.

Recently, some bad incidents have been happening.

Last weekend, a woman here went missing. She had been dating a boxer from here for around eleven years if I'm not mistaken. She wanted to talk to him about something, and her family warned her to be careful. After that, she disappeared.

However, a few days later, her body was found in a large body of water. (a river I think it was?) Apparently, the guy she was dating knocked her out with a punch, tied something heavy to her, and let her drown in said body of water. The one who helped the man do this is the one who told the police everything, and they are both looking at a life time in prison.

To put more salt on the wound, the woman was pregnant at this time.

About a week before this, a separate incident happened, when a woman was burned alive by her husband/ex husband (I'm not sure), and something similar to that case also happened in France around the same time.

Unfortunately, sexism is still something that exists in our world. It doesn't just happen to women, a lot of men become victims of domestic violence too. And that's why I want to say one thing, and one thing only.

You are a human being, not an object. You don't belong to anyone, and your life is yours only. If you see that you have to leave a toxic relationship, with a family member, a lover, or even just a friend, then leave.

The only one who stops you from leaving is yourself, you make that choice.
