So Laurie posted a few things regarding Harley and Joel, and it made me think that I've never properly explained Joel and Violet's backstories, so um-

Violet is the only child in her family; she is genuinely loved by both of her parents, and was spoiled a lot while growing up.

However, she was never allowed to leave her castle or meet new people, and although her parents were very kind with her, they were also very traditional. They didn't let her do many things simply because she was a woman, a princess, and her whole life she was trained to be the perfect wife.

On her fifteenth birthday she was already introduced to marry some prince, and all she ever did was stay quiet, smile, and only speak when spoken to; she was like a porcelain doll who would only talk at the press of a button.

On the other hand, Joel had the complete opposite life. Yes he was rich and royalty, he could go out to his town and meet anyone and everyone of his subjects, but he was always in training to be the perfect king.

The bad part was that his mother's definition of a perfect king was for him to rule with an iron fist, and to strike fear into everyone. Joel has always had a kind heart, and he's always tried to be nice with everyone, but whenever his mother saw him "misbehave", he would get severely punished.

The punishments consisted of getting kicked and punched by his mother for hours, and she once got so furious because he spoke up to her, that she cut off one of his fingers.

One day, when fifteen, he was sent to another kingdom far away to meet his future wife, who turned out to be Violet. But to their surprise, they grew to have a sibling relationship instead, and caring for each other as if they were family, and in the dark of night, escaped their lives, and eventually making it to Gravity Falls.

They were found by Lilith, Aiden and Iv's mother, who saw them tired, cold, and hungry in the middle of the woods, and she brought them in to heal them.

Joel and Violet met Laurie through Iv, and then met Harley through Laurie.

Well, Harley admitted he actually hated Joel because he assumed that because he was a prince, he had the perfect life, when in reality, Joel has severe trauma because of his mother, and never wishes to go back.
