My class watched a movie called A Rasin in The Sun. It is also a play and a book, but we just watched the movie.

It is part of our final, which is a project. First we draw something related to our topic for the front of our page, something that symbolizes it. We can't have negative space. The teacher gave us some ideas for topics and I chose one on the family's matriarch: Lena.

I actually chose something none of my classmates seemed to really notice: a plant. It wasn't often talked about but it was in plenty of scenes. It has a lot more symbolism than meets the eye.

This is a page for us to sketch out our idea, then we make the real drawing on a thicker piece of paper. It's not as detailed as I like (aside from the plant) but it is a WIP.

Once we have the drawing and our teacher sees it on the exam day, we turn it over and write at least 7 sentences on the representation of the symbol. Mine has several, actually.

There's also a chance for 25 bonus points on whoever has the most artistic creativity. I certainly plan on trying my hardest for it. While I have good grades in her class, any bonus point is a good one. But it feels nice in general to have something like this, because my parents are really proud of it and like it.

Wish me luck because I'm gonna need it. However, I am feeling confident about it. Mainly because I'm not drawing a person.
