There are various exceptions to this, and I can sympathize with them, but god damn is most "revenge" infuriating. Especially when it destroys people's lives in order to "teach them a lesson", even though that one person who you just wrecked is simply a pitiful pawn of the people who are actually benefiting. It's infuriating when people act as if the person carrying out the justice is noble and mighty, even if that person's deeds were just as bad as the criminal's and completely uncalled for.

"Getting back at someone" and "making them deserve it" is just wrong in my opinion. The act itself may be mild, even righteous at times, but the holier-than-thou afterthought that comes along with it is despicable. No, you are not a good person after overcomplicating things that could easily have been dealt with in a professional manner.

Sometimes people need a slap in the face to change. Criminals should always be punished for their actions. However, don't you ever stoop to their level and declare yourself a hero because they did it first.
