Inktober 1-5

This is my version of a piece of MCSM fan art that I've seen by (I think) KateKenway. Original image below ⬇️

Now, I can't confirm that this is by KateKenway because I found it on Pinterest and the piece is not watermarked. But that's who the information section of the pin said it was by *shrug*

This one is my own original piece and I'm...okay with it. This is a character from SU named Lapis. It's a pretty simple illustration because I was a couple days behind on Inktober when I drew this and I needed to get caught up. But I am now, so it's okay! Also, I totally fricked up during this drawing but I successfully covered it up >: D

This is the original of another recreation I did. I'm also unable to credit the artist for the same reasons. I wish I could because every artist deserves credit for their work, no matter how high or lower their skills currently are.

I think she looks a little too friendly compared to the original, but still. And I know the colors are much lighter in my version, but that's only because those were the closest colors I have in my gel pen collection. And that's something I wanna mention, btw. In both last year's and this year's Inktober, I'm using my Gel pens for all these illustrations. The main reason being because this challenge is supposed to be, Yknow...Challenging. And since Copics obviously count as ink, it really wouldn't be challenging for me, even if they are in accordance with the rules, since my Copics are my primary art supply.

So, using my gel pens takes me out of my comfort zone, and still classifies as Ink. Though, I do use a handful of art supplies that aren't my gel pens:

Fine liners: Sometimes my gel pens are able to get the crisp line I need.

Copics: Yes, I do and will use my Copics on occasion in these and future illustrations. But ONLY when my gel pens aren't able to get the effect I need. (An example of this will be in the following illustration.) However, I do make sure that if and when I do use them, I do not use them beyond necessity.

My White Posca Paint Marker: This is the only art supply I use that does not count as Ink. I only use this when my white gel pen decides to hate me and not do it's job, or when I make a terrible mistake and I need to use a physical Undo-Button.

There.

Right, so I figured that I'd dress a character up in a Halloween costume because...I don't know if you knew this, but it's October. And then I realized that I'd done this before with Jesse. Once I remembered my design, I decided to look back at it...

"OH, DEAR GOD"

Needless to say, I needed to redeem myself. So I sketched this up, added the endereye to the hat, and colored it. As previously mentioned, I used my Copics on this illustration. The reason I did was because if you've ever seen a enderman, you know that they're pure black and thats how I wanted her costume to appear. Now, I technically could've used my gel pen, but it would've taken a ridiculous amount of ink and time, with a scratchy looking finish. Not what I wanted. So I just used my Copics.

Idk who this person is, but apparently her name is Grace?? Looked, I decided that I wanted to draw a portrait and so I got on Pinterest and picked this one out, okay? Drawing from real life is the single best way to get better at making your drawings more realistic, even if your art style isn't necessarily realistic. And if you're like me, you like drawing people. Hence, this drawing. Besides, even if you're not interested in improving your art (what kind of artist are you?), drawing portraits helps expand your mental library of fashion and design, and even helps you know how to draw them. USE REFERENCES. USE ALLLL THE REFERENCES

Well, that's all I got for you today, I hope you like them!

If you have any questions for me, I'm always open. And tell me what you think!
